Think of it like a yacht and a dinghy. You leave the Cygnet in front of your fabulous London townhouse to drive over to your valet'ed garage to take out your DB.
I never posted it. Someone sent me a DSN FIddy to look at and I had an EL and a gen at the time. The DSN hands looked really good. Much better than the EL's. But as I said i haven't seen a noob in the flesh..
Marlin-
You are so right on the blue hue. It is their big time on the gen. I have seen numerous gens and have yet to see one without a noticeable blue hue. The only one I ever saw without it was one that had been in a motorcycle accident and sent to the service center so I would bet money they used a 217 crystal.
And now you modder guys are learning what the Ziggy's, RepAustria's and Palpatine's found out years ago. Rep customers are more finicky, cheaper and far less reliable than gen owners.
Looks really sweet. That WSO (what does that stand for?) is the first crystal that looks remarkably close to gen. IMHO, that should be the crystal of choice.
Assuming the scratch is on the bezel you could try permanent black marker in the crevass? Don't laugh. Alternatively, if the scratch is not too deep you can take the whole top down with a dremel but only if the scratch isn't deep. I am surprised you struck white though. I have cut down a rubber bezel before and it was all black rubber (or whatever the synthetic material really is).
+1. The clear caseback will always be problematic and potentially never allow it to be a "super rep" but supposedly there is a better version coming out.
FInd a guy in the US if there is no one in Canada. I have sent hundreds of packages back and forth to Ziggy without incident including many high end gens.
I have tried a lot of different straps on the Fiddy and my favorite is still the basic cashmere which comes with the gen. They age beautifully without changing color like the JV and do truly look wonderfully "aged" in relatively short order. And since that is the standard strap that came with the gen it makes your watch look more gen. I have been thinking about trying the bordeaux strap though as a change of pace. It looks very dressy to me. T shoot a couple of pics when you get the new strap.
