stilty Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Here is something new I picked up a few days ago from my watchmaker. fully serviced and regulated. Service dial and handset, so she glows like a torch. Happy Monday!
marcoxxx1984 Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Absolutely amazing friend!!! Where did you take the case? Beautiful, again!
FxrAndy Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Nice one, supprised to see the glass back but hey why not!
lhooq Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 That's a gem, stilty. It turned out beautifully! What a pair of Explorers you've got now!
redwatch Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Looks great Stilty! I remember you showing us that display back a while ago when you were working on this one. One question though - are those the correct endlinks? They look a little off to me.
sander Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 It's good to wait! look at this beauty. really a noce one. Enjoy wearing it
chiman12 Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Sweet! That looks like a gen service dial! Very nice S!!!
vlydog Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Wow T, A gorgeous timepiece; definitely worth the wait.
freddy333 Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Not a fan of the aftermarket casebacks, but, otherwise, well done, my friend.
Dizzy Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I saw on TV that all replica ROlex have see through case backs... So this MUST be a fake? lol Awesome watch. I guess if i had that awesome 1655 i would want to see that movement beating in there also!
RYM Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Cal 1570 GMT ? How ? Is the same of datejust
stilty Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 Thanks guys! Well, the see through caseback is a novelty, but the novelty is wearing off. But I must say that I enjoy seeing that blue spring beat away. @Chi, yes a Rolex service dial and handset. @Red, yes the 580s are correct for this watch, but they are a bit flat and do not fit very well. The bracelet is also period correct for the 521XXX serial. VC is '77. and @ LH... I've got a decent trio or explorers! If I can ever get the 14270 off my wife's wrist, I'd take a pic.
alligoat Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Cool watch, T! That service dial and handset make for great nite time reading!
StormTooper4 Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 That dial is sweet and that case back works for me why not show it off when its such a looker .
dieselpower Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Lovely piece T. Nice to see your work again.
polexpete Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 I tried building one of these but just couldn't get the rep right so i gave up... now i know why. Awesome piece mate.. Cheers P.
btocamelo Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Is this a Phong case set? Also...how much does a service dial & hands cost?...assuming one could get a hold of a set? I know Rolex is redoing vintages and replacing all the old tritium dials with these new luminova service dials that only say "Swiss" on the bottom.....I'm kinda torn for my project whether to keep the vintage dial look......or......try and source a new service dial/hands...I do like a well lit dial!
Ronin Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Love it. I am a big fan of the "Service Look" and wish Service Dials were more easily obtained.
Eton Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Looks great, congrats on such a great piece! Wear it well!
