  1. Makes sense now, I do like the custom polish job... might have just inspired a fantasy Franken build with the pare 086 gen dial in my parts bin... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. If visual accuracy is more important to you, get the A23J version. If working chrono is important to you, get the A7750. I tread softly along the fine line separating raving insanity and lucid moments of ingenuity. The issue is I've no idea which is which mostly.

  4. If you have the Two Tone like i have...it's a matter of time before you want the Full Gold version also. I ordered this badboy 3 weeks before christmas and i received it 1 day before christmas. My Xmas was GOLDEN! Buying from Andrew was smooth as butter as usual. We all know BP does make some nice Rolies nowadays and I love this FG version! Color of the dial changes all the time depending on light. It changes from dark to light and that's just pure porn imo. Bezel clicks are crisp. Rehaut engraving is spot on regarding allignment. Bracelet is fully wrapped in gold so, also the sides of the links. The one i ordered can be found here: http://www.trustytimezone.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_7&products_id=15018 Specs: BP Factory!!! 11. The one I regret selling the most is my first franken Breitling Skyland from H-factory with the correct "1" bezel with a gen movement, dial and hands including subdial hands. It sure has a special place in my heart.

  15. Looks like a PAM91, I have a Grimlock Franken 91 that is 100% a keeper. The real question is, was that a gen bracelet or a rep titanium/Ss interchanging bracelet?!?! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Well said my friend. Except that I do not doubt for an instant that you could definitely simply go out and purchase the gen of any watch you wish. The fact is that building frankens are just more fun, minor inaccuracies at the end or not. Used gens are often not perfect either. What matters is that we build and wear these watches for ourselves, and we sometimes share our builds with others. Such projects are undertaken with personal pride and should be appreciated by all in the hobby, along with constructive comments on how to further improve or perfect them. This is what the forum should be about, and not a showdown of who has the better or more accurate build. We all could go out and purchase gens and be done with it, but where's the fun in that if we do that all the time right? 20. Likewise back to the OP's question, I'm fairly hard on my reps and they never fail. I wore an MBW Sea Dweller to hockey practice for years. One time a solid hour practicing slapshots rotated the minutes hand backward by 15 minutes, and that was the only "damage". I regularly toss a watch in the deep end of the pool and challenge kids to fetch it. No problems. I mountain bike 4-5 times/week with a watch and my left wrist has a perma-bruise from the watch beating my arm to death over bumps. Happy happy. I cut 3-4 cords of firewood with a saw affectionately known as The Fear of God then split and stack it by hand. The Sea Dweller, Frosty Flake and Big Gonzo have all taken their turn and survived just fine. I take a couple to Hawaii a couple times per year and subject them to blazing hot sand, seawater, spilled icy beers, you name it. No problem. I neglect to rinse out the salt until the bezels refuse to turn, and they don't corrode. This summer I re-roofed my shed, built another shed, built a garage and re-leveled my deck with hand tools, and the watches ticked happily without missing a beat.

  21. To get back to OP's topic my self, I have had many many pass my door and no problems to speak of. I do however stay away from chrono models so that helps so my three hands just chug along. Now this may be due to my practice of wearing gens to work although no serious pounding going on there anyway and my major activity is kayaking and again due to water hazard I wear gen, no sense taking chances. (sort of beached due to frozen lake in my backyard!)

  22. I have worn replicas doing some rough outside work and they have done Ok. They all take a beating cosmetically with nicks, scratches, crystal and bezel damage etc. Seems like the Asian 21 jewel models are the toughest mechanicals with swiss eta coming in second. As for genuine rolex...broken balance staffs, a few broken rotor jewels, and a few tangled hairsprings, but that was when I was younger and more active. In my experience the 3035 was the most fragile of the automatics but never wore a 1030 in rough conditions. Parts were easy to get back then so a little internal damage did not matter very much like it does today.

  23. Let's get something straight- you will never ever achieve perfection in a replica- it's just not going to happen- it will always be a replica. If you want perfection, go buy a gen and then you'll realize that even a vintage gen watch will have flaws probably, unless you buy a new OOTB watch from Rolex. http://vintagewatchesmq.com/ MQ also has high quality vintage parts- check him out. Only drawback is that he's in Saigon, but I've never heard anything about people having problems with him. Also realize that you're talking about high end replicas- maybe $2500-5000 usd- close to the point where you could almost buy a genuine vintage watch. BTW, welcome aboard, there's a lot to learn so keep reading and maybe buy a few inexpensive reps to get started- work your way up the ladder slowly.
