  1. Good points BT, but Canada has not dominated on an international level for many years. Peoples perception that Canada always wins, is simply incorrect. We have always dominated Junior hockey, but with our oustanding junior system, thats to be expected. Whether its a good thing if Canada wins or loses does not matter, we will always come to compete with the only ambition being a gold medal. That is all that matters to us, Silver medals are for the best of the losers and mean very little to us. Is it a bad thing if Canada wins 4 golds in a row? I'll let you know after the 2022 games
  2. It certainly was a great tournament, and its a shame that they only happen every few years. As a Canadian I wouldn't expect anybody outside of Canada to understand how much the game means to us. Hockey is not just a game in Canada, its a way of life. Its the thing that has boded generations of fathers and sons, sitting in front of the TV to watch Hockey Night in Canada every Saturday night. Its what brings the small rural towns together, gathering at the arena every weekend to watch family and friends partake in the great Canadian game. I don't think the rest of the world understands our frustration, that this is only our second Olympic gold in 50 years! Until recently, Canada would only send amateurs to world championships and Olympics, as our best were committed to their NHL teams. To watch the so called "amatuer" Russian army teams dominate was something that cut very deep for many years. Beginning in 1972, when Canada defeated Russia in a series that will never be forgotten, the final game being the greatest game ever played IMO, Canada began to realize the importance of playing seriously on a world stage. More recently, Canadians are feeling more frustration as our game slips away from us. Thriving Canadian cities like Winnipeg and Quebec City have lost their teams, and the NHL is doing everything in their power to stop Hamilton from getting one. Yet, uninterested U.S. cities seem to have no problems. Florida has just as many teams as Ontario for Christ's sake! Our junior system, by far the greatest in the world, has more and more opened its doors to U.S. and European players. I would guess that 90% of the players that took part in the Olympics got at least some of their training in Canada. Yet, with all the resources that we have shared with the world, we still find a way to win. It has nothing to do with skill, resources or money anymore. It all comes down to one thing when you are Canadian. Heart! It is the one thing that we will never give away to the rest of the world, and the one thing that they will never be able to duplicate. It is something that has been learned, and passed down through the generations, in the arenas, on the ponds, and in the streets. The games always end the same way, no matter the score, with a cry of "NEXT GOAL WINS!". That is why Team Canada won on Sunday, simply because they'd been in that situation a million times before.
  3. Having now had the chance to see your pics, this doesn't look to be a pro II at all. More a combination of a pro I & pro II. The middle links are more bevelled like a pro I. Not sure if a skyland endlink will fit. It certainly isn't an accurate bracelet for that watch.
  4. Skyland endlinks are completely flat where they meet the case. If yours are slightly curved (sorry, I cant see your pics at work) then its likely from another model, possibly a steelfish?
  5. Didn't a couple of people get burned when Eddie finally called it quits? I seem to recall something about a paypal dispute and his assets being frozen. Seems pretty much every dealer ends the same way. I never dealt with him, but seeing how he was from Canada, he was probably a decent guy
  6. Our pal Rooster just sold a nicely modded version last week btw
  7. By-Tor, for a while there was a TT version of the old Navitimer available. It ia actually a good platform to modify, as you can swap in a Skyland movement (gives you the proper date font), and a genuine dial (Without having to shave it down), and of course AR. This will give you a very accurate franken. The Series Speciale is a decent base as well, but you are stuck with the fighter's caseback, which is of course wrong. The OP can check King's site, as she still has them listed.
  8. I think they are integrated on the gen as well, as the rider tabs don't hang over the crystal, there would be no possible reason to have to remove them. I'll take a look at the gen at lunch to be sure.
  9. I actually think it looks pretty decent. Sure the datewheel is sunken, bit if you thought it wouldn't be you are likely on crack. The 3-6-9 hour markers look a little short, but thats what happens when you build a rep with a different calibre movement than the gen. The pushers look slightly long, but not overly. Price isn't that bad either, and I'm sure some of our other dealers will offer this at about $250. Red one looks interesting!
  10. They push in, its just that they do not pass completely through the case like a conventional pusher. I believe they use magnets to accomplish this. The end result is that it is the only chrono that is fully functional at extreme depths.
  11. Hey congrats mate! Knew it wouldn't be long before you picked one of these up, especially after you sold your rep. Wear it well!
  12. Go with the 7750 version. It functions exactly as the genuine, meaning the stopwatch works using the start and stop pushers on the side of the case. The cheap version does not have a working stopwatch. It has what we call "faux chronos". As for where to get it, all dealers have the same navitimers. There is only one factory making them, so look for the best price and have fun.
  13. That looks cool Robs Does the actual lume color look any different, or can you only see a difference when it glows?
  14. Awesome pics, thanks for sharing mate!
  15. Thanks for sharing Dave, the rep looks really good. The gen doesn't look bad either
  16. They certainly would. It'd likely cost extra, but I believe they'd do it.
  17. I think it would look great Rob. Only problem is that without completely disassembling the case, including pushers and bezel, it would be impossible to do it correctly. The trick of brushing is to get all the lines straight and in the proper direction. I really like the bead blasted look that one of our members was doing recently. Gave it a more uniform finish IMO.
  18. Couldn't agree with you more. Can you see Leonardo DiCaprio wearing any of the current Avengers in Blood Diamonds? I don't think so! The titanium Chrono just feels and looks so rugged, like it was meant to be exposed to the elements. The current polished avengers look like they are more suited to a club than the great outdoors. The Blacksteel versions are a little more on target if you ask me. Why don't you brush a rep Super Avenger Mike? Too big for me, but I'd love to see what it looks like. Bead blasting the case might look even better!
  19. Wow, never knew you had one of these Mike. Should have hung on to it mate, I can only see that one increasing in value! I never knew they existed until a few months back. Just goes to show you that Rob's franken Breits could very easily fool most people, as you would have to be extremely hard core to keep track of every model and special edition that breitling has come up with. In fact his watches give us a good idea as to what breitling might have done if they hadn't ceased to produce the Chrono Avengers. I feel that his V1 with the Skyland dial could very well have been the next version CA if they had not opted to produce the Skyland.
  20. Actually Rob is semi correct, there is a gen SS Chrono Avenger. It was a limited edition and had a tricompax layout, but nonetheless...
  21. LOL, Rob's Avenger collection is like the results of the "day after the Christmas party" at the Breitling factory
  22. Go easy with the pipe wrench and loctite Mike, I've been waiting a long time to see that setup in the ti case. Not many people, including myself, will be able to tell it from a gen without flipping it over. How are you liking the blue Rob? I love my blue Skyland, but I know that gen dial has a much nicer tone to it!
  23. That gen blue dial looks sick Rob! You gotta at least try it in the ti case!!!! Pleeeeeeaaasssse? Great looking, and unique watches my friend!
  24. Don't see a reworking of the Skyland any time soon. Breitling has already discontinued this model, and we already have two extraordinary versions. I can see them updating the dial to bring it in line with the current Breitling Avenger though.
  25. Unfortunately I'm in strap acquisition mode as opposed to selling mode. Just a couple of questions. Is your dial matte or glossy? Is the sliderule ring silver or white? And finally, can you give me an exact measurement across the bezel? I've always felt that the rep feels slightly smaller than the gen, although its probably just an optical illusion of having my face so close at the AD
