  1. I would prefer a system where dealers shot 2 or 3% of every sale back to the board.
  2. I will donate here if needed. After the way I've been treated at RWI lately, I will not be donating unless Tim does something about the situation. Again, its not always about cash.
  3. I have actually purchased 2 watches from dealers here (a third was a replacement for a defective watch). I have received several watches from members here in appreciation for artwork, or literary contributions. Beyond that, anything else I have was put together from bits and pieces. I've been a student, and I know thats tough. But, if you overspend, you go hungry. If I overspend, my children go hungry. Big difference.
  4. Some of us choose to pay our dues with hard work. I personally wrote a few parts of By-Tors Breitling & Omega guides, I try to contributes as much as I can via photography & discussion, and I try to be active in issues that affect us all. I put my name on the line for Pugs over at RWI, and have been taking [censored] for it ever since. I lobbied for the removal of pornographic avatars at both sites, and even though the membership agreed, and the motion was passed, I am still ridiculed for it to this day. I'm neither bragging, nor complaining, but just pointing out that a community runs on more than just money. It takes many types of contributors and each is as important as the next.
  5. This shouldn't be a discussion about donations guys. I understand that some people think that $30 is nothing, but for some of us it is. Personally, I will make a donation, but make no mistake, money is tight. Do not judge people by the size of their wallets. I wish that I could give money to the site without worry, but I can't, and I'm sure that I am not the only one.
  6. Okay, Seanf is gone, who's next?
  7. Yes, no dealer section will make things very tough on guys like Neil.
  8. Agreed 100%. Guys walking in to ADs and showing of their reps to the disbelief of the shopkeepers does nothing but hurt our hobby either.
  9. Really not surprising. Reps have a history of being cheap cheezy knockoffs, and posed no threat to the swiss watch market. With the advent of the high quality 1 to 1 reps that we have been seeing lately, watch enthusiasts are very likely to settle for a high quality rep over a high priced gen. It was only a matter of time before something like this would happen, and I fear that it will get much worse in the coming years. I've justified buying more watches than I need simply because I view this as a short term hobby, and that one day it will all be shut down.
  10. Normally I would say go with whichever you like, but the extra money is far too much to pay for a second hand. Buy a UPO, a Silix strap and a case of beer.
  11. Been bouncing between these two all weekend.
  12. Great review and great watch. Some watches, like this one will never be repped 1 to 1. You wait for a better version and it gets discontinued. Like the moonwatch, I think this will be a much sought after piece in a few years. Wear it well Chub!
  13. Glad to hear you got something worked out. Where is your PO from? BTW let us know how the gen crown feels when installed!
  14. Nice piece, welcome to the club Dutchy!
  15. This is probably the biggest development of the last few years. A new chrono movement, and with complications to boot! Really interested to hear whats under the hood!
  16. I am sure we will see a gold navi sometime soon. We've already seen all gold Bentleys, so I don't know why wouldn't do the Navi as well. I wouldn't hold your breath on the improved date font however.
  17. A product that I used to use in my airbrushing days was called Frisk-It. Its a low-tack, clear film made specifically for this type of application. Hope this helps http://www.arttalk.com/frisk/masking.htm
  18. BTW, for future information, would it have been possible to cut down the original tube flush with the case, then drill and tap that to accommodate the Omega tube?
  19. I would try a good 2-part epoxy. Let it cure for a full 24 hours before doing anything. JB Weld would be my "last resort", but I would use it in the same way as the epoxy. I would not even attempt filling the hole & re-drilling.
  20. As George Costanza found out "That book's been flagged".
  21. I wouldn't be so sure about that. He wouldn't be moving the quantities he was if he was selling as genuine. The press tend to write articles to put fear in your head, makes for better reading.
  22. I'd love to see what kind of [censored] he was selling. Seeing as he doesn't look asian, I can't see him having access to the good stuff!
