  1. yeah this ones been for sale for a LONG time. You'd think they would crack it open and takes some pics of the movement at least. Yeesh. dizz
  2. I heard that the actual cost to Rolex to build a stainless steel submariner is just under $500usa for parts, materials and labour etc. Then they turn around and sell them all day long for $5000 haha must be nice to make that kind of profit! dizz
  3. I love reading these. Nice post!
  4. Airbrushing them? With an airbrush you should be able to set the spray so fine that it coats the hands without globs of paint on them. You could bake them in the oven then clear coat them? I guess it depends on the exact look you are going for. dizz
  5. If i had to choose only one... Rolex 16610 Submariner... T serial 1995 model with SEL's and lugs holes!
  6. once a year? heck i check my seals every 3 or 4 weeks at the rate i keep taking my watches apart lol
  7. Excellent little mod!! BUT if you look at a gen bracelet you can still see the stamping on the backside. Some reps are worse than others but its still there on the gen. My boss has a new gen Bentley Flying B and i looked inside the fliplock piece and its no better than my Chrono T motors rep bracelet. I took pics of the watch but not the stamping.. he just sold the watch so i cant get it back for more pics. I am still gunna do this sanding on my Breitling bracelets though. It looks pretty easy to do thanks! dizz
  8. my new Ultimate BCE's Asian Rotor spins very fast and freely and of course doesnt wind the watch at all. I've already sent it back for warranty so i cant try the winding test. I was tempted just to install an ETA7750 but we'll see how this warranty fix works out for now... The movement was faulty from the day i got it. I was too bad, it was otherwise a very good rep. dizz
  9. excellent post!! Good info for everyone! Your crown guards turned out really nice using just sandpaper. Plus this way you dont have to remove the tube and risk breaking it or stripping the threads. cheers! dizz
  10. Ive found that if you take pictures with the camera too close to the watch, you will get the illusion of a conical rehaut for some reason. This could be the case (no pun intended)
  11. WOW thats nice! Cant get much better than that! I really like the 702 crown. Where did you source the tube? I need a couple 702 tubes. cheers! dizz
  12. Does Bodo still have them? everytime i ask him he says hes out of stock. Anyone else have a good source for them? I need a couple 703 sets also. dizz
  13. darn it. yeah the 702 crown is skinnier but still a triplock... its the old style triplock. Im having a VERY hard time finding 702 case tubes Apparently the tube diameter is slightly smaller on the 702. oh well, back to the drawing board haha. Thanks for the info Repaustria. dizz
  14. This watch is a 'copy' of the MBW.. its not an authentic MBW just to be clear. Its supposed to have the correct case thickness BUT im not sure if anyone here has seen one yet to compare it to the real MBW. This copy MBW is a new release... it just came out last month. I would LOVE to hear any info anyone has on this or if Angus can let us know how exact it is. My only concern is the slightly conical rehaut but im very picky and to most people it probably doesnt matter. I would also like to know if it will accept gen parts like the MBW... crystal, tube etc. cheers dizz
  15. doesnt surprise me that this is happening.. i cant imagine them throwing away good "old 7750" parts when they can use them up by making hybrid movements.. its not like these manufacturers are concerned about reliability.. if they cared they wouldnt keep selling us those timebomb sec@6 movements. Hopefully we dont see any problems because of this combination. But im sure that after a good servicing, they are probably ok.
  16. So your saying that an older triplock 702 crown will fit a new 703 tube? Everything i ever searched online told me it wouldnt screw on? You have done this and it works? dizz
  17. can i change the rules a bit? Fully modded MBW1665 Franken-dweller
  18. The new mbw 1665 copy is supposed to the be the proper thickness and dimensions and copied directly from an actual MBW case... the only thing that looks funny to me is the conical rehaut which is incorrect. I would have to see one in person and compare it to my MBW 1665 franken side by side. IF the case is correct then it would be a much cheaper starting point for franken (adding gen parts and or movement) builders.
  19. i love the flat top 3 datewheel. I have an ubi datewheel overlay i want to install in my 1680 but after reading this thread i realize its probably the "thick" version and might be problematic. It feels pretty thick to me and it prob could be printed in a thinner material. I think i may just stick with the stock overlay for now I'd rather have a reliable movement than a fancy datewheel. I would have assumed that you could just take off the overlay off the stock ETA metal datewheel and install the Ubi but i guess its still too thick? You guys know better than me so im not gunna mess with it dizz
  20. Looks shifty to me, even tho he has 100% + feedback... other than the obvious crown guard filing, whats with the goofy datewheel in the first pics? AND the different watch in the last pic? Prob a franken with gen movement and who knows what the dial actually is. I would want to go see this one in person and take it to a AD for verification before dropping $12k
  21. very very nice!!! I am in the process of working on two 1680's... collecting parts and waiting for them to arrive... The rolex 1680 is one of my favorite watches of all time. You did a VERY nice job on this one. I am jelous haha. I cant wait to get the gen crown and tube in my first one. There are a couple guys here that do amazing dial work if you want to get that authentic 35 year old look. Have a look at stephanes signature to see what he did to his MBW 1665 dials if you want to go that route and take it to the next level, but i'd be happy with it the way it is. Excellent work my friend! dizz
