  1. That seems to be the biggest problem with reps these days, stripped crowns. Omegas are the biggest culprit. They can generally be repaired using gen parts, but because the tube generally needs to be glued in, it doesn't make for a reliable repair. I just shorten the stem on most of them and forget about the screwdown feature. If done right, you'll never notice and you won't stress every time you unscrew that damned thing.
  2. Same old issues, but nice watch nonetheless!
  3. Good luck. These were quite popular a few years back, and there was the odd one for sale. I don't think they made many of them as I recall.
  4. Hey mate, my heart goes out to you. I don't really think its productive to be bad mouthing your ex though. I know, she was supposed to love you through sickness and health, but sometimes life doesn't work out like you want. You admit that you don't even remember how you behaved on medication, so maybe she was justified in leaving. Maybe she didn't see a viable happy ending anywhere in the future. What you gotta do is to stop taking drugs. Then you've got to get serious about getting well. Pain killers just hide the pain, they don't take it away. Pain is your body telling you that something is wrong. By taking medication without dealing with the cause, you are simply ignoring what your body is telling you. Your life is just going to spiral until you get this sorted mate. My prayers are with you... A
  5. I hear you Mike, its a shame that these days there is no interest in a watch that is any less than perfect. I love my Chrono Avenger despite its flaws. It is definitely my favorite watch to wear, and of late has been getting the majority of wrist time!
  6. Awesome watch mate! If it ever gets homesick for Canada, you can send it my way
  7. BTW, some members have access to much lower prices than others. Say I can get a watch that sells for $250 from Josh for $180. I buy two for $360, sell one for about $250, and I've got my watch for $110.00. Lots of guys doing that too.
  8. I wouldn't pay a cent extra for a serviced watch, unless I knew and trusted the seller very well. Service is an invisible commodity, and lack of it would not likely be noticed for at least a couple of years. Combine that with the fact that the internet is full of peeps solely looking to take your money. You do the math
  9. Thanks Rollie. Seems like they went through a lot of work to put this one together. Its amazing how they make such blatant errors. The half circle shaped bit in the middle obviously has six ribs across it, the rep has four. They seem to have missed the bevel around the outside of the case completely, and the hour font is completely wrong. I do however find this a fascinating watch. It is powered by a single automatic movement, mounted dead center in the case. Wondering how they get this to work?
  10. Vintage daytona would be nice, but I would want to do something that showed off the non-recessed date. Nobody is going to be able to tell what is in that Daytona case without opening it. Your other problem will be finding a case that fits. The 7753 shares the same dimensions as an A7750, but not those of the modified a7750 3-6-9 subdial layout. The movement will fit, but the stem will not align with the case tube. The Navitimer is a good option because the case from the 6-9-12 Fighters edition will fit perfectly, but you will need a gen dial and a little bit of modification.
  11. New on Josh's site this morning. A little sloppy, but cool toy nonetheless! And the gen...
  12. my guess is that it's for continuity. I noticed the same thing on Leo's chrono avenger in the film blood diamonds. I guess that because it can take hours to film a one minute scene, it's easier to hack the watch than remember to turn it back a few minutes on every take.
  13. Krpster, outstanding comparison mate. Thanks for taking the time and effort to do this, I know what kind of time something like this entails! This will definitely make a great addition to the Breitling guide.
  14. Is that a rep strap? Looks great with the watch!
  15. Raking leaves, cutting grass, and changing oil today. Wearing something rugged!
  16. Sweet! I'd actually seen this in the wrist check yesterday and was certain it was a gen.
  17. How tight is it? You know there is room for adjustment on the clasp right? You will see a line of small holes on each side of the clasp. Use a pin to remove the spring bar, then move it to the outermost hole. If that doesn't give you enough, post back here.
  18. Everybody loves the AOPA. Seems like it could be repped quite easily too!
  19. I knew you'd spot it mate. Seems at some point he probably blinged out the ti bezel. At some point he likely wanted to switch back but couldn't find one, so he threw on s skyland bezel. Also looks like someone snapped off the end of the second hand! He doesn't mention any of this in the ad though.
  20. Close, but there are some more obvious issues than that
  21. Check out this Chrono Avenger I found on ebay. It certainly looks genuine, but something is very wrong with this one! Can anybody else spot it?
  22. V1 case will work fine, same design as the gen. Only problem is that the v1 crystal, dial, pushers, caseback, etc. are inferior. There is no guarantee that those parts could be transfered from a v2. I would certainly explore that route if I was doing a franken SA.
  23. Not going to work. One is press fit, one is screwed on. All the pieces or not, it's not going to fit without some major modifications.
  24. The dial isn't the problem, it's the insert that is the problem. @Yodap - to make a proper franken you need a V1 6-9-12 case, an eta 7753, a gen 3-6-9 dial and a rep 3-6-9 caseback. You'll need to shave the dial, but it will all fit together nicely. Expensive project but stunning result!
