  1. Wow, that article nearly put me to sleep. Good points, but, the abuse a watch takes while worn I would say puts greater stresses on it. Think herky-jerky movements like while driving, or bumping into someone in a crowded room. Hell, ever Jog with an automatic, or ride a motorcycle. Also, his argument about the fuzzy logic winders that stop the watch for 1/2 a day possibly upside down, or crown up/down.... So? Over time it averages itself out. Right now, my winder is stopped with the watches crown down. Last night, they were in a normal position. Think of this as pseudo-COSC testing. I think the 'randomness' of my AceTimer fuzzy logic system gives me a good read on the movements accuracy. YMMV,
  2. RE: Discounts and AD's. Having recently purchased a Gen Rolex, here is what I experienced: AD #1: "Our Prices Fixed" (Snooty) AD #2: Knowledgeable, fun, willing to show me things outside my (known to AD) price range. Took 15% off price. Shop around, there are deals out there. Almost jumped at a 20% off deal on a Breitling around last Christmas.
  3. Wow just seeing the inner workings, dial side, of the WM9 was worth the read. Great job.
  4. I like them tight...ohhh wait, we are talking about watches. Seriously though, I like them snug. I share docblackrock, dluddy, and ubi's setiments.
  5. I too seemed to miss this thread, as things have been hectic. GET WELL SOON....
  6. Surprised no one mentioned-- if you do the swap, there is a slight difference in hand sizes between the A7750 28.8 and Val/ETA 7750. The large chrono seconds hand will need forced or broached IIRC.

  8. Classic. Thanks for sharing. I think I need to watch Caddy Shack now...
  9. Very Nice. This is what this hobby is all about.
  10. Nice, would be interested to see some outdoors, daylight pics.
  11. If you are only trying to change a pesky pearl here is another tip/trick: Hot Glue a Tooth Pick -or- Epoxy/Superglue a finishing nail to the Pearl. When the glue or epoxy dries, pull up on the toothpick or nail and Viola! Be careful not to use too much that could spill over making matters worse. HTH
  12. I dunno. A step in the right direction, maybe, and if demand is high enough the 40mm market might expand into V2 and V3 supers. Wishful thinking. My wife has said she wants a GEN 048 and no substitutes. So much for my wallet .
  13. IIRC soak in Acetone, if it is the adhesive type. Some of the brave Rolex guys actually use a chisel and hammer. Sapphire is tough I guess YMMV
  14. 24mm = Yes You will need a > 7" wrist for this: http://lonestarwatches.com/bracelets.htm
  15. There is no such thing as Bad Publicity. Rep's and these forums are some of the BEST FREE advertising for the Manufacturers. Reps in many cases are like a gateway drug. Many of us own Gen's, or move up and on to Gens. To squash this community would be dumb. Especially in the current economic climate. True, some will never pony up the $$$$ for a gen, but wearing that rep Rolex in public ~might~ cause an average person to buy a Rolex. It is not until the math works in their favor that anything will or should be done. If reps turn into Napster/torrent equivalent popularity, maybe then we will have a problem. In these economic times it is not even worth it to pay their lawyers. As for PayPal, the ONLY reason they would be here is if they are "investigating a specific dispute". They are NOT in the enforcement business. They only "React" when needed. They are not paying someone to actively police this stuff. Remember, to THEM, the more transactions that flow through them the more $$$ THEY make as well. Ignorance is bliss in most cases.
  16. Another 029. Anyone know if these can be upgraded to a 2893 movement. Hands and Datewheel compatibility?
