  1. looks good!! i rinsed my strap for 15 min under running water to make sure all the beach is out.. otherwise it will keep getting lighter and lighter. Nothing looks better than a nice worn out looking strap! dizz
  2. wow haha its hard to believe they actually produce this watch lol
  3. thats all i know, sorry. Ive just heard rumors that the MBW's will soon be offered with Asian movements as an option. That would be fine with me. The new asian movements are pretty good. I have an old asian movement in an Explorer II for 8 yrs ago and it still keeps perfect time.
  4. thanks for the fast reply! I will try Heflands for sure... clarks doesnt have them... haha the "joker".. i know that guy, and i'll check him also thanks again
  5. i recently bought some 702 crowns thinking they were 703's... does anyone know where i can get 702 tubes? Generic preferably. I've been searching ebay and the net and i havent found anything. Are these tubes still available?? I've been looking and all i can find are the new ones. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would really like to use one of these 702's on my 1680 franken. dizz
  6. excellent info! I love the lug holes and SEL's
  7. happy new year The Zigmeister! This post puts my mind at ease. At least i know i can get my current movements serviced and parts are available. Thats good to know. thanks for the info! dizz
  8. my day date also has a 2836-2 ETA movement. The biggest issue with putting a gen day date movement into a rep case is that the case is stainless steel or gold plated and not solid yellow or white gold. If you are interested in doing a nice franken project that will be very realistic and accurate in the end, then you might want to go with a datejust. The 1680 submariner and 1665 sea dwellers are the best for building frankens becasue the movements are readily available and these gen watches hold their value unlike a datejust or day date. But like i said if you like the dressy Rollies, then go for a nice datejust franken and you'll have a more accurate watch in the end. good luck! dizz
  9. I keep the value under $40.. canada customs will ding you tax and duty on items over $40 i have found.
  10. Yeah the copy 1665 looks like it has a conical rehaut but it could just be the picture. but thats enough to keep me away for sure. The dial is probably just a generic dial.. as far as i know they just copied the case and not the other parts. It doesnt look 1:1 with the MBW though.. i think they just copied the case thickness more than anything, but i could be wrong. Heres a few pics i stole from Angus so you guys can see it here This rehaut looks a LOT different than my gen MBW1665.
  11. I change them once every couple of years on watches I wear daily. I do inspect them all the time though to make sure they are not damaged or bent. I would HATE to lose a watch on the street. All my Rollies have gen springbars now so they are fine for a long time.
  12. There is a new copy of the MBW1665 sea-dweller that was just released. Angus has them and he clearly states they are copied from the MBW case. But Angus also charges a LOT less money than the MBW sells for. These might be them who knows. We'll need someone to do a comparison.
  13. In the future there will be an MBW with asian movement but its not available yet. If you want a cheap sub to mod and play around with then order a 1680 from Silix for about $100 shipped.. it will take a gen crystal with some modification but thats half the fun of learning. I just ordered one of these subs to tear apart for a franken project.. new dial, hands, gen crown and tube, gen t-127 crystal etc. The crystal will need some grinding and glueing to seal it, but for me im not concerned becasue im not going swimming with it anyways. Its a cheap way to try out some modding without having to worry about killing a $400+ MBW. Your best bet is to become a RWG supporter then you have access to the collectors areas and you can see who has the different watches available. good luck dizz
  14. HAHHA!!! i love these stories!

    My new SSD

i never in my life actually wanted to get a newer style sea-dweller rep until now. Excellent work Tribal. As for the crown guards being different on the back... you never see the back anyways and im actually shocked that the back side of the guards look that way on the gen. I believe you but im surprised. I;ve always liked the way Tribal does his CG's anyways so this isnt a big deal. I think i might actually have to grab one of these and do the reg mods like this one.. crown, tube, insert etc etc. @Tribal - Does this watch feel "bigger" or more substantial on the wirst than a 16610 Submariner? I would assume that with the thicker case, it would have a slightly diff feel to it. Ive got very little experience with newer seadwellers and i dont think ive ever even fondled a gen sea-dweller before. Excellent work! dizz
  16. Brown = good!! As mentioned check pics of the old subs and sea-dwellers like Nanuq's. That brown color is what you want as a vintage collector. I think you did very well. but if you really dont like it then send it to me hehe excellent work! dizz
  17. haha thats not a good thing, but i assure you Zman that replica site isnt a supporter of this site nor a trusted site to buy from. As mezz said, those ads are just random. It would be nice to block any banner ads for other companies. Also as soon as you upgrade to VIP, then you get to use the RWG VIP skin and all the banner ads on your computer vanish so you dont have to see them. Just one more advantage of being a member here. AND (it just keeps getting better) once you become a supporter, you get access to the collectors area and you can see all the trusted collectors and websites that are proven to be legit. I wouldnt buy from any website not listed on one of these replica forums. dizz
  18. My post posted itself 3 times and i dont know why. wont let me delete the extra 2 posts so i just edited them dizz
  19. i bought a sec@6.. used the chronos ONCE just to test them.. watch was dead in 2 weeks. The main killer of this cluster-fukk of a movement is the running seconds at 6. Its constanly using all those non-jeweled, and non-lubricated transfer gears to run that second hand. Thats why it would be wise to freeze the second hand and then you can take out all those transfer gears and you are left with a somewhat reliable movement. If you get a sec@6 watch that actually works, then i think you got lucky. Ive had two of them now and they both died quickly. I wonder what the actual failure rate is on these. Im sure all the collectors that sell them could tell us haha. i'd guess 50% failure rate of higher in the first 5 months. As soon as they make a jeweled Sec@6 conversion (like the new sec@3) then i will make another leap into daytona land.. or just order a movement for the dead one i have here on my workbench LOL dizz
  20. i have suffered from Nickle alergies all my life. Ive never been able to wear any cheap jewellery becasue within an hour i have a bad rash forming. Rolex used 904L which has a higher nickle content than 316 stainless. Most reps are made from 316 becasue its cheaper. 904L is a higher quality of metal but does contain more nickle. Some people are alergic to a gen rolex bracelet but thats pretty borderline. Most reps should be fine these days. Although i bought a Breitling Bentley chrono T from Paul last summer and i got a reaction from the caseback only. The color of the metal on the caseback if different from the rest of the watch so its obviously a diff grade of stainless with more nickle so its bothering me. The quick fix for that caseback was a piece of good qaulity duct tape and some precision trimming and you dont even know its there. I also get bad reactions from all grades of silver jewellery unless its rhodium coated. Kens also right about humidity. Watches that i cant wear in the summer, cause absolutely no reaction at all in the dryer winter months. @ Victoria - i have seen and used those spray or brush on "fixes" and they are basicly a thin spray on varnish that will need to be applied occasionally. Just be careful that the coating doesnt gum up necklaces and things like that. Some seem to work better than others.. some are invisible and some look like you coated your jewellery in clear glue... so test a small hidden area and see how it looks and go from there. I have never used this brand you show here but im sure it will work and smell better than nail polish If you ever find a new "miracle cure" or anything that works well please let me know cheers dizz
  21. i really liked this movie.. i recommend seeing it. If i was the last guy in new york like he was, i would have the craziest stolen watch collection ever! haha.. one of EVERY gen lol
  22. I think i used a 1.5mm cobalt bit last time. The holes look good but they are ever so slightly bigger than a gen. I REALLY love the look of lug holes so it doesnt bother me. I actually like the oversized holes. Plus my rolexes are mostly vintage, so a worn, larger diameter lug hole may not necessarily be incorrect I would buy 3 or 4 bits if i was you. I guarantee you will break at least one of them and better to be safe than sorry. And for anyone not familiar with drill bits, I also found it amazing how fast a cobalt coated bit will cut through the stainless compared to a titanium or other type of coated bit. It really pays to get the right tool for the job, especially for precision work like this.
  23. These BCE''s are absolutely awesome. I recently got the black dial ultimate from Angus and its freeking amazing and with strong AR. I got the diamond bezel model but i was looking for a blingy watch anyways. Dont hesitate to order from Angus. Hes great to deal with.
