  1. So I stopped at the Apple store to view your pics, then walked straight to the AD to view the gen. The shot that you did that really shows the texture of the black dial finish is bang on to what the gen looks like. Although, on mine anyway, the dial doesn't always look as black as your pic, more like the finish of an UPO dial. I think that decent AR would make it look very close. One thing that you notice on the gen is that the dials sliderule markings are actually silver, and they reflect brilliantly off the dial. I believe ours are silver as well, just not shiny. Brilliant pics mate, I especially love the nato strap (bet that looks even better on your Chrono Avenger), and that python strap is just awesome, but not really suited to the Navi IMO.
  2. Thats what we are all waiting for! Sure, we know they will never fix the sunken datewheel, but the date font, slide rule ring, AR, caseback, and overall dial size could all be improved on.
  3. Couple of things; On the V2, it is the insert that doesn't line up, the dial is correct, so you can swap the V2 dial in to the V1 case. Yes, the gen dial is glossy, but I was in the AD last week and saw a gen that looked closer to the V1 finish. It was slightly glossier, but I would still have classified it as matte. Not sure how consistent Breitling is with the finish. The V1 subdials actually look much closer to the gen. The are however missing the recessing that the V2 & gen have. The actual shape of the piepan looks much more defined on the V1. @hackR _ I'll comment on your pics when I see them on an Apple Store computer at lunch. Blocked at work, but I'm sure they look marvelous!
  4. definitely not 7750. The 6:00 sub totalizer is only 6 hours, 7750s are 12 hours.
  5. I would think that it would fit. We know the gen rubber strap fits, so the bracelet should as well.
  6. Its not rocket science really. The hard part is finding a piece of steel to use (you cannot tell the difference between brushed steel and ti on such a small piece, and ti is harder to find and much harder to work with). When looking for something to use, I decided on sacrificing on of my jewelers screwdrivers, simply because the steel is good, and the hole (where the blade goes) is centered. When I chose the screwdriver, I focused on the size of the lume dot more than the outside diameter. Its easier to take material off the outside than the inside. So I cut off the end of the screwdriver where the blade meets the shaft (about an inch), and cut off the blade. This piece was mounted in my dremel and turned down to the proper diameter. When it fits snugly in to the hole in the bezel, its time to shape the top. Again, I used the dremel and a file and fine sandpaper. Once thats done, I used a cutting disk to saw of the end 1mm or so. Then I sanded the back down to the proper height. At this point its pretty easy to knock out the center piece (remainder of the blade) to give you a perfectly shaped donut. Epoxy the piece in to the bezel, lume (or white paint if you aren't fussy) then add some clear lacquer to finish. Took me a couple of attempts to perfect it, but with a bit of patience it isn't that hard.
  7. I think the UTC was always an upgrade available for all the ti bodied avengers. I don't think breitling limits watch/strap/bracelet combinations, meaning you can order what you want, provided it fits and you have the cash.
  8. Gotta love the titanium Breits. You get that cool, heavy looking case without the weight. Plus you never have to worry about desk diving mark! Leonaro Dicaprio couldn't have picked a better watch to wear in Blood Diamonds. Can't wait to see the family pic mate, you lucky ba$tard!
  9. Wouldn't doubt that he could get that Ken. In Toronto, Canal St. type reps go for about $150, and the only places I have seen to buy high end 7750 based reps, is through craigslist. These sell for about $600, so in that context, $200 isn't absurd.
  10. I've alway's liked the Chrono Fighter. I guess its actually pretty logical given my affinity for the true great pilot/space watches like the Navitimer and Moon watch. Like Toad said, you really have to see it in person to appreciate it. But you will also be startled by its size. At 46mm plus the massive crown apparatus, they look to be at least 50mm on the wrist. A skinny wristed, 160 lb featherweight like myself doesn't stand a chance of pulling one of these off. Hopefully the rep makers will do the smaller 42mm version for us girly men
  11. You could also use the rep endlinks if the gen ones are too different. I still tink that the gen bracelet is too pricey a mod. I don't think it adds anything visually, and probably isn't that much more comfortable.
  12. All my 7750s do that. Got in to the habit of setting the 1 minute ahead a long time ago.
  13. No Breits in your collection mate? Good to see you back! My collection is at a standstill. I've not purchased anything since my Skyland, after winning a sizable amount in last years SuperBowl pool. Since then I've been pondering what direction to go in. I've noticed that even though my watchbox currently has a good supply of Omegas, Panerais and Rolex, I always find myself picking one of my Breitlings to wear every morning. Since there is only one watch that is calling to me, a Graham Diver, which I know is much too large for me, I have decided to concentrate my collecting on my beloved Breitlings. I'm pretty sure my next watch will be one of the larger Navitimers, probably a Datora, World, or a Legend. Who knows, maybe something new will come out by then Anyway, its good to have you back! Cheers, A
  14. Your photos are just links to your inbox. You will be the only person with access.
  15. Well maybe if they made it out of titanium to differentiate it from the Super Avenger.... but... that would....umm Never mind
  16. I like numbers as well, but I've also always been a bigger fan of contrasting subdials like this one has.
  17. Was checking out the new Breitling site and came across this new version of the Skyland (now called Avenger). Haven't seen one of these before. What do you guys think?
  18. I believe the extra lug holes are on the rep only, mad to accomodate an ill fitting rubber strap. I think their is also a dimple on the case between the lugs used for the same purpose.
  19. I've got the same watch and love it. Its become my most often worn watch despite its flaws. I built a custom pearl for it that looks much closer to the gen. I've also done a lot of work to the bezel, as the casting is not very good on these, and nothing on it is very flat or sharp. The face of my bezel is nice and crisp, and the rider tabs are nice and sharp. I also brushed the pushers as per the gen. I also purchased a gen divers strap that I wear it with most of the time. Next on the list is Chief's AR, and then a datewheel if I can find one! Congrats on your new watch!
  20. Seeing these pics on my laptop this morning (was on the iPhone last night), I can see that the bezel appears to be from a V3 although the pearl still looks more like a V2 to me. Bracelet looks like it might be a V2 as well. Caseback looks decently engraved, but I can't really see it that well in the pic. It could be a V3 caseback? Anyway, its a V3 with the possibility of some V2 parts.
  21. Cmon guys, that's a v2 skyland rep. Beautiful nonetheless!
  22. That's a shame about the Porsche, it was definitely on my wish list. Never really liked the Tag, so no big loss there. Thanks Zig
  23. Brilliant mate! There isn't one spot on that dial that isn't beautiful. Wonderful textures, beautiful script printing, wonderfully shaped hour markers, and all contained in a beautiful case. Your pics certainly show off a work of art my friend. Bravo!
  24. My first thought was to use a Skyland crystal, but as I'd need to purchase a complete case set for $110, then have to probably destroy the bezel to remove the crystal, it just too pricey to risk without being certain the crystal would fit. I spoke to Takashi who said that he had put a Skyland crystal in a V1 Chrono Avenger without a problem. But is the V1 equal to the V2? I did some research and read some very old posts. I found one in particular where a member had ordered one of the SS Chrono Avenger crystals (same manufacturer of the V1) and it was slightly larger than the V2. The simple deduction is that the Skyland crystal won't fit either. So, I guess my only option is to have Chieftang AR coat the original crystal. I know it won't help the distortion, but hopefully it will get rid of all the nasty reflections.
