  1. Broadly speaking the higher the price the better the rep. A clone 2836 is directly swappable with the genuine ETA or any Swiss clone. The big issue is the 2836 places the crown too low on the case. It is up to you to decide if you can live with this. If it were me, I would go with @tframo‘s advice and buy the 3135, then budget another hundred Bucks just in case it died and needed a modder to rebuild it. The V numbers are versions, the A, AA etc is total BS and not worth listening to. Stop for a moment and consider who decides what is only AA and what is AAAAA plus, do you think there is a Chinese board of counterfeit goods that awards and enforces the standard? No of course you don’t ? It is all very baffling at first. We know, we have all been there, but the more you read, you find it slowly starts to make sense Oh and just to help out if you don’t already know A3135 is described as a clone, but it is just an Asian 2836 with rather silly and pointless decoration plates that make it look slightly similar to a Rolex 3135, pointless, because it has a solid case back and anyone that knows enough to be opening the case back isn’t going to be fooled. I despise them SH3135 is physically the same dimensions as the 3135, looks similar, same dial feet position, same hand size etc, but no interchange parts. Found in Noob watches, it was unreliable, but is now reported as much better SA3135 clone of 3135 with the majority of parts interchangeable with genuine Rolex parts, but obviously not of the same quality or finish as Rolex parts, found in BP watches. Actually a BP would be worth considering for this model Generally because of the conditions these watches are built in, the movements are dirty regardless of which movement is bought. Opinions vary, some immediately send a new watch for a service, others run to failure then get it serviced and repaired.
  2. Hello and welcome to our community. See I’m late to the party and you are already asking questions, good for you. We are pretty easy going, just use a bit of common sense as to where to ask a question. Not much point asking a question about Rolex in the Panerai area. General discussion can be a good place. However a good few of us just stream all recent posts, so we pretty much pick up on anything posted anywhere. Oh, and you can always reach out to me or one of the other Mods by PM if you are stuck.
  3. Enjoying the craic, Fifteen years is a long time, high time you visited us again mo chara.
  4. Bundoran is the edge of the world. It is about an hour and a half from me or 90km. Ballyshannon where that performance was recorded is a little bit nearer and is of course The Home Town, as it was Rory Gallagher’s home Town and is still very proud of him. I know both places well, but haven’t been in a while. Curious side note is that Rory Gallagher very nearly became a guitarist with the Stones. “Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! beware the Jubjub bird, and shun the Frumious Bandersnatch”. Why the hell I had to learn that at school still escapes me!
  5. Not blasphemous at all, it’s your watch and as you say, it is totally reversable.
  6. Happy 2000th mate. Always good to have you around, here’s to the next 2000?
  7. TC 16610LV models do come up on M2M sales. However they are no longer available new and didn’t originally come with engraving.
  8. You know you can directly upload images to this forum without any third party hosting? Just click on choose files and select straight from your hard drive
  9. Hello and welcome. It might help us to help you if we knew a little more about your project and also your budget. I would imaging Minh could help you with one at a price. A quick look didn’t find one on his site, but that doesn’t mean to say he can’t supply one. http://vintagewatchesmq.com/minhquy/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&category_id=146&page=shop.browse&Itemid=1&limit=20&limitstart=20
  10. No it’s not just you, this thread was originally from 2008 and due to a change of platform, software upgrade and photobucket rule changes, a lot of the links don’t work anymore.
  11. @Comex? I have edited your post to remove your email address from public view. For your own protection it isn’t advisable to post any personal details. I have however forwarded your post as originally written to @ogladio Anyway welcome to our community, I hope you enjoy your time with us. You can always post a question in a thread or if you need help contact a Mod.
  12. Glad you got sorted on that mate, but let’s not forget the most important question - where is Miss Understood? err, I mean tell me some good news about the Omega Bumper.
  13. I wouldn’t be in any rush to sell a 14060, they look better by the day. Personally I think they are currently under valued, especially as the 114060 isn’t anything like as distinct from the 116610 as this is from the 16610. They all had through lug holes as well, which is nice
  14. I think ordering for the first time is a little bit scary for most of us. If you don’t have a watch or only have a couple, then obviously you are kind of excited and waiting for the delivery. I long ago reached the point where I have more watches than is in anyway sensible. I usually order, then more or less forget about it, it shows up when it shows up. They mostly do show up. I think I am waiting on five watches from here and there at the moment, I’m not even sure.
  15. Welcome to the forum, sorry for the late reply, I somehow missed your post
  16. Born just a few miles from where I was born (somewhat later). His third clock, with wooden gears is at Nostell Priory, a Palladium country house near Wakefield and not far from his birth place. The gears and workings are all made of wood, I have seen it a many times. Last year I was walking in London and by chance found the place where he lived his final years and died. Camden just off Red Lion Square
  17. Welcome isn’t quite appropriate because you have been here a while, but good luck selling here @blueradish
  18. I don’t know of a watchsmith in Norway, but there are plenty of options in Europe. @Ado213 UK, @slaughterer Germany, @SSTEEL Finland, @Natas78 Belgium.
  19. Get yourself an iPad for Christmas mate
  20. Somehow I’m guessing a guy who drops money on that watch already has the mortgage paid off and a few toys stashed away
  21. When it comes to watches I’m a simple guy. I like Daytona’s and Speedies well enough, but most of all I like three hands that go round or even just two come to that. From an engineering point of view I appreciate these tour de force pieces, but they kind of leave me cold. For a million Bucks I would rather have a whole collection of vintage pieces
  22. We are a Brotherhood. What goes around, comes around. Everyone started as a noobie, but before too long one finds oneself able to pay back kindness shown by helping others with the knowledge one has acquired.
  23. @lelloarena The OP @chiman12 is still around, so if he still has the pictures maybe he could load them straight to the forum. Unfortunately a lot of forums lost pictures in threads when Photobucket changed it’s policies and not everybody had backups of their pictures elsewhere. Try looking at some of @rolojack‘s vintage Daytona builds as well.
