  1. this is very good info lani -- thanks for giving us the update deltatahoe
  2. @bertieng, i'm assuming you haven't ordered one of the new safari's just yet? thanks for the clarification, deltatahoe
  3. was wondering if anyone has purchased one of the new ap roo safari's. while the dial looks too white in the pictures (it should be more of a cream color), i think we all know that you really can't tell how a watch will look in person from our dealers' pictures... so, anyone want to post pics of their new safari? thanks in advance, deltatahoe
  4. @doc, well at least we will know who to thank when the black steel turns out spot onto the gen. nice work deltatahoe
  5. very interesting. i had read about the spring loaded clasp but to be honest hadn't paid much attention to it. good to know even this detail was done accurately.... thanks freddy deltatahoe
  6. @freddy333, you thinking of this one? deltatahoe
  7. i think this one is pretty super duper deltatahoe
  8. @cbr, i believe he's probably talking about oracle straps. here's my seconds at 9 aproo on a kevlar oracle strap: deltatahoe
  9. the most appropriate thing is to take it off. the best advice i can give is to look (and act) the part of a guy who might actually buy one of the timepieces in those shiny cases. armed with the knowledge about the different models of watches in the AD's cases and the ability to speak intelligently about watches (movements, etc), it should become pretty clear very quickly to the AD that you know what you're talking about (and therefore, from the AD's perspective, you could legitimately be a real buyer he should spend time on). if you don't get treated as such, don't take it personally -- ADs in my experience have an uncanny ability of hiring people who come off as pompous jerks. just my $0.02, deltatahoe
  10. please let me know when they come out with context-based spell-check deltatahoe
  11. first off, i'm not one to speak, as i've never opened a single caseback on one of my watches however, if all you need to do is replace the caseback, you can use either the duck tape method or a pair of rubber dishwashing gloves to grip the caseback and twist the old one off / tighten the new one on.... btw, i HAVE tightened a caseback or two using the above methods before taking a swim, so i'm not completely useless deltatahoe
  12. wow -- looks fantastic you mind me asking what watch you used as your base (& which collector you got it from)? thanks in advance, deltatahoe
  13. yeah, totally shameless -- i just couldn't resist myself
  14. pretty crazy. for those looking for a MUCH cheaper alternative to the comex in lot 201 above, take a peak here mine even comes with an acryllic pearl, and the tritium lume on my hands match the dial deltatahoe
  15. to be honest, there really isn't much to add to what TT already said.... last night had all the elements of a fantastic RWG evening -- nice watches, great discussion, and old friends. the best part about it all -- it was face to face, over dinner, with no need for emoticons so if you've never had a chance to meet up with a fellow RWG member, go out of your way to make it happen -- you won't be disappointed. @TT, here's to next time in manhattan beach deltatahoe
  16. interesting info dizzy -- thanks for sharing *reaches for the black paint* actually more like, *sends ziggy an email about black paint* deltatahoe
  17. @andy, i feel like it is pretty common knowledge that our dealers use "synthetic sapphire" to denote a mineral glass crystal and either "real sapphire" or just "sapphire" to denote a sapphire crystal. here's a quick example -- see the description on josh's standard asian 6497 pam 111 vs. his description of the pam 212 (which is widely known to have a mineral crystal).... if i'm mistaken, i'd be curious to hear others chime in as well.... deltatahoe
  18. i hear people make this comment regularly, and to be quite honest, i don't believe it for a second. for these guys, we have got to be a meaningful part of their business. now in terms of the factories making the watches, i'm assuming we are small fish.... just my $0.02, deltatahoe
  19. i'm curious about this one too... would you mind taking a pic of the other side of the case -- is there a faux helium escape valve on this one? if so, what does it look like? finally, who did you get this one from? thanks in advance, deltatahoe
  20. very true, she was probably just excited to be playing with daddy's favorite watches -- can't blame a kid for that deltatahoe
  21. really??!?? and here i've been feeling all secure with my WEP-secured network i guess now that i think about it, it's not that surprising....but still news to this kid deltatahoe
  22. @chief, we had dinner at town hall; the food was great and the staff didn't give us too much trouble for all of the watches we should definitely try do another GTG sometime soon; it really is a lot of fun talking watches with fellow collectors. cheers deltatahoe
  23. definitely a great evening fellas -- this was my first GTG, and it was a lot of fun to sit down and talk watches with two other passionate watch collectors. we were the last people to leave the restaurant; even after before-dinner drinks, appetizers, our main course & dessert we were still chatting away about everything from the new ap roo w/ seconds at 12, ziggy's amazing work, how reps tend to lead to gens, and of course what a great place we have with RWG... at one point with several watches on the table (probably 5 or 6) we asked our waitress which watch she liked the best, and after a little consideration she decided dave's gen 24 was her favorite. i have to admit (and i think slai will agree), the 24 has a ton of presence in person (pictures don't do it justice), it is a real looker great people, great food, great watches; it really doesn't get much better deltatahoe
