  1. Wow! Great job all around, but exceptional work on the crown/pusher area! And, boy, does that cartel dial hold up after all these years. Too bad the only credible alternative is a $1000 MQ dial!
  2. Very nice. I love a 1016 with bone-white lume.
  3. Steel hands are much more common on the chapter-ring 1016s, but you will find gilt handsets on the earliest examples. By contrast, almost all the 6610 Explorers I've seen have gilt hands to match the dials. dieselpower: I suggest looking at ingod44's chapter dial, which is less than half the price of NDT's and looks very good.
  4. Best wishes, Cats. PAM with my coffee:
  5. Get the angle right, obscure the date window, and nobody will know this is an old photo. That's the ticket.
  6. To quote Robert Frost: "And that has made all the difference." Congratulations!
  7. Rep one Urwerk and the watch blogs will sing your praises. Rep one million Submariners, on the other hand... I've been following this guy's progress on another forum, and even now I can scarcely believe what he was able to achieve. Heck, I even wondered if it was a hoax during the early stages! But have a read and marvel at where laser-like focus, patience, and 3D printers can get you: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/one-guy-made-shockingly-good-urwerk-ur-202-watch-homage/
  8. This thread is from 2008. That said, this was one year after Antiquorum sold the notorious "SAS Seamaster 300" during Omegamania...
  9. Based on photos from his recent eBay listings, DW's fixed a number of issues with his acrylic insert--including compressing that 110 and switching to fonts that more closely match the earlier bezels (i.e. flat 'S'). Beyond that, I have no idea how the current DW bezel differs from his earlier ones.
  10. Looked at the dial again, and the text/spacing/coronet/&c. don't correspond with any of the genuine 1016 dials I've seen before. Let me also say again that I've only ever seen 1016 dials with the imprints of Stern, Lemrich, or Rolex itself. I'd take that "Singer" with a grain of salt.
  11. Thanks for the compliments! It wasn't cheap, but I'm somewhat comforted with the knowledge that builds like these aren't getting any cheaper!
  12. You can read all about it here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/149252-jw-6263-that-big-red-freshness/
  13. What we're seeing now with these asking prices of $1500-2000 is a case of extreme seller optimism. On VRM and on open bidding, I reckon most service dials would struggle to clear $700. Of course, all it takes is for one guy to click on the Buy-It-Now button for all prices to skyrocket...
  14. Definitely a redial: Look at how crooked all the text is. I should also note that I don't think I've ever seen a Singer 1016 dial before. I'll take a closer look when I get home, but don't "sofort-kaufen" unless you're willing to go for something less than genuine.
  15. The Sistem51's a very special watch, though I like the one in white best for some reason. I can't remember a Swatch getting so many people excited since the days of Swatch Guards! For me, it's the old Speedy:
  16. Not always. Off the top of my head, I can think of two movies that prominently featured obvious reps: Kill Bill (Rolex Daytona) and Drive (Patek Philippe Fantasy).
  17. My vote for dbane's Triple Six, too. Starting the specs off with "Gen MidCase" is a serious statement of intent. "Gen 2mm springbars" is just putting the boot in!
  18. Lie inconsistently and elaborately. Much more fun that way.
  19. Haven't been to Hoboken in a couple of years. I could really go for a steak at Arthur's... Vaya con cuidado, Nanuq!
  20. That looks amazing, E. Is that your own NATO?
  21. I just wrap a tailor's measuring tape around the part of my arm that's many shades lighter than the rest!
  22. Beautifully chosen colors, and the strap cuts down the visual height of the head. Not that it looks bad on the bracelet, but I (and my 6.5" wrist) worry about how far those midlinks protrude.
