  1. OMFG! Can you simply say VARIANCE in manufacturing! Maybe TH was making Rotors one way for 4 months, then changed mid-stream. Maybe their machine that machines the rotor broke, and they outsourced a few. Maybe the ETA 7750 "Kits" supplied to TH for their in-house finishing contained blue screws during the 10th month of the year. Christ, go look at Gen Rolex dials from one quarter of 1972 and the last quarter of 1972. One has R O LEX, and one has ROLEX. Would you take your car back because one has red spark plug wires, and the other one you saw on the lot has black? At the end of the day, isn't the rest of the watch still a REPLICA?
  2. Yes we are, they are the same thing. Scroll up to the GEN Cal 16 posted. See the 7750 and ETA logo stamped on the Gen Cal 16. Given the price paid, you got a deal either way.
  3. Simple, functional, looks good. Only complaint is the whimpy crown. A more robust crown would make it
  4. Your version is not interchangeable with Gen parts. The tension wire you describe can sometimes be a PITA. Trial and error getting it back in the right spot and in its groove. In a worst case scenario, you may even need to install it with the insert removed, and glue the insert in after a sucessful bezel install being super careful not to glue it to the case or crystal. HTH
  5. The ETA/Valjoux 7750 is like an Aircooled Volkswagen engine. Tons of variations over the years. The criteria the OP used to discount the movement and discredit Andy simply does not hold water. This whole thing seems silly. If the I received a GEN 7750 with proper Rotor for the price paid, and if it keeps good time, I would be thrilled. I think I need to side with Andy on this one.
  6. Is it me, or does Jean Alesi's subdial spacing look off. 7750?
  7. My notes show the hand sizes for that movement to be: 130 / 90 / 22 (don't have GMT size handy). Good luck finding Mercedes hands that look right in the hour and seconds department.
  8. IIRC, getting hands for this will be the biggest challenge as they are neither Miyota/DG sized or ETA sized.
  9. Strap is GEN. P.S. There is a good chance I will be listing that watch for sale as I have not worn it in months.
  10. Sorry about the hijack. Agreed, that Yuki case is NOT the GOOD YUKI case.
  11. Welcome to "Club 27" Amy... (Shame, when she was 'functional' she was a talented singer). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27_Club The 27 Club, also occasionally known as the Forever 27 Club or Club 27, is a name for a group of influential rock music artists who died at the age of 27. The impetus for the club's creation were the deaths of Jones, Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison, and[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27_Club#cite_note-0] Cobain...
  12. Popped into an AD while running some errands today. They had a most current Submariner 14060M. Guess what? It has a 704 that looks IDENTICAL to the crown on my 1680. Once again, just when you think you have it all figured out, Rolex changes it up. I will still put my 703 on it someday, just to be more period. Only a matter of time before RSC starts using 24-704's on everything.
  13. Love me some vintage Seiko's.
  14. Date wheel as well... Flagged.
  15. Also, just measured a GEN 702 that has been polished. 2.95 mm visible notches, and a total width of 3.65. Just measured a GEN 703 NON-Mono, that has 3.14mm visible notches, and total width of 3.68. So, I think what we may also have here is-- we are used to seeing the slimmer profile and less "grooved/notched" area on the 700/702 and 703 NON-Mono's. When we see the increased area of the Monoblocks we think it is too wide.
  16. I came up with the exact same 3.75 and 3.85 measurements on the 3 crowns I have. Perhaps we are falling victim to camera angles, and "Macro Mode Analysis Paralysis"?
  17. ALL THREE of these have supposedly GEN "Monoblock" crowns. The 5513 however looks to be smaller (703 mono?, and the 1665/1680 704's ???) If I were a betting a man, I would like to think the 5513 has a 24-703-monoblock, and the 1665/1680 have 24-704's. The only aftermarket crown that comes close to these are BK's, and something that came accross Justasgood's desk.
  18. @ Freddy333, Monoblock, No? (I have/had 3 of these from a reliable source).
  19. It is Gen, Monobloc 703/704. I have a non-Monoblock here that I will most likely swap out.
  20. Huh? Not following you.
  21. Here is a version 1 aka earlier version of the same Yuki case. That case does look a little thinner, and the crown guards look different. There were some documented issues with the Yuki 1680 recent version, including glued tubes, and not fitting gen movements very well. Here is mine for comparison.
