Yeah, it was more the bits that were totally wrong that concerned me. The US has different banking laws from Australia - it doubles the number of mistakes from even that article.
The 'best-regarded' advice in that article was "Never have your SS# printed on your checks, (DUH!)".
It has been updated to Australia as "Never have your Centrelink Number printed on your cheques" and, let's face it, that's comically useless advice.
Take this bit of advice:
"Call the three national credit reporting organisations [that don't exist in Australia] immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and Social Security number [a number that doesn't exist in Australia]"
I'm not trying to prove a point - I just don't want people thinking this email is offering legitimate advice, because it isn't.
