  1. I have bought fine ladies watches from Puretime as well as Trusty. I'tll take more tan a week for the watch to reach you. So I guess if you decide to go ahead with the idea you'll have to give her a rain cheque. Good luck
  2. Fantastic !!! What else can you say.
  3. You are right when you say that, And that is a variable to consider when discussing vintage watches, but by the same token I think it's fair to say that Sicura watches did not and do not match the Breitling quality and reputation. Otherwise, they would have marketed the Breitling line under their name brand.
  4. Thank you Journeyman fort the explanation. Sicura may own Breitling and for sure they have brought the brand back to life in great fashion. But people should know that Breitling never made Sicura watches and insisting on spreading that myth is unfair and misleading, to say the least.
  5. Dear all: Can someone in the forum explain why would people insist on claiming that Sicura watches were made by Breitling ? That was not the case. I´m confused. The differenece in quality between the 400 Vacuum Tested poor man´s Sicura Sub of the 70´s and the 1980's gen Chronomat I own is abysmal. Obviously, not the Tudor/Rolex partnership, that everybody knows about. Cheers. Alter
  6. This is a wonderful dial. Thank you for your generous offer. Please count me in. Best Alter
  7. Your post shows you are new to watch collecting dear friend. You'll probably be much surpriseto know that Cartier, Tiffanys and other high end brand names asked Rolex to let them use a few square millimeters on Rolex dials to make a statement by associating their names tot he Rolex brand, a name that doubtless is the most pretigeous in the market, when it comes to worldwide recognition. So, if you happen to run into one of these, let us know. There will be quite a few ready to sell their etire collection to grab one.
  8. Nice display of 5512s , not o mention the PAMs. So far.
  9. I'm no expert but seconds six could be a problem as there are few if any asian movements that will be reliable. I may be wrong and I hope, so as to have some reactions that turn this post in a prolofic thread, informationwise. Cheers
  10. I don't understand quite well. You say the Ingenieur 40mm is a small rep ?
  11. I very much agree. I tried the blue dial versionat at an AD in West Palm each acouple of months ago and I fell in love with it. It has more "presence" than the 39mm Explorer. They asked $ 5.400 and would come down 5% if they shipped the watch out of state. I'm seroiously considering selling somemof my reps and a couple of gens to go that way.
  12. I like that, good try But let's say that although it may sound reasonable, that it's not true. High end vintage movements tick and many Asian movents don't. Unless you are talking about quartz movemnts ticking in general. Still, Rolex made quartz movement for the Oysterquartz, ticks quite noisely every time the center seconds hand jumps to the next position.
  13. I have to make it to Kuala Lumpur sometime. It must be so special being able to shop that way.
  14. You guys were right. He shipped yesterday. I wonder if there's a glossary for for looking up acronyms of this sort ? Thank you again
  15. I cant believe the number of replies to this thread, started by a person who is lost in his own confused world. Desrving NO ATTENTION.
  16. Thank you all for your help. It seems I have to work harder to keep updated in rep jargon semiotics. GBY and HTDINL
  17. I recently bought some watch accesories from a fellow member. Whe asked about when he was going to ship his answer was : "I will ship out 2maw". I have no clue about the meaning of the acronym "2maw" Can someone guess what I should undestand by that ?
  18. Great looking watch. I love the NOS look, as someone said before. If you want to have an even better build, look for a gen crown, smaller and thinner.
  19. Eventhough have owned several gen Rolex watches through the years, like the classic Datejust, Oysterdate,GMT and Submariners plus the venerable Explorer 1665 DR and 1016, I don't consider myself and expert. Still, the watch looks genuine to me. If you have the chance to hold the watch in your hand and strap it tpo your wrist you'll immediately know. I can´t't explain but it´s just like that. By the way, can you tell how muh they want for it ? If the price is significantly bellow the average paid for in ebay (check completed items) that could be something to be concerned. Good luck with your try.
  20. Think about the gen you could buy, not to mention a dozen super moddeed reps for that kiond of money. Despite the fact Apple is a great company, they have always targeted a segment of the market that is characterized by their vanity more than their common sense.
  21. No question about being concrned. Five reps in a parcel is a magnet for those in charge of screening packages coming from China, Germany and the UK. In this case the responsible for the loss is your dealer, who unwisely -to put it mildly - decided to to ship all the watches in one package. It's very likely the watchs will be seized and destroyed by Customs, and hopefuly, you'll not be fined. As someone said in this thread, you must ask th dealer to refund you or send you the watches you ordered again, using a different address, as far from Chicago as possible this time. Good luck brother.
