  1. Managed to steal this BACK from my wife.
  2. Ronin

    My gens!

Very nice. I do agree you need a 14060.
  3. Good for you, be strong. I lost my Mother to smoking related causes, and my Father-In-Law just got done with Chemotherapy for Lung Cancer from Smoking. I still love an occasional Cigar, but Cigarettes- no thank you. Stay with it!
  4. Best of luck with the upgrade. This is the best forum software I have seen to date. Can't wait for the next version! ( Please keep RSS feeds )
  5. I think I might have an extra. See this post and PM me if interested. Here is what I have for parts: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Project-Kick-6536-t99463.html BTW: I just bleached one my self. Here are my findings with these Silix provided pieces: 4 Minutes in 100% Clorox Bleach = Takes the shine away, to a matte finish, but still in "well preserved vintage condition" + 1 Minute = very slight patina/fade taking shape. I held at 5 minutes as I am not going for a beater vintage, but a well preserved vintage. I would say 6 to 8 minutes to really start showing age.
  6. That insert is great Freddy... Since there has been little to no activity on my recent project post, this might be helpful to the OP. Here you will see the various Silix cases, and a no-name thicker no-crown, flat side. http://www.rwg.cc/members/Project-Kick-6536-t99463.html Tons of photos of essentially what was/is available. FYI in a recent email to Andrew/Josh most of the current stock do not have lug holes. i.e. Silix ROLS187.
  7. Thanks for the great photos. I have been on the fence on this one. I was not sure if I liked the new Bezel. After seeing these photos, I LIKE IT!
  8. Very nice. Out of curiosity, what date wheel is that? Lello? Also, nice straps? Whos?
  9. Dial Choices: (Note: Some crystals still have proctive film on them still) The Parts bin: Which Bezel/Insert to use: Eye Candy: My Thoughts, initial selection: This Dial This Case This Bezel Combo, but with no pearl or better pearl: Any and all advice, comments and criticisms welcome. This is just the beginning, and I am open to a "group" design. THANKS...
  10. It is amazing the knowledge we gain here for spotting reps. The (passed off as gen) bit, I am not sure what to think, be it the subtitle/context of this post or the kid doing it. In some ways, are we becoming rep-snobs? I have caught myself numerous times, turning to my wife at a restaurant and whispering-- "that guys [insert brand] is a rep/fake". All the while, I AM wearing a rep. This is kind of a mind-f*ck. There is a sense of pleasure is being able to spot a rep, but who are we to judge. If a person wishes to carry on the charade, so be it. We are such a small percent of the population, odds are in the persons favor to play the game. I mean lets face it, by wearing a rep, we are automatically passing it off as gen to the uninformed, uneducated watch crowd. It is only when challenged that the debate occurs. Many walk the grey line with the 'yes it is a real watch' line. Quite frankly, if you are never going to see the stranger from the airplane, or party again-- who cares.
  11. I have 3 iPods. A Shuffle for fitness/runnin, a 3g Classic (6 years old and still kickin) for travel/car, and a old school Mini the wife uses. Touch in the future when the 3g dies. FWIW the iPods have used various DSP chips and sound quality varies from model to model. In fact the 1st gen (Gum Stick) Shuffle had one of best audio processing chips. Also, sound quality varies with headphones. I use Shure in ear, and love the combo. Not a fan of Sony. Burned too many times with Sony proprietary, all be it, bleeding edge technology. Zune.... per my nephew, kids with Zunes get laughed off the playground. Apple's marketing engine did too good of a job making it the "in" device.
  12. Hmm, I have seen many a TAG Heuer given in this scenario. It is somewhat plausible / believable. Unless you come from big $$$ and are graduating from the Ivy League, and can pull of going big. I think a Rolex at this point might still invoke the automatic "is that fake" response (real or gen) .
  13. And last but not least the Bicycle Chain - Cleaning Wax solution... http://www.rwg.cc/members/Bracelet-Rattle-Fix-t93590.html This is my preferred.
  14. Very nice. Does anyone know the model history on the seconds hand. Arrow -vs- Box?
  15. Hmmm Great White SD in the lead in that category. Anyone have a PIC of a good quality version?
  16. It all boils down to: "How are you going to use the watch?" I wear my reps primarily for lite-duty. And would not consider for activities mentioned below. This is where the gen Seiko, Citizen, even Invicta will still have the edge. When 100m and 200m mean something. As I have commented before on other threads-- the below watch, as been on multiple scuba dives, surfing, snowboarding, on & off road motorcycling, desert camping with temperature swings from freezing to over 100'F. This watch cost me $400 in 1996 (that's $30.00 per year) . The most reliable watch I have ever owned.
