Not really sure..will look into the 5500 dial. Purchased a gen 5500 case-set.. just want to make good use of it.
I prefer Gilt over Matte.. Unfortunately, i can't find a good gilt 5500 explorer dial.....
Sorry to hear that. how about changing it to a 5508 or 6536 project? The gen crown/ tube fit perfectly. the case can be softened abit to have that 5508 (thin case) look
The wokkiness issue may well be the doomed crystal effect. I cannot remember how good/ bad was the yuki case-set. I recalled the first gen of DW 5513 case set had a thick rehault.
Gilt dialed with NDT case.. next to my gen. Both Bezel Rings are gen.
The flat plexi-glass will make the rehault look much thinner.
What hands/ crown you use? I would try to find better hands and crown.
Good to know that I am not the only one that does that. I have three dials laid on the edge of my bedroom window, getting sun-tanned everyday. i would check the color almost everyday for the past 9 months so far.. None of those dials however turned tropical.
Agree with Chief.. that's great info for alot of memebers who attempt the 16520 project. It appears that every now and then there are memeberswho want to attempt 16520 project.
chefcock, yes i have a zenith movement (modded) and hand sets in my parts drawer. perhaps i should list the zenith movement (with hand sets) on sale forum during the weekend.
very nice project.. I had two of these frankens (now down to 1). just ripped apart my black one last week as I sold the gen case (with gen case back and bezel) last week. Now have the zenith movement and chrono hands left in my part box and a gen TT band been collecting parts here and there due to my indecisive attitude (as my girl said it).
here is a pic of the old duo
