For me there is two reasons. First of all, it's far more enjoyable building the watch and going through the agonizing process of sourcing the right parts. Secondly, I can spread the cost of the build out over several months. Sure, I could save up and just buy the gen, but to me, it's not nearly as fun. I wouldn't connect with the watch in the same way.
Wow!! Great looking watch! The difference in the rep dial vs gen dial is subtle in some shots, but there is a definite difference. That gen dial is just gorgeous! Love that watch on the bracelet too!!
Just show up with the movement, a set of screwdrivers and a jewelers loupe. Every shot you ever see of someone working on a watch is wearing a loupe and unscrewing something. I'm sure it will be just fine

A set of tritium hands in good shape is going to cost you a lot my friend. I would try and find a lumi set of hands if you can. I wanted to go that route but the hands are way too expensive
