  1. That's the big assumption that I cannot agree with. By pulling the supply of ebauches the smaller companies will just go elsewhere, such as the afore mentioned Sellita or Seagull (in fact this is already being done by some companies such as Invicta). Hence the "small guy" watch company goes no where and continues to sell watches....I'm betting at close to the same volume. So in the end Swatch loses the revenue on the sale of ebauches and fails to increase market share. Sounds like a lose-lose to me. Perhaps they have some top secret market data that says otherwise.
  2. Thanks for sharing. I personally am having trouble understanding Swatch motives for this change. As a business model I cannot see this approach benefiting them at all. In effect they will be cutting off sales volume from their movement group ETA but I cannot see demand increasing for their own completed products so the result is a loss of annual sales for their movements = lost revenue. I don't get it
  3. Nice pics! Great looking piece. Like you I was not so fond of the BP at first. It is slowly climbing up to my short list. Thaks for sharing.
  4. Yeah. I thought that too. Strange. I have to agree with your colour combo too. My fave colour for the SOH is definitely black but the blue bezel looks hot on the silver dial!
  5. Always good to see another members take on my fav watch. HAve a read of my review and then we can compare notes.
  6. The 9 oclock marker on the GMT looks a little off too. Not quite centered on the tick mark near the rehaut.
  7. Yes and no. That is the right colour but you can now get it on the standard SOH. Have a peek HERE and you can build it with the configurator. At least I think that is what the OP was talking about.
  8. Nice find for sure! The one at Harbor Freight looks pretty good...so who's gonna dive in first and share some actual shots of it.
  9. Very cool videos. A great reference for the budding watchmaker and tinkerer alike. Thanks for posting.
  10. Perhaps it was the new "Stratus Silver" dial that you saw. Yes. It is quite sharp. Cool thing is that you can get it on any of the bezel colours (black, blue and bronze). As far as rep is concerned I haven't seen anything yet.
  11. Love the watch but I'm going to have to go against popular opinion. While the chrono is a lovely piece I feel that the simplicity and clean look of the SOH design is over "complicated" with the chrono version. Just me I guess. Either way an awsome watch. As for the clasp I have had zero problems in over a year and it was my daily beater for quite some time.
  12. Congrats BT. Cute little guy. I particularly like how the SOSF made it in there
  13. Cool thread! Awsome pieces Dluddy. Can't wait to see what else is to come from others. Looking forward to see Zig's faves.
  14. That is just incredible! A whole lot of talent there.
  15. Based on the pic it is a 38 since it has the sub dial at 6. However, it still possible that they are using the 46 case. Best is to get confirmation from the dealer. As for the OR strap. As already said the clasp is 20mm so it will not scale down to what you want. That is not to say that it won't fit. Quite the contrary. It will just be too big. Besides, they don't make the OR rubber in the smaller size.
  16. Dang....only 23 off from the win Congrats to the winners and thanks to wheaton for the dose of fun!
  17. Looking forward to your pics mma (mastrmindalliance ) For sure the construction is not the same as the gen but it still looks really nice. The gen is actually quite something to behold in person. The main part of the mesh is just that....mesh. So it is flexible and smooth. Before the mesh terminates to the deployant clasp it changes structure to solid links that are shaped to match the mesh exactly. Then there are about 3 to 4 links on each side to remove/add to adjust sizing. Then micro adjust is done via springbar in the clasp. Very cool! Here are a couple of shots I found showing it well. Full listing on WUS here In any case the offering that some of the dealers have is a step in the right direction. If it will fit via the adjustment available then it will look great. Cheers!
  18. Cool watch. Thanks for the review. Gotta love the Carrera series.
  19. Yup. All good. Concur with triplehd. Only addition from me is to address your question about the date location....doesn't matter. Since you will swap over the rep date wheel anyway it doesn't matter which 2824-2 configuration you get, that only changes the datewheel that get installed to the movement by the factory. Mechanically the same.
  20. Very cool. Can't wait! You gonna "dive in" on this one first Lani?
