The group buy is for a set of hands from Chrono24. They are different than the Yuki hands.
And the Chrono Sweep hand in that picture above has the same bulge around the tube that the DW hand has (which is not correct to the gen one)
We are also doing a group buy for new sub-dial hands. The original thread about them is here. Scroll down to post #9
As for the sweep hand, it is a definite improvement over the Yuki hand.
Either I'm too young, too naive, or just not paranoid enough, but I just don't have any sort of safe. Of course, that could be the Canadian in me (according to Michael Moore, we don't even lock our doors )
And yes, while I haven't had my house robbed before, I have been mugged at gun point.
We are organizing a group buy of the correct chrono hand from CWP. Usually you have to buy the entire hand set, and then basically throw away the hour, minute and sub-dial hands. The CWP hand is one of the best looking chrono hands. You can read more about the differences in the hands in LHOOQ's excellent comparison thread here
LHOOQ has also found the correct paint color and we are going to have the sweep hand air brushed to be more orange like the gen hand.
We need 4 more buyers for the hands. Cost will be $45.00 each plus a minute amount of money for shipping. We are going to order 10 hands and have them delivered to one US location and then we will ship them to each member from there.
Please chime in here or PM me if you are interested.
Cheers!
That's a pretty cool looking piece! Good find. Seller seems quite wrong about the movement though. It must be a typo. He's got it listed as a 7750 bi-compax
In many cases that is definitely true. I spent around that price for my Franken as well (although it also has a gen 9315T strap & 380 end links). The difference is, you can spread the money over several months instead of dropping $2,350.00 all in one go.
Wow.... I cannot believe I am hitting 7,000 posts!! So glad to be a part of this amazing community. It always amazes me how helpful each of you is with everyone. Cheers everyone!
Well a little update for you all...... I managed to pick up a Raymond Weil movement from the bay. It was for a Parfisal and it's an ETA 2892 with a DD chrono module on it. Proper seconds at 3 o'clock and runs like a champ.
Well once it arrived I removed the hands and dial and did a test fitting with the Spatiographe dial. It fits!!!! Spacing is correct. Dial feet location is correct. Only issue is the 9 o'clock pinion is right on the edge of the 10 minute counter window (which i was expecting), so I gather the best option will be to shave/cut down that pinion so it clears the dial but still runs in it's jewel.
Now for the bad news...... and I am not sure how i am going to over come this. The movement appears to fit into the rep Navi case ok with enough clearance for the depth of the movement and everything. The problem is the same problem we have with the AP cases. The ETA movement with DD Chrono module offsets the crown stem from the pushers. The gen is set up this way as well. The rep Navi cases are setup for a 7750 and have the pushers and crown stem hole in line with each other. From what I can gather, it appears as though the crown stem hole will be right at the top of the threads for the case back.
Really not sure how I am going to over come this hurdle. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
That interview led me to the Ultimate Rolex Daytona book that he collaborated on. €4000 for a book? Man, it's a good looking offering, but quite pricey!!!
