  1. This is simply amazing! Eagerly awaiting the signup list! Thanks for bringing this to the community!
  2. Nice collection! Can you share the specs of the 6263?
  3. That was nice, but the end result was an homage. This one will be gen-spec. Fingers crossed.
  4. Excellent build and amazing pictures. Congratulations!
  5. So... we should start the waiting list? 1. Mir36 : 1x 5514 / 1x 5513 / 1x 1680
  6. I had to double back and check if it this was an old April 1st post. I'd like to sign up!
  7. This is a project I didn't know I wanted to do until I clicked on this thread. This sucks... but I could probably live with it.
  8. Sweet macros! Honestly, I think the old school DSN PVD case set was the best for PreA, especially after the cape cod treatment. He eventually ran out of stock and started using his PreV fat lugs with single-sided screws, then now the new-born case-sets.
  9. Is the dial print quality as good as the original noob 111j?
  10. Nice! What made you pic this over the Hfact version? I was seriously considering ordering this as a base for a 40 build. I think the lugs look perfect for an OP 6500 btw. Wish noob would do this case in SS and PVD.
  11. Singapore is a small enough place that I just may be able spot you two based on your Daytonas. Beautiful. I aspire to have enough knowledge one day to even conceive and attempt these projects. Simply amazing!
  12. This actually looks better than his first attempt, which looked like a rep parts bin special.
  13. Thanks Watchmeister. This is what the unshaped DW case looks like BTW. Notice how thick and boxy the case is.
  14. Thanks for the tip Projectologist . I mixed up my grits - 100 is for vintage CGs!
  15. My first PreV was a modified DSN with a T48 and VCG from ST4 (thanks mate ). Flash forward a few years and iterations later, and I still have the T48 and VCG (well, the housing at least). However, the other components have benefited from advances in our hobby. Here's the updated version.... PreV photo trolls may see the 9 m i a i l e influence, but given my poor photo skills, perhaps not... Shaped profile and fat (enough) lugs... The shaped shoulders... And some close-ups of the FGD and CG... The build sheet, no surprises here: - FGD v3 with semi-gloss Tamiya coat. - FGD v2 hands - Jakob caseback - T48 - VCG housing. 100 grit one-way sanding. Edges polished (thanks for the tip Projectologist). Pin lever flattened and polished (not very well... ) - Torobravo CG lever - ST36 oiled by me with H2 CP semi-flattened and polished. I'm a recent convert to Seagull movements. This baby has a 59hour power reserve! - DW case shaped by me with double-screw PreV bars Oh yes, the good stuff... I'm happy enough with this version to pull this out from the strap drawer. Thanks for looking!
  16. He can wear all the Richemont PAMs he wants. As long as he stays away from the PreVs and PreAs.
  17. Or you can be honest and tell people your hobby is building replicas of expensive watches. That's what I do, and people are usually fascinated that it's even possible. I once saw a documentary of how Ralph Lauren won some exotic automobile concourse show with a 'restored' classic Ferrari. Well it wasn't restored using gen parts. Most parts had to be fabricated. It was a 'franken ' Ferrari at best. Still it won best in show. P.S. My Spinmaster 6263. Saved $25,000 on it:
  18. Beautiful. Need to save $$$ for an RA masterpiece.
  19. You are a fountain of information M! Another excellent addition to LHOOQ's Thread Repository.
  20. For men in a family, watches create a bond across generations. I'm definitely into handing down birth-year subs. I purchased a gen 16600 (tritium) made in my elder son's birth year as my daily beater, with an eye to giving it to him after he graduates from university. However, now I am leaning towards holding onto it a bit longer and giving it to him when he's 30. Instead, when he graduates, I plan on giving him another sub made in my younger son's birth year. Hopefully he will be more careful with it given the knowledge that he has to pass it down to his younger brother. A final benefit is the scheme definitely passes muster when I have to explain to my wife why I need more watches. I'm still looking for my own birth-year sub.
