  1. Noob and "Trevor/Euro" factories have really sat back and raked in the money without significant improvements over the last 2 or 3 years. Look for a slightly better insert triangle at 12 on the current cartel model. This model has been basically stagnant for a few years. .. and welcome back, Gio.
  2. TC commissioned and brought to the market an ETA 2836 super clone. It's $120 in single quantities. This post is 2 years old, by the way.
  3. I am glad you are feeling better, Mike. Everyone please -- learn from history -- don't burn new guys out .. when someone hangs up a shingle and begins to accept work, it is so easy for them to become the next hot new thing .. then the avalanche of resulting work burns them out. Do not be so quick to scream in unison "USE THE NEW GUY HE RULES" .. it's the fastest way to make sure he is buried. Present all the options to people who ask. It spreads out the load on the craftsmen who work in our community. Vaccum in Florida does anti-reflective coatings, complex chrono servicing, and really top-flight lume work. Katt in Minnesota does not do any chronograph movements but he is skilled, friendly and prompt. He has been a trusted watch technician on the RWI board for a few years. MD2020 in Illinois has an already established Gen watch repair business and I've used his services on a couple of my favorite pieces so far. I've also used Katt and Vaccum in the past.
  4. Send it off to Vaccum in Florida. 7750 is his bread and butter ... Also perfect lume and AR. I don't know how many people I have told that you need to expected complicated troubles from complicated movements. You need to EXPECT the cost of full service in addition to the price of your watch when you buy a 775x timepiece.
  5. Love the vintage Explorer! If something happens to that folded link bracelet, it's about 40 bucks from any dealer.
  6. Use Cape Cod polishing/cleaning cloth very lightly on brushed metal. It will polish away the brushed texture.
  7. Yes, that's not even a super rep. Its a $40 piece of crap.
  8. Marlin is a member here who creates extremely work-intensive PAM replicas. Micro-machining, plating in precious metals .. etc .. etc. A true watch maker .. not just a modder. Marlin is not his full user name. I forget the rest of it.
  9. I just paged through the last 24 hours of posts on this board. There is no mention of WI being raided, altho they are great, they are not a huge presence on this board .. other boards a lot more so.
  10. Asia ETA clone .. it's your most efficient purchase.
  11. Maybe someone can confirm David Sen's new site but for now it looks VERY SHADY and I definitely would warn everyone here to stay away from it until we know more.
  12. It's your father's Vietnam watch.
  13. Think about what you are asking. Even a common home handyman charges 75 US dollars an hour to work at your house. I believe Vaccum in Florida only asks 50 to waterproof.
  14. The real question is not "are high quality reps waterproof" The question is "did the guy who assembled my watch in China remember to install all of the rubber seals" That is why no one can give you a straight answer. The real answer here is You can not know if the actual watch you receive is waterproof until you test it.
  15. The seconds hand is painted white. The minute and hour hands are bare metal .. (gilded) He doesn't understand how it's supposed to look, and why it looks that way.
  16. I wear mine is the shower with no ill effects.
  17. I thought that dude on the other forum foolishly used Cape Cod polishing cloth on this watch and erased the paint. Solvent will do that, you know.
  18. Keep in mind that a dealer can charge any price he wants. Josh and Andrew routinely charge 100 or more over other dealers. Their devoted fan base doesn't care.
  19. The rest of what? You've linked a 3135 Clone movement Sub. Are you accidentally comparing this to a Swiss model?
