Finally, got the scratch off of my Rolex DSSD crystal
cougar1 replied to DeeCee's topic in General Discussion
Must get some, have to do the same, although it pains me to sit down and do it. Offshore has this stuff also. -
Welcome Ben, good to have you on board. If Pam reps are your passion then you have an excellent selection of superreps to chose from.
-
No problem, not 100% sure off hand but I think the full length of stem and gen crown should be something like 19.8mm when all is done. Good luck with the mods.
-
Better order a stem just in case, sometimes the rep stem ends up being a tad too short after installing gen tube.

Anyone ever use a sticky ball as a caseback opener?
cougar1 replied to NotColorblind's topic in The Omega Area
Sticky balls are one of the best caseback openers, for some reason they open 99% of casebacks without bother, only the odd time they require a bit more than usual torque. No need for those ones that slip and put marks all over the place, they are a pita. I think mine came free from from a dealer with a watch purchase a few years ago. Great tool! -
I'd be interested in knowing this also. Are gen parts definitely not available? A good aftermarket swiss would be a good option for these reps. I've no idea of tube dia and thread type though, sorry.

No prob, I wasn't sure if you had seen it, it's well hidden in the clasp link construction. I didn't relise it was there either until it was pointed out to me It's great at the end of the day or on a hot day and you just need that little bit extra for wrist expansion. I think each side is a half link or thereabouts. I do wonder though how durable that little feature will be over time and with a lot of use. Also my screws are a little loose lately so I think some threadlocker is in order on those. It's a great rep overall, I would've liked the AR to be a little better but I've never seen the gen so I'm not sure if they were going for accuracy, but it is weak, it could be a little more transparent. -
Very nice Jack, great work, excellent franken. Sunny's crystals are superb, great quality, some of the best AR I've ever seen.

Great review Stephane, it's a great watch, that number 3 is really bothering you Also the bracelet does have a good fast micro adjust at the clasp, very good in fact, one of the best I've seen, just pull evenly and rotate the link inward or outward depending on which tighness or loosenness you want. I'm sure you've seen it but can't see it mentioned in the review. -
I dunno why he bothers removing it tbh, I know he is doing it for the sake of complete accuracy, but tbh it rules out wearing it on anything but the bracelet to keep that accuracy. It would be less work just to leave it on.

I would've said my wmp V3 was a tad better than the dial on my TC, but there is very little in the difference, slightly broader lume on the markers, it doesn't seem to be greenish though?. Then again the TC is over 6 months old so not up with the current ones, have the dials improved a little since then?

Good stuff, wow didn't even know there was ones that weren't drilled through, you got a less tempermental one than mine, The best thing to do is to put the gen on and seal it with epoxy. I don't know why Omega even bother with He valves, I think I've heard more cases where people have had water ingress from wearing an smp/Po with the He not fully tightened, than those who actually needed one for diving purposes.
-
It's usually just pressed in, Go to the internal part of the tube inside the case. You will see the stem here and a C clip on it. Stick in a small screw driver to release a C clip, (it just clips out) then you can remove the actual rep valve. After that you have access to the bare tube, it should be just a case of what is your weapon of choice after this. Some just require a quick turn with a pliers and come straight out, Others will require you to be a bit more creative and bend the tube opening into a flattish profile and then stick a screwdriver in and rotate and remove. Alternatively stick in a small needle file and file a couple of small notches in the inner tube, then get a screwdriver in there and give it some welly.. ....although I had one in an earlier PO and it seemed like it was welded to the case, I had to break the top of that out with a pliers and file down the internals to get room for the new one. Fitting the gen then is just a case of insert tube and epoxy it, you may need to countersink a small amount at the top to get gen tube to sit correctly.

Same here tbh, still humming and hawing over it. -
Jesus, messing about all round, dealers and factories. I said it before, they should sell these at half price.

I'm actually hoping they hold off for a while, on any and all new releases that is, including the Tudor black bay and a few others also, I already have a current wishlist and I've still too many watches to remove from my current lot before I can even get started on that -
No new info yet, these reps take a while, should know more by March/April. If you want to follow proceedings then there is a progress thread here (but still no news since case prototype) http://www.repgeek.c...=187824&page=33

I have the V2, great watch, love them, very comfortable I'm sure the gen strap will be fine. Someone over on rwi did the same sometime ago. I was trying to work out the differences between V2 and V3 sometime ago, I'll requote, seems they are very similar, V3 done in more colours and straight movement in display, V2 has 'decorated' rotor. (It's a sticker, but the rotor and pearlage itself is nice, never gonna be patek finishing )

Looks great, the blueish tint is nice also, seems pretty accurate vs gen, also the hands look so much better than the last, the previous versions were washed out off white, these look great.

I dunno, I do realise things don't look good, but maybe he should be cut a bit of slack, he is human after all and trying to do his best. The offer to attempt to refund at all shows he has his heart in the right place. Many would've just focked off and left the disaster trail behind them, but he he has still maintained a presence on the forums and has obviously sorted out some outstanding debts. Not everybody is gonna be satisfied with the way it is going but seriously, does anyone believe he should (or even can) front up $20K+ to sort everyone out instantly? This could take years to resolve, if ever. It's a difficult situation and feel sorry for anyone left hanging, I'm completely impartial in all of this, I just hope that people get a resolution they can be satisfied with eventually, but in the meantime life goes on, maybe displaying parts for a new build isn't the best way of making good, texski did vanish off the face of the earth so the anger should probably be directed moreso at him.

Hi Welcome to the forum. The first thing is to decide what watch you like, have a few choices so if one isn't available or if it hasn't got a good replication then you can move onto the next choice. Omega replicas are a little hit and miss at the moment, other brands such as IWC, Panerai, AP are getting more attention and have better quality, more varied options, ...but still some good Omega reps. Cant go too far wrong with a PO or smp chrono, if looking for something more recent such as the newer ceramic PO's or smps then join the queue. -
Both look great, good price also, not ridiculously overpriced. Is the black dial matte? I can't really get a good look from the pics? Looks semi glossy?
-
About to pull the trigger on a v5, some final questions
cougar1 replied to redroom's topic in The Omega Area
1. No Ceramic as yet, should be one out in the next 6 months and then it remains to be seen how good it is. If you really want a PO now you could be waiting a while for that one. Easier to pick up a current one and sell it on later if you don't like it or a nicer one comes along. The current crop of PO reps will always be sought after, as they are they are frankenable and parts available. 2. Go with the one you like, honestly they go through production phases and at one stage there was a bit of a mess up with lume on the black ones, thats all fine now though, all some have said say the orange pearl is a little better than the blacks, I don't believe this is true though, they are all slightly off in that regard. Yes easy to change bezels if needed. 3. Trevor was the go to guy for many with PO's for a while now, he sold them (a2824) at $188 for a long time so was cheaper than most dealers for the same watch. I think his prices have increased by about $20 now but still great value. Alternatively you could try Sead or Hont.
