  1. this post is just the kind of thing RWG was created for: helping protect people from getting scammed as a result of asymmetry of knowledge. thanks ziggy @longshot, interesting you mention the gases, as sinn seals their cases filled with argon gas btw, if argon gas prevents any breakdown of the lubricants, does this mean i never need to get my sinn serviced? deltatahoe
  2. @freddy, so did someone order the daytona you had linked to on watch-ebay (that had pictures of a thinner case profile), and when the watch arrived it wasn't the low-profile version?
  3. my avatar is a representation of the first portion of my forum name.... deltatahoe = delta + tahoe delta = where the sacramento river meets the pacific ocean, with some of the best wakeboarding spots in northern california tahoe = lake tahoe, where i go skiing/snowboarding during the winter two playgrounds: one for the summer, one for the winter. the picture in my avatar is of my boat, a 1983 mastercraft stars & bars (two tone khaki & brown sparkles). yes, brown sparkles deltatahoe
  4. i've been thinking hard about getting three (or four ) of these nice, understated watch boxes from a guy selling them on paneristi. i like that they are simple & don't draw too much attention (in their closed position that is )... you can find them here... deltatahoe
  5. oh really? well there may be some debate about your first post.... did mystery "guest_kenberg_*" make your first post, or was it the real kenberg that made this one? you underestimate me ken. did i mention i can also throw ninja stars? deltatahoe
  6. happy two year anniversary andy it's crazy how much time we spend on here, huh? i wonder how many hours/days it would be if you counted it all up cheers deltatahoe EDIT to add: looks like your first post was here (finding someone's first post is easy; you click on their name above their avatar, then click 'find member's posts', then click to the first page of results (in your case you have 138 pages of posts andy )
  7. @watchwatcher, this is sad news to answer your questions, i am unaware of any 44mm sapphire fiddy-style crystals available anywhere....if you do manage to find one, please post about it here, as i have a mineral crystal mini-fiddy project currently underway; i certainly don't want to end up with a busted crystal.... best of luck deltatahoe
  8. looking good lanikai i should warn you -- be careful with vintage rolex -- they can be just as addictive as pams wear it well deltatahoe
  9. this is too funny, and i don't doubt that my company would be exactly the same.
  10. the watch boys are the way to go on this one imho. you can find them here... deltatahoe
  11. some nice ones in there; good group shot btw, is that a breitling strap on your black seal? deltatahoe
  12. @corgi, i have to disagree with you about the aquanaut...it's a dressy sports watch, which imho is a pretty unique combination. deltatahoe
  13. as many others have noted, just another reason why vintage rolex is the way to go.... deltatahoe
  14. one that i narrowly missed the chance to acquire (and therefore is bugging me even more than normal) is kruzer/dluddy's 024As speaking of, if anyone has an old-version pam 024 (w/o bezel ticks) that they would be willing to sell deltatahoe
  15. very nice. your side of the collection is pure base love (210 & 002) i particularly like the stack 'o pams picture deltatahoe
  16. well said CJ, and quite appropriate given all the craziness that the admin & mod staff have navigated recently. anyways, just wanted to chime in and say my thanks to all the staff here once again, thanks for everything fellas deltatahoe
  17. another satisfied customer the amount of dust the rep breitling rubber straps attract is unbelievable deltatahoe
  18. @jake, wow -- what a great story and of course a nice looking watch to boot thanks for sharing deltatahoe
  19. davidsen has (or at least had at one time) a nice AR coated sapphire crystal deltatahoe
  20. there is an easy solution to changing the date on 7750's (i actually do this on all my watches so i don't forget when setting my 7750's): before setting the date, set the time to 5:25 easy peasy deltatahoe EDIT to add: i believe the technical thing that goes wrong if you change the date during the wrong time (i believe some have called it the "witching" hours) is that you screw up the keyless works.
  21. umm... am i the only one that thinks is a little ironic that V is making this comment? deltatahoe
  22. so i picked up a genuine breitling rubber strap a while back, and thought it might be helpful to take some pictures along with an old rep breitling strap that i had for comparison purposes. the genuine rubber strap is extremely comfortable, and well worth what i paid for it. the rep rubber strap attracts so much dust it is almost comical -- i tried to clean it off a bit before taking pictures, but as you will see, it still retained a bunch of dust despite my efforts to clean it. here are the pictures (the rep strap is on top, the genuine is on the bottom): hope this helps anyone who may be on the fence about the genuine rubber strap deltatahoe
  23. i managed to find an extremely undervalued genuine 5513 on ebay a couple months ago, and bought it to see how i liked this particular vintage model, knowing that i could always sell it for at least what i paid for it. well for whatever reason, i just never really fell in love this particular watch, so i decided to put it up on TZ to see what i could get for it. as it turned out, this watch ended up being the best investment (in terms of IRR) that i made in 2007 i'm sure years from now i'll lament letting this one go, but it wasn't getting any wrist time, so i decided i'd rather have someone else enjoy it. anyways, i figured the pictures i took of the watch could be helpful for modders here who are looking to make the perfect 5513. here are the pics: thanks for looking deltatahoe ps, just in case people are curious, this particular watch was a meters first version with a 1.9 million serial, dating the watch to 1967
  24. i have also experienced this phenomenon, with a slight twist. i started as a buyer of reps, and after a while (and spending way too much money ) i came to the conclusion that there are times where wearing a gen is much more appropriate than wearing reps. all sorts of situations like formal occasions , business meetings , first dates , when you know you'll be around WIS types , going to ADs to preview future rep purchases .....you get the idea. so i've taken the approach that i should have a handful of gens for when i feel i need to be wearing the genuine article, and i have my reps for the everyday variety that i really enjoy. deltatahoe
  25. @dluddy, apple has refurbished 8 gig iphones for $349 on their site here....
