  1. Very nice. Does anyone know the model history on the seconds hand. Arrow -vs- Box?
  2. Hmmm Great White SD in the lead in that category. Anyone have a PIC of a good quality version?
  3. It all boils down to: "How are you going to use the watch?" I wear my reps primarily for lite-duty. And would not consider for activities mentioned below. This is where the gen Seiko, Citizen, even Invicta will still have the edge. When 100m and 200m mean something. As I have commented before on other threads-- the below watch, as been on multiple scuba dives, surfing, snowboarding, on & off road motorcycling, desert camping with temperature swings from freezing to over 100'F. This watch cost me $400 in 1996 (that's $30.00 per year) . The most reliable watch I have ever owned.
  4. I would say-- still no comparison, since even the ETA's are clones. Seiko makes one of the most bullet proof auto's I have ever owned. IMHO the finer details like shock protection, water resistance, and initial build are overlooked. Perhaps dropping a genuine movement that has been serviced and properly lubed will give you a solid watch.
  5. I like it. My 18mm RAF, 20mm NATO arrived from Corvus as well.
  6. Welcome indeed. I like the CF strap on that. Nice combo.
  7. I love my AceTimer 8+12, however, being an electronics guy I felt the need to hack/mod it. AceTime Pro's Bang for the buck Quite (4 pods spinning 10' away from bed does not disturb) Great with "gens", ETA 28xx, Seiko, Miyota, Vostok AceTime Con's Fuzzy Logic = no logic Does not work well with A7750, Seagull, 50% of 21J's, or "one way" automatic movements No independent on/off per pod on the big guys like my 8+12. No manual override for CCW or CW The problem with the one way auto movements is the fuzzy logic is simply-- on MAX 1000 TPD, 500 CW then 500 CCW From my experience the A7750 needs 650 TPD CW. See the issue? All the winder does with my A7750 and Segull and some 21J's is extend their reserve from ~36 hours to ~96 hours/1 week. I hacked mine to include a CW/CCW/Fuzzy switch and separate power switch for each pod. Works with anything now. Highly recommended, but just be aware if you are A7750 heavy.
  8. I doubt the rep makers are skilled at building real faraday cases/cages. It may filter ONE type of wavelength. Also most faraday installations require grounding. A Faraday cage/case will not shield its contents from static magnetic fields. However, rapidly-changing magnetic fields create electric fields. The conductors cancel the electric fields and therefore the changing magnetic fields as well. The wall materials' thickness and skin depth set the frequency at which the cage/case suppresses electromagnetic fields. Static or slowly-changing magnetic fields penetrate the case/cage; rapidly-changing ones do not. Long story short, you are probably safe from radio waves, but not an old school magnet. The rep cases about as good as the shielding on a coax cable used to connect your cable box.
  9. Nice addition, I happen to be wearing my 177 right now, as I type this! Is it a DSN or other? Wear it well.
  10. I NEVER check tracking unless 2 weeks pass. Just hope for the best. On a side note, anyone have a watch delivered in a "T-Shirt"? Strange...
  11. All the chronos are no doubt faux. Even in the photos of the "automatics" the second had is not at 12. 21J's no doubt.
  12. Great story. The where to setup camp was very informative. So what watch did you wear?
  13. Wow, this post just converted me. I was pretty much a "Rolex Sports Model" guy until now. Thanks for making my wallet lighter.
  14. 177 For Sunday-- (Zoom from photo shoot)
  15. T39 is compatible with the MBW AFAIK, that is all or gen...
