Calming the Mind | Financial contribution needed.
RickFlorida replied to Stephane's topic in General Discussion
Great idea. What is sad though, is our stress is even worse than in France. In the U.S., we don't get 7 weeks of vacation like the French do. We are too enslaved by corporate greed. This Turbulence Zero should have a demand here. -
Newer Cartel 5513 bezel assembly construction
RickFlorida replied to RickFlorida's topic in The Rolex Area
Hi there. Well since 28.2mm is the original spec diameter of case neck, yes a good aftermarket entire bezel assembly should fit. But this means you need all 4 bezel pieces together. Im new at this but I believe only WSO on eBay, or Clark's are readily available bezel kits. But also remember that there are slightly different crystal sizes so I recommend you look at JackFlash's "updated cartel 5513 " thread. I will build mine soon. -
Is an mbk bracelet any better than the Yuki or cartel? If so, where could I buy one?

Newer Cartel 5513 bezel assembly construction
RickFlorida replied to RickFlorida's topic in The Rolex Area
In case anyone else wants to know, the neck size is around 28.1 so I think you can buy a proper bezel assembly. So it's ironic. 119 for a great case and bracelet, but you need to spend around 140 for aftermarket bezel assembly ( all 4 pieces). Glue failed my insert within weeks but a great case otherwise. Is it difficult to manufacture the correct bezels? -
Newer Cartel 5513 bezel assembly construction
RickFlorida replied to RickFlorida's topic in The Rolex Area
Thank you sir. Interesting they nailed the case back that takes Rolex opener tools, dial size, and even the thread tap for crown tube is correct but they didn't care to use a proper size bezel ring so they just glued the insert? I guess it's too expensive to make a spec bezel. -
Hello everyone. I have a newer Cartel 5513 and I was please wondering if I understand correctly about the bezel assembly. I noticed these inserts are just glued on top of the bezel instead of press-fitted in. Has anyone confirmed that the case neck is about 28.2 mm so could we theoretically purchase an WSO complete bezel assembly for 5513 and would those bezels then use press-fitted bezels that snap in? Thanks, Rick

Thanks for posting this. But it seems Yuki buckles are never in stock. I guess the profit or sale of these items are too small.

Nice. Size 7 in U.S. ? You are a compact dude! Are you over 5'5"?

How do you guys find a replica anything on aliexpress? Searching finds me no replicas for any item. I assume you have to know which stores but I don't know any. Thanks.

Cartel 1665 GW (new case set) ETA 2836 or 2824?
RickFlorida replied to Time taker's topic in The Rolex Area
Maybe I'm confused but why would thickening the movement ring/ spacer not address stem height? -
Cartel 1665 GW (new case set) ETA 2836 or 2824?
RickFlorida replied to Time taker's topic in The Rolex Area
I'm working on using 2824 in a new cartel 5513. I am not done yet. From what I understand its just easier to use 2836. The 2824 is thinner so what I will do is measure total width of the original 2813 with dial and movement ring and simply thicken the movement ring using brass soldered onto the movement ring and shave/sand accordingly. If the 2824-2 is thinner it should be easy to use them. -

Spline tools for rolex or after market crown tubes
RickFlorida replied to RickFlorida's topic in The Rolex Area
Thank you for the info and tips! I will use this. Cheers. -
Hello, I was please wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the Cartel Submariner bracelet endlinks and the WSO solid endlinks on Ebay? In other words, what is the purpose that it is suggested to change them out. Is it because of fit, the construction, etc.? I took the endlinks off to look at them and they seem to be the same in the pictures of the WSO links, (although I can't see the inside of the endlinks on Ebay, is that what is better?) thanks for any info, Just wanting to make the bracelet better as much as I can.

Hi Gents, It's been a while but I need to finish my 7928 replica project. Anyways.... I'm kind of confused about which internal spline tool to get in order to install an Athaya 702 crown. Here is what I understand or at least think I understand...... I have a new generation Cartel 5513. To remove that crown tube I could simply do the rat tail file trick or screw extractor trick to remove it. So I don't necessarily have to source that spline tool, although I suspect it's the 3.00 mm internal spline rolex tool? Now here is the kicker..... I bought an Ebay rolex tube removing tool for the 7030 which I think is a 3mm internal spline tool. It does NOT fit the Athaya crown Tube. So can someone please confirm for me..... Does the 2.7mm rolex internal spline tool fit the Athaya crown tube? I ask because while one person posted in a previous thread that it does.... I have never seen anyone else mention what tool to use on Athaya 702 crown tube. There is a dual rolex spline tool set on Ebay that has two sizes which I think are the 2.7mm and the 3mm commonly used rolex crown tube tool sizes. That may serve my purpose.... But Adrian says his tube doesn't use a rolex size? The real confusion is that Adrian himself who is kind enough to respond to emails says it uses a torx bit size and NOT a rolex spline tool size. WTF? Maybe there is a miscommunication because when I look at the crown tube under magnification it seems to have a lot of teeth than any standard torx bit. But then again I'm not used to looking at small torx bits. So many people build with Athaya 702 tubes but I can't find a direct confirmation of the tool. Anyone have any ideas on what actual tool fits the Athaya 702 crown tube so I can install it? Thanks, Rick

Great link, but I think you missed what I was saying. If you wear contact lenses, many of them block UV light. So you can get away with buying cheap sunglasses if you wear contact lenses that block UV light. You would still get UV light damaging your eyelids, face, and parts of your eye other than your cornea and pupils would still get UV light.... so it's not perfect.... but the import part of your eye, the cornea and pupils would be blocked by good contact lenses.

He go's by "Nostalgia2000 on ebay but say's "Clarks watch parts". So I think that's how you buy Clark's parts? -
Ah man, both of his guides have no pictures anymore. Too bad that posts that are stickied don't get permanently hosted images.

Edge's Guide To Some Rolex Modifications
RickFlorida replied to Edge's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Yep... no images really sucks. But I appreciate that this post was made. There should be a way to permanently host images these days. -
Hello everyone. I finally got to the point where I am doing my first modification and will be installing a new plastic crystal for a 5513 type case. I know that for metal we can steam clean parts, etc..... I also know that you can use rodico to pick up dust or oils and that you should use a blower to blow out dust. But my question is.... do you guys also wipe the inside of the plastic crystal before assembly in case there are finger prints, etc on it? For my first test fit, I'm using a crystal that is not sealed in a package but has probably been handled already. When I clean metal or glass, I like using denatured alcohol because it cleans and completely evaporates quickly. But plastic watch crystals would probably be ruined by strong solvents like denatured alcohol. How do you guys clean or wipe the inside of a plastic crystal before assembly? Thank you, Rick

Does everyone in the UK get free Lasik surgery? I ask because so many people are saying it's dangerous to wear cheap sunglasses because of UV light but if you wear contact lenses, a lot of them block UV light. So if you wear contacts that block UV light, you can probably get away with wearing cheap sunglasses. Just something not a single person has mentioned so I was wondering you guys with free healthcare get free Lasik surgery? It's about 6K here in the states and you have to pay cash.

OK, thanks Sogeha. I will first try this weekend to find an M3-90 degree countersink but If I can't find one, yes please I may have to take up your help.

First, my apology for the repeating of my question. There was a glitch today where I kept trying to post one reply and it never went through. I see now that it did and they all merged? Sorry about that. Secondly, thank you so much for explaining the tools you used. This makes sense now. Very helpful to know what you used, especially since here in the States it's not always easy to find metric items so I just needed to make sure I had exact terminology. Cheers.
