Nanuq Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 $8,200 so far, for an old box full of parts. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300615711543
redwatch Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 WOW!!! Two full sets of NOS 5517 dials & hands???? Holy cow! And check out that vintage rolex caseback opener!
Jimster Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 He will withdraw the auction and sell them elsewhere IMO.
praetor Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 that is like the perfect franken kit to convert genuine 5513s and resell them....just sayin
Ephry73 Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Is this your auction Nanuq? AK=Alaska E
dluddy Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Wow, he had no idea what he had.I bet one of the mainstay VRF guys will make him an off auction offer...
HauteHippie Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Yowza. What is this doing on Ebay?
duke1973 Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 I saw this earlier when it was first listed and thought it would hit $5 or $6 grand for sure! It's already blew by that!
freddy333 Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 I saw this earlier when it was first listed and thought it would hit $5 or $6 grand for sure! It's already blew by that! If authentic, & as best as I can tell from the less than helpful pics it is, the lot should easily bring $20k+.
krpster Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Funny how people have this stuff, not sure what it is and don't bother to find out and just throw it up on the bay. Crazy Good thing there are some genuinely nice people that help them out.
danielv2000 Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 This is unbelievable! I wish I had such a box lying in the garage or attic.
woof* Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I remember last year I think, that old fellow retired military had bought his rolex at the PX. Tossed it up on the bay and it went for over 60k. He had no idea either of the value.
omegaunit Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Simply amazing! It would be nice to go to a garage sale and find a box like that.
Dizzy Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 wow! I bet theres LOTS of boxes like this hidden away and forgotten about....
Watchmeister Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 If authentic, & as best as I can tell from the less than helpful pics it is, the lot should easily bring $20k+. Thanks. I was wondering what it might actually be worth.
Ylfig Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 That´s incredible. Just makes you wonder how many boxer or parts are out there.
HauteHippie Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Hmmm, in going back over this . . . it just seems a little fishy. A treasure chest of rare military dials, pictures lacking detail (deliberately?), stored in a vintage military box (nice touch?)... I dunno, the more I look at the dials, the less convinced I am.

Not necessarily. The thing is that he doesn't know the real worth of it. I'm sure he would have heartily sold it all for $500 had he received such offer in the first 2 days of the auction..
