  1. On my stroll around the 'bay tonite, I sighted this little gem. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=270257784583 I have dealt many times with the seller, so don't believe this would be anything but real. ?Solid gold, and currently at A$224? Just gotta wonder where it will end up! Offshore
  2. Agreed! But one drink..................................and you're in anyones a**! Offshore
  3. Or at the very least, that's where they got the "waterproofing" for the server Offshore
  4. As is my want, I go for a "stroll around the 'bay" each night when I get home. Spotted this tonight- http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Rare-Zenith-timepie...1QQcmdZViewItem Whilst it is not a watch in the true sense of the word, it certainly "watches" time! Actually I should bid on this, so I could stick it on the wall for the missus.....would (maybe) save me a motza in phone bills But nevertheless, an interesting piece, wonder what it will bring? Offshore
  5. Hey Gran! I know this is OT....but good to see you back.....this place has been poorer for your abscence. Offshore
  6. And this from the NY times today, confirms the "business model" which ebay are focussing on! http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/14/technolo...WNFBRzvYNlwUGsg Don't worry about reps on the 'bay my friends, in 12 months, that's all you will find, and all from Chinese sellers! I note that already the "Wholesale" area, is almost devoid of local ads, all now are from HK, and China sellers. With Buy.com, wielding its not unsubstantial presence, and its "Diamond" sellers, getting free or discounted listings, the days of the small 'garage sale' seller are numbered. It will probably change the way we "hunt" our product as well. Offshore
  7. I had a look at it today as well, but decided my "old faithfull" still had a couple of years left in her! Offshore
  8. Inspect the pin/s from each side. Normally one side will be more recessed, and have a rounded top. The other side will be more flush, and appear to have a slot or split top.(Sometimes even confused as a screwdriver slot ) You push from the rounded (recessed) side, the split top must come out first. This (split top) is the part which "expands" inside the link to secure the pin, so it needs to seat in last. Hope that makes sense. Offshore
  9. J, I'm shocked.....you....download porn?....... Alan PS please email your good sites
  10. Lani, You want learning curves...how about this. I tend to work on a lot of quartz watches. Hope everyone knows the difference between a screw back, and a clip back! Had a quartz in to fit a new battery, and the back looked like it unscrewed. (Had caseback slots) So I spent some time trying various openers to unscrew it... no success. Finally frustrated, I took a closer look around the case back, and found a tiny slot to prise it off! Bloody Chinese are now making faux screwbacks, which you just clipback! And of late I have run into quite a few. So faux screwbacks = an early faux pas! Offshore
  11. GAF are such cheap pricks! Demanding money and can't even front up with the cash for a "registered" to prove receipt. Bet they still bill Rolex for plenty! Forget completely about this.... although you could send me a copy, I threw away the couple I received Offshore
  12. The admin, have been "jiggling" with various permissions to view areas, due to the creation of the platinum area. It is likely that a "box" has been incorrectly ticked! BT has asked the question within the admin area, and as soon as an admin logs in, it will be looked at! All will shortly be rectified if needed. Offshore
  13. Hmmm, Must say I am surprised at the lack of comment on this issue! I mentioned this to my wife this morning, and from someone who takes little interest in these matters, I got at least a "Wow- do you think that is fact?" Whilst it doesn't rival Watergate..... I beleive we have a potential ebaygate brewing here, and within this community I would have assumed others would have some thoughts on this matter. There ya go.... the longest BUMP seen here for some time. Offshore
  14. Have a good one mate, and as Ken said, I hope things are on the up! Offshore
  15. Here is an interesting post from a forum discussing the ebay-Paypal scenario here in Oz. If this is fact, and it certainly has a ring of truth, it explains a lot of the reasons for ebays' persistence, and gives an insight into the corporate mind and thinking of the ebay board and strategists.
  16. Great, and the best, advice. GAF can bluster all they like. Their chances of successfully actioning something like this are somewheere between 1 and 2 million to one! Never known a legal body to run with those odds. (Actually wipe your **** with the letter, prior to throwing it) Offshore
  17. Well this may now have run it's race..a news release today. http://smallbusiness.theage.com.au/startin...-911873276.html As hoped and predicted, the ACCC stuck to their guns, and fleabay were forced to back down! Certainly a win for the
  18. Well I thought using the brand "Rolex", to promote for sale, something which it clearly is not, was against ebays trading conditions?? I have no problem with an Invicta, or any other brand, but was of the belief that the use of the brand name was not acceptable. I suppose the use of "style" may tone this down, but it clearly is promoting construction of a Franken, even to encouraging the addition of a Rolex movement. Offshore
  19. He actually lied, and was a thief.....but I hear you! Maybe I'll only report him 5 times ....not as bad as 10 lashes, or getting your hands cut off! Offshore
  20. Thought this was all a bit interesting....moreso the sellers response to a question http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Oyster-Explorer-Rol...1QQcmdZViewItem Hmmm, so we can "legally" sell frankens... as long as there is no dial shown?????? Offshore PS This seller "got" me on a vintage piece about 12 months ago...gen watch, advertised as running, arrived corroded and frozen, the hands still as photographed.... seller blamed the post, and ebay could care less! Maybe I need to report this.....just to be vindictive...........
  21. Hi RVD, and welcome to our home. Great to see a few of the TRC team coming on board. I do remember you from my time there, and hope you can enjoy your stay with us as much a you did at TRC (and for as long! ) Offhore (aland @TRC)
  22. S'pose most have seen these reports. http://www.latimes.com/technology/la-fi-eb...1,5118636.story I have noticed, of late, that ebay has been far more proactive in removing fake listings, when reported. Is this due to a heightened concience? Or maybe a fear of a thinner wallet? Methinks the almighty dollar wins again. However the ramifications of this, if it goes through, may not only change the way ebay behaves, but may also have more far reaching effects on the replica market in general. !'m no fan of ebay or the way it behaves, however penalties of this magnitude, if enforced, will always bring a tear to the eye, and a lump to the throat, of anyone who has a level of financial exposure to the loser. Also the "winners" in these actions, do tend to become more empowered in pushing their own agendas. Some interesting times ahead gentlemen! Offshore
  23. Actually PW, I don't know that it is! Not something that has ever been discussed to my knowledge, and I have always taken it to be "other brands repped" Certainly it would not be where I would go to discuss a gen.... but that's just me! OT, how are you going mate, long time no speak. Offshore
