  1. i think the new dial is great! his dials are of much higher quality than the other dealers.
  2. i use a fine wire wheel for brushing.
  3. the 45.5mm is meant to look big. and it does! looks more manly than a sub. it's the rep of all reps you must have it!
  4. very cool......
  5. holy crap! don't try this at home unless you have ALOT of patience! had to cut off one of the feet as the holes didn't line up and glue it to the dial from the back. it's so small and hard to handle but the results are good. it's funny even though the silix dial is completely wrong font placement too big numbers ect.. it's much better quality and finish than the 1:1 dial and i think it looks better. but accuracy comes first so i did the swap while waiting for my crystals to get done with the double AR coating. i still have my white dial to do yet. i may wait a few days to start as this one was no fun at all! overall the cross looks alot better but is a bit too big compared to the genuine... still WAY better then the clover it came with. on the left is the doner dial from silix.
  6. great shot here randy!
  7. i cannot believe his "watchmaker" couldn't figure out it's a rep..... he must think all reps have a cheap quartz or asian 21j movement... wow.
  8. i usually just keep pressing the rwg come back button.............. refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh
  9. how about a nice used omega..... i got my SMP and GMT for around a grand.
  10. lets start the wrist check! i'm sporting a vintage radiomir from sash.
  11. all of the handwind 44mm pams can be modded to be very accurate. the 40mm pams have not alot available as far as parts and straps. for you first pams steer clear the automatics and get a feel for a "historic" model with the swiss swanneck handwinder 6497. also get a model with a sandwich dial as well as these are pure classics in the panerai and will give you the most taste for the brands roots.
  12. ofrei sells the OEM omega dials. you may want to call them for the 45.5mm dial. the gen uses a 2892 bases "omega 2500" movement which is modified with a slow beat rate and a coaxial escapement. i believe the dial feet for a 2836 and a 2892 should match up so it should drop right in as the hands should work too. here is a shot of the movement in my gen. and the dial
  13. might i suggest a 183 radiomir or a 111h or 177h marina.
  14. dam rolli! that's alot of pams! awesome pics too. i really envy your collection and you have great taste in straps as well! why not use photobucket to host them so we don't have to click every single thumbnail and they show up in your post like this so it's easier to view and enjoy. instead of the thumbnails.
  15. the 117 case is the best. see if you can buy a case from joshua. it makes quite a difference! i wish i could find a gen movement.....
  16. nice! thanks for the link! the best part of fountain pens are no one will steal them because they can't figure out how they work!
  17. pug, this can be done by hand as it goes in pretty easy but i'd reccomend at least spend the $25 and get a cheap crystal press off ebay. check with the dealers here and see if they can get you a crystal.
  18. just spotted this if anyone wants to build a franken. pam movement
  19. i surrender! you have the best rep franken fiddy in the world!
