  1. Insightful perspective regarding this hobby. I think that only time and sharing knowledge are the key to a rewarding experience in the forum. I've been here for 8 years and I have posted only a little more than 200 posts and I have no problem in saying all I know about reps comes from reading the material posted here and other forums. At times threads turn a bit repetitive, the typical question being who makes the best ... But I take this as an effort to be more knowledgeable, on the part of new people. Of course there are those guys who become a pain in the neck when they want to know everything about this great sport overnight. One last thing. I don't know if I'm wrong in this but something that is very hard for me to see with sympathy is the tendency to talk about the High End reps, super reps, watches that cost a lot more than regular reps, but which may be worth much less than they expect to be sold for.
  2. I'm not sure if the lug witdh in the 7206 is 19 or 20 mm. I have an unmarked one that I bought for my Rolex Frank Ref 1500 and it's been sitting in my desk drawer for sometime ans I have no use for as I finally bought a gen.
  3. Hi: I understand you received the watch in that condition, that is not working properly. Andrew is a very responsible dealer and I´m sure hell replace it by sending you a new watch as he shipped defective píece to you. . Once you receive the new watch you can send the defective one back to him, and that´s the end of the problem. You have to be patient though as this process may take more than a few days. Good luck.
  4. I have to agree. This is the perfect example for a socially constructed perception. PP is the brand associated with wealth. Remeber the ad about never owning a PP, just taking care of it so as to pass it to the next (family) generation. The fabric strap makes it look affordaable and disposable. Pretty much like a like a fashion piece by Swatch or Fossil. Nothing wrong with these, but ...
  5. 50 Fathoms homage based on Seiko 7S36 04 NO
  6. I thought the question should trigger opinions from those who own or have owned top Rolex replicas.
  7. A little big for the wrist but I love it.
  8. I don't know why should we lie about owning a rep. When talaking to someone about the watch I wear (being this a rep) I tell them right away it's a replica of the famous watch. Generally people are be very kind and tell me they like the watch and eventually they'll say thing a replica than no watch at all. ey love to have one just like it. That's the end of the conversation. In other ocasions the one asking the question will show surprise at my open confession that I'm wearing a rep. These are the people who will never understand the fact that for many people t's more rewarding having a high end replica than no watch at all.
  9. Good thread. I think gen watches are a different story. I agree that spending 1K for maintenane is a little too much but it's worth it. I own 5 gens and wear them regularly, but more than once aweek I want to wear that rep whose gen counterpart I'll never buy., like the Breguet Type XX, the Blancpain 50 Fathoms, the Rolex Daytona and the Patek Nautilus, to mention just a few. I think Gens and Reps make a perfect combination, when it comes to enjoy this hobby.
  10. Hi fellow members: I'm not that fond of large watches and I wonder if anyone would suggest what to look for in the 40mm category. I know PAMs are large but my wrist is small and I'd love to have one that doesn't look od when I weear it. Any suggestions Thank you for your help
  11. You may try Puretime. I bought a Type XX no date auto from him, great watch.
  12. Congratulations for a great job and thank you for sharing your experience in what it turned out being a real workshop on re stitching straps. I may try it myself, now that you showed us how to do it. Cheers !!!
  13. I haven't been much active in the forum for last six or seven months, and I agree, this is a quiet place. But, I love quiet places. Without a ton of post for reading, you have more time to reflect on the content as well as the form of contributions. Thank you all for being here and let's keep this place as it is.
  14. Yo Yo Ma cello suits. Perfect for relaxing before going to bed.
  15. Great 1675. I own a gen and I'm not an expert but yours looks like a million diollars.
