  1. I will vouch for the Hamilton X-Wind, have been wearing mine for a couple of weeks and this is a fantastic watch, Grab the black on bracelet and you can swap for any colour leather strap. Very masculine watch, unlike that awful Movado.
  2. The Hamilton off the clock and of course, this to get beat up on at work
  3. Back to the 8926 for the work day, On my way to meet #93 Doug Gilmore in the Cafeteria, it's gonna be a good day. and can't take the Hammy off my wrist for my own time
  4. I had to look down at my watch and confirm that I hadn't lost an entire day Khaki X-Wind mounted firmly to my wrist
  5. Hamilton Khaki X-Wind, I almost forgot how much I adore this watch.
  6. This gentleman definitely has the passion, he is retired from the job that I currently do and he also worked with my father. He took this up as a hobby and now it just fills his time at his own leisure. He said he gets a lot more business with requests for clocks but still loves to work on watches and seemed genuinely excited to see an ETA 2836 dropped off for repair.
  7. I was talking to him a little bit and he is 100% self taught, no pretension, he just loves watches. I'll run the whole rep thing by him and feel it out though.
  8. I live in a small town in Ontario Canada, about 10,000 people, and I have found a watchmaker who is currently repairing a broken jewel in my ETA 2836 movement from my DSSD. he has offered to call when the new jewel arrives and show me how to press it in. This is pretty exciting, it sounds like he is willing to teach me the ropes a little bit. Is it just me, or would this not be exciting for anyone else on the forum. Just wanted to share my news with you guys.
  9. No love for the new Sub? I'm going to come out and say that I would buy the Submariner, I really like the new case with thicker lugs and crown guards. The new dial is also much nicer for my tastes. 2nd choice, I'd go GMT.
  10. No change today, I think I'll switch it up for the weekend and for tonight
  11. sinowatches.us is the real site, contact info on this site is for mickey, that's the one you want. I have purchased two watches from sinowatches in the past but mostly stick to the trusted dealers on the forum now. sinowatches don't offer QC pictures but they will sell you a very nice watch. I think their prices are a little higher now but I think they come with a box included. Good luck and also make sure you at least browse the trusted dealers on the forum as they are at least somewhat accountable to the community.
  12. Before joining the Forum I was not interested in basic sport watches, the submariner was boring and I couldn't figure out why someone would want a sub when they could have the Carrera Calibre 36RS. Panerai, forget about it, they were more boring than the rolex, there was no appeal at all for these watches. Now, about a year later, The submariner is one of my favorite watches, I love the new 8500 PO, and that AT from Skyfall - Damn There are two PAM's on the top of my Rep wishlist and I almost exlusively wear dive watches now. I still love chronographs for their complexity, I still love to look down and see that big second hand, poised perfectly at 12:00, not even half a degree out of sync and ready to start a smooth sweep across the dial. In conclusion, have my tastes changed? Maybe, but I prefer to think of my horizons as being broadened
  13. Pro Diver at work Planet Ocean at home
  14. I wish I was going, that would make my weekend, and get me out of this friggin cold weather!
  15. This does look crooked but the date is perfectly centered within the date window, if only the dial were crooked then the date would be crooked in the window. It is possible that the entire movement is crooked inside the case, they usually have play of a degree or so if the movement clamps are not tighted down properly.
  16. Invicta work beater on brown leather Nato Planet Ocean is still all over my wrist at home
  17. This is known as Confirmation Bias, it is very natural to fall into this trap and even the most well educated indeed do. If you are aware of this pitfall, it can be avoided and this is a n excellent lesson for anyone who would like to hone their critical thinking skills.
  18. Nothing brings man together like the arbitrary and divisive (also constructed and unnatural) political dichotomy of the United States of America Where ideology and cash rule the former land of opportunity
  19. Steer clear of the V3 reps, they are not even close. a better bet would be the rep of the V1, problem with that, I don't think they ever made/sold the V1 1887, they were simply the prototype but I think it's a little closer. I agree, I love this watch too, I am about 4 months away from pulling the trigger on the gen.
  20. While some of the straps are garbage, the Rep crocodile strap that came on my Carrera Calibre 16 DayDate was actually pretty good! I've been wearing the watch for about 3 years now and while it is showing some wear, it still looks and feels great. Note for Tag Chrono's some of the engraved SS bezels have an issue with the Tachy scale 1 - Calibre 16 with SS bezel is missing the 170, it's just blank in that spot ???? 2 - I want to say Calibre 17 with the black bezel, has a '0' in the place of '200' the left off the 2 and the second 0 ???? just something to look out for.
  21. My goodness, I should proof read my posts #yikes - see, I didn't it again
