  1. That looks very familiar! I love my 5513 Gilt Underline, with a 1520 ticking away inside. New old stock steel vintage-lumed hands coming soon... drilling out the lugs and trying a different bezel/insert as well. Need to find a great bracelet as the weather change means no more leather for the summer. I pretty much go steel bracelet late spring, summer, early fall then leather or NATO in late fall through winter. Not that anyone cares haha One of the pics is of an attempt at aging the bezel insert. I'm going to have 3 bezels that I'll swap between before I decide on a "permanent" insert. I'm also getting a NOS tropic-19 genuine Rolex plexi. Beachcomber - your watch looks GREAT!
  2. my lil old 5513 with gen 1520 ticking away still not quite done with it but enjoying it
  3. Really? PureTime, Toro? Trusty, BK.... all shut down? Me thinks thou did not do much reading or looking.
  4. So true... that's an absurd thing to do and a useless "watch."
  5. This watch belongs under my thread "Let's play who's dumb enough?" haha
  6. Sporting the 5513 today New hands coming soon Gen Pearl still searching Drill bits ordered to mill out lugs
  7. God I love that... I'd never take it off, just...gorgeous. Congrats:)
  8. Yeah I definitely am one to lean on the side of caution rather than over-doing it or ruining it. Some people want the watch to look like it's been through hell and back... honestly the pictures are very sharp, it's more neutral and pleasing in person. I did over-do it a little bit by the "10" where the tool slipped and bit some of the face. Probably not the last insert I ever have on it or try thanks for the reply
  9. So I did a bit of aging to my insert on the 5513. I used a dremel tool "fine-detail abrasive brush" then polished it a bit. These are ultra high res pics taken with a Canon DSLR so it really shows everything. I took an iphone shot as well. Less harsh looking in person, and I'm happy with it, the black gloss of the insert is gone, it's a little barked up - and now looks the business of a 50+ year old watch. Tell me what you think please!

  11. Borderline impossible for me to answer, but out of the collection I currently have I would have to say the Zenith El Primero 4021 or the 5513 I am currently working on perfecting. The Zenith is of course genuine. The 5513 needs a gen pearl, hands relumed with vintage lume mix I've ordered, and the lug-holes drilled to 1.3mm - all of that will happen in next 2-3 weeks. Pictures attached. It's fun to listen to the seemingly almost erratic tic of the high-beat El Primero 4021 versus the Rolex Cal.1520 slow and steady beat. The straps on them are 5513: Hodinkee Horween Shell Cordovan single nato Zenith 4021: handmade Italian crocodile blue leather with zenith deployant
  12. My parents had a 328i premium ediiton, rear wheel drive, stick. It drove the same way when they traded it in 8 years later as it did when it came off the dealer lot. No problems ever, tight, fun, comfortable beautiful car. It was green with tan leather. Xenon lamps.... I loved it. I've often considered buying one for myself but it would be bad for business image... so I drive my Honda Accordion.
  13. What is that, a 1-series? What do you hate about it?
  14. Yeah it's a neat case - accepted 1520 mvmt and gen bezel etc.. but definitely needs lug holes widened.
  15. I got it from the Miller Dave he did the PCG work - watchmaker polished for me.
  16. 5513 today with gen movement Coming soon: * reluming hands with vintage lume * drilling out lug holes to 1.3mm * adding gen vintage pearl
