well, bidding has ended for the other breitling movement, and I must say, I have resisted SO HARD not to buy the movement. Well, do we have a poster that bought this and do a datewheel project? I really had thought about the first thing that I would do when I get this movement, would to be send it to watchmeisters' way to see if we can do the overlay project. oh well, maybe someone else richer than me will come along and get this project going.

I'd love them to make the Blackbird, which I was told by one collectors that they are, but I am not so sure on that. The Blackbird also has a large date, which I always have a passion for, as well as the seconds at 3, what I am afraid of, is that this is not a new movement, but rather, a modified Asian 7750, and we all know the story of modified 7750 and its extra gears, are we right? so that is what I worry about. I have not visited Josh's site, does anyone have a movement pic to share for this rep?

Zed, if it was me, I would go for the new version. I think the lack of the markers at 12, 3, 6, 9, actually made the dial a little bit cleaner in my opinion. I think I like that more, and with regards to your personal icon? are those bezel insert genuine? are you thinking about selling it? PM me if you are....thanks.
-
Thanks Krusty. I just remembered another thing.....has anyone notice the placement of the pearl bezel on the bezel ring itself is reversed from the gen? If you look at BT's pic on top, you'd notice that the bezel pearl falls on the recessed wave of pattern on the bezel, whereas on the gen, the pearl falls on the rising peak of the bezel itself. I don't know if anyone had discussed this before, but I just started noticing it when I was getting ready to buy. It was not a deal breaker for me then. But I wonder if the factories do this on purpose, as the rep on the aesthetic front is very close to gen, and they want to make a distinction? anyone think my theory is way off base?

Hey guys, I just got this watch too. I do have a question or two, if you SMP chrono experts can help out on this I would greatly appreciate it. Does the chroro pusher needed to be unscrewed by the ring, in order to engage the chrono. I asked that, because the one that I had picked up, does not require the outer ring to be unscrewed, in order to engage the chrono. and since that is kind of not a norm for me. The various chrono that I had encountered with the screw ring on the outside, all actually get unscrewed for water resistance, such as my BCE, and the 6263, and even on the pam 187 that we see. So I wanted to know if this is what a gen does as well, thus making that outer ring look like for cosmetic purpose only. Can someone verify that for me please? And I also have a hard time to "wind" the watch. When I received it yesterday, I pulled the crown out slightly, but even after I kept screwing the crown, the seconds hand would not more, and only after I do the shake motion, did the watch come to life. Do any of you have this happen to you as well? just wanted to say that it is indeed a beautiful piece, along with my standard SMP, I now have the small rep SMP family! Thanks guys in advance. PS. I am wearing the watch as we speak, and often can't take my eyes off of it!

Yeah the venus copy movement does not have date I don't think, as it is being used in the moonwatch movement, along with other chrono with no date function. you do need the asian 7750 movement, however, I think the dial finish on that one is pretty much the same, other than it has a date window. if I am wrong, someone please correct me. Thanks and good luck.

I've been watching a lot of French Open, but not much on the watch spotting. Hopefully Roger will be wearing his Rollie and a smile, rather than a frown, after he plays Rafa. And then we would have a Rollie/Rollie (Fed/Henin) winner circle likely.
-
So I was wondering how you choose what watch to wear?
woody replied to cableguy's topic in General Discussion
I concur with TJ. You obviously would not wear a suit to a wedding, then strap on your PO with the rubberband would you? or would you? just look at your outfit for the day, and I am sure it will come to you.....unless you play favorites in your group of watches, then it would be different. -

Euno, Please post your pic when you get it back, as I am in the same boat arranging for all of the steps that you have indicated. So I would not mind seeing the finished product!! Thanks. Indeed, this forum is great. -
careful on using these winders off the bay. they do not last long. mine last less than 6 months, and I had even attempted to turn off at time to save wear and tear
