  1. Looks interesting. The case tube and crown look like a 702 assembly, SN is 8.7mill which would be 1985 or so. Why don't you tell us more about it? We can't look at photos and tell if a 1520 movement will fit in it
  2. It looks like a vintage tall crown, but not in very good shape with those holes- too bad. Don't know if that's wear or someone poked it with a pin or something.
  3. Typical for a 1016 is an oyster, but all three will work- rivet is early, oyster later and jubilee is the most rare. Rafflesdials is fine for bracelets Mag for watchmakers can run up to 10x. 3.5x might not be strong enough for really close work.
  4. Interesting dial- where did you get that? Sounds like you're ready for a pair of reading glasses. I use 3.50s for watch work, 1.75s for reading. But I started wearing readers when I was 42.
  5. "Did you use Clark hands for that build?" Yes, I believe so- lume is good and it matches the Ziggy C-1 lume on the dial.
  6. @Nanuq- the dial is ok- Rolex started with the white gold surrounds around 1984 until the end of the run- 1988 or so when the 14060 came in.
  7. Might want to get that 1520 movement looked at. On second look, some of those movement parts look pretty rough. With parts tough to get, it might not be worth repairing, 1520 parts can be expensive. You know Rolex doesn't make those parts anymore! And of course they frown on our replica hobby.
  8. It would be best to find a gen spec case first and then get the other parts you need. I'm not sure how good Yuki's cases are. check them out, ask around Ruby appears to be ok, but check out reviews, etc. Phong is good but expensive. Minh Quy over in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city now days) may also have cases- expensive also. The Vietnam cases are probably the best.
  9. You need 4 parts for the bezel assembly crystal retaining ring flat tension spring bezel bezel insert Of course you'll also need a T-19 crystal. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-Steel-Rotating-Bezel-Retainer-Spring-Insert-For-Rolex-5513-1680/113303777563?hash=item1a616e711b:g:zH8AAOSwAata25R0 This is an aftermarket bezel assembly, but the bezel insert isn't very good. Also, your case may not work with the correct aftermarket parts- it appears to have a lip which means it had a non-standard bezel assembly (meaning a Chinese rep assembly). You need to find a better case- check out Yuki watch, Ruby's watch, or Phong (Jewelryandwatch.com). And remember, you are undertaking an expensive project! Good luck!
  10. The engravings on your case are wrong- they're not engraved- they're laser etched. This means it's not a genuine case- sorry.
  11. I've run across the Dan Henry 1963 chrono https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dan-Henry-1963-Chronograph-Limited-Edition-Watch/202472532038?hash=item2f244da846:g:vW4AAOSw2~ZbxlYy:rk:1:pf:0 It has a Type 20 chrono feel. I do like the Seiko NH35A movement- have it in a few Invictas- seems to do well.
  12. The problem with the Yuki insert is it doesn't come with a pearl. And the website says the $49 pearl they used to have has ceased production. Now you could buy an Ofrei pearl, maybe around $25 but the shipping might cost you. Wholesaleoutlet990 sells a decent insert for $36 https://www.ebay.com/itm/BEZEL-INSERT-FOR-VINTAGE-ROLEX-SUBMARINER-5513-1680-PLASTIC-ACRYLIC-PEARL-12/310977055461?hash=item4867ad4ae5:g:-ckAAOSwsZJbROaI:sc:USPSFirstClass!77074!US!-1:rk:7:pf:0 I've used it on my 5508 twice now- unfortunately those pearls are subject to being knocked off, but I prefer an insert with a pearl.
  13. Buy an assortment for $10 and you'll be fine! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Securing-Screws-Washers-Watch-Movement-Repair-Adapter-For-ETA-2836-2834-2846/253524965623?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D52885%26meid%3Dd75ab7bc5eda4a2d8e9d5a483459a7d8%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D152962498055%26itm%3D253524965623&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
  14. Interesting! Ebel and Movado also used the Zenith El Primero movement back in the 80s and 90s, along with Rolex. I've got the (TAG) Heuer 1964 Re-Edition Carrera chronograph- it uses the Lemania 1873 movement- replacing the original V72s that were in the original Carreras of the 60s. These movements are getting better! I'd love to find the Type XX rep in gold with a white dial and date!
  15. Hello B-T! It's interesting the Ebel has the same movement as the Breguet XX. The 582Q movement that Breguet uses is a Lemania 1350. Lemania and Breguet are owned by Swatch these days. Ebel was owned by LVMH until 2003 when it was sold to Movado Group. Your replica would probably have an Asian 7750 in it giving it a slightly wider sub dial spacing. I ran into this when I bought a rep Breguet Type XX. Here's the gen I picked up recently Sorry for the bad iPhone pick! Couldn't get it to load either from Imageshack, but maybe you can click on the link and open it in another window...
  16. I have a 2834-2 in a submariner rep and it's working fine. It's in a 16800 franken with a relumed gen dial and the ST3035 case. The movement was in another rep a long time ago and I used the movement for the franken build. I don't know if the day wheel was removed or not because my watchmaker put it together
  17. I don't have a problem with the dial, but it is losing some paint along the edge. Hands are showing corrosion which is typical of Rolex hands in the 80s. The case crown guards appear to have the Submariner droop- similar to the 5513 and 1680 of that period, but could use a better picture of it. Engraving looks fine. The champagne DW is odd- unless it's aged, but otherwise I would think it would be white. I'd figure it as an 80s watch. Might check out this link https://www.fratellowatches.com/tudor-submariner-a-historical-overview/
  18. Looks nice. I wear the 1503 Date and the size doesn't bother me in the least. I like the close up of the tritium dots- cool!
  19. I think the main advantage of the franken DJs is that they have a Swiss eta and not a 3035 or the 3135- mine are over 10 years old and the etas are doing fine! Servicing those Rolex movements always costs more and frankly they don't hold up as well.
  20. Some of these dials aren't bad. But you can be sure that they are all replica dials, there's nothing refinished about them. I don't know if they come from Vietnam or somewhere else over east (China?). All you can do is look at them closely and if you like them, take a chance. I picked up one a year or so ago and thought it was very nice- now I'm just trying to figure out how to fit it in an MBW case. The seller is also selling a 1002 with a rep dial in it- making it an Explorer.
  21. Pretty sharp watch- now you just have to wear it for 20 years and let it age naturally!
  22. I'm not impressed with the three dials with the minute tracks- the 3/6/9s look too fat and the 3s stick out too much on the bottom. And like Horfan said, the 9 on #6 is funky. So that leaves J-4-1 by default. Or check ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Rolex-1016-EXPLORER-Matte-Black-Refinished-Dial/263774448049?hash=item3d6a2ea9b1:g:EVQAAOSwtrJbLbkZ
  23. I always go to Ranfft to check out movements, but the 2821 isn't listed there! You'd have to assume it 11.5 "' and based on the 2801 or the 2824. I found a 2819 http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&0&2uswk&ETA_2819 but it beats at 36000. If the 2821 is an automatic, no date, I'd figure it's thinner than the 2824, but probably not by much.
  24. A rose gold YM should be ok- the bracelet on these takes the most wear. And since it's rubber, it's not a problem. I'd probably go with a $300-400 model with a Asian eta clone movement. The A3135 is a little questionable in my mind and the SH3135 is ok but will probably need a service. I wouldn't pay the $900+ for a wrapped model. I was looking at these a while back and thought a noob RG YM might be a good watch, but check out the rubber straps- they lack adjustment, so you need to know what will fit.
