  1. oh my, excellent tropical dial....just like gen...spill the beans please can't be heat alone...the dial didnt show micro bubbles? dont beat it up..lots of gen have mint case. just let that come natually. each scartch will have a story to tell. flex
  2. bit thick for a red project...perhaps good for a white 1680? flex
  3. great...they are very good watches especially the white dial. have you decided to go with a black dial or a white dial?
  4. there's no good aftermarket dial with good tritium plot, imho. i would just get an aftermarket dial and send it to a good watchmaker to relume (The Zigmeister, Kent, vac). unless you are using a gen movement, you dont want to ruin an expensive gen dial.
  5. get the crown from eBay and tube from clarks or similar supplier. flex
  6. i have both DW MM movement, dial, and cases lying around in my parts box...funny how we paid big bucks in the past and they always ended up in part bin...shoot me pm if anybody in need of anything... might put up my v72 phong with texas dial (bought froma watch show) for sale if anyone is interested.... flex
  7. i'm sure you guys are aware..there are steel 1803s around..they were bulit in Rolex training school..usually bear no ref or serial between lugs...building 1 is costly and its probably cheaper to buy a YG 1803.
  8. you. watchmaker will know. gen tropics always fit like gloves. aftermarket one require some modifications here or there
  9. nice watch as always.. just not enough wrist shots in this thread!
  10. both dial and insert is fine. jsut the watch in that pic is not centrered. the bezel is not also positioned centre. if you move the insert to the left, the bezel insert will be off
  11. hi Philly, is it possible to post a tutorial so all of us can enjoy and benefit from it? many thanks flex
  12. can i have a look at the caseback?
  13. i cant wait to see the finished product! the tiger case set looks a abit like those Cartel vintage sub. wish smebody could post their yuki build for comparison. last i asked Yuki about the price - he said its 800 with customised engraving. phong's would be around 1250?
  14. Ubi has surely raised the bar again. what a collection there. just beatiful
  15. yeah the current offering from Cartel does not have gen bezel contruction. would be interested to hear from freddy since his build is (or was ) from a silix rep (if he hasnt changed the mid case).
  16. If using a gen movement, you should start wtih a gen 1675 (later serial with beefier case). Drop in dial, and bezel. You have a nice 1665 1655*
  17. thanks so much! beautiful dial. i'd actually sent the seller about the dial, after you bought it..
  18. wont work with this combo...i also have a gen dial laying around dial for 6536: diameter is 26,98/ 27. dial feet for 1030 dial for 5508: diameter is 27,69 circa. dial feet is 1530 when the watch is tampered by a bad watchmaker, they will do anything to fit the parts into the watch and sell it...lots of dial have been trimmed and dial feet removed. last year i went to a reputable watchmaker and saw a bunch of no crown guard dial in his part box. all of the dials with the feet removed and the edge has been shaved.
  19. looks gorgeous. any chance to show us the dial feet?
  20. I never like Craig as bond but admire what he does to Rolex vintage. sadly the hollywood will never pick someone like Butler. The next Bond will probably be a new guy with lots of potential like Ryan Gosling or something. Craig i heard had signed a three year contract for Bond movie.
  21. flex

    Best jeans

Levis Vintage Collection (LVC) for me. must be red line and all. Japanese version is more welcomed.
  22. I met with Ben and hate him (very rude). The guy only sells the watch on consignment anyways. he doesnt own the watches (maybe some now), he sells them for the local shops in TST. you can find the watches cheaper directly from the shops. i posted it on the vrf few days ago. the mods deleted my post. and i know the VRF members are reading this message.
