  1. My one regret in 2013 is missing out on CC's dial. If anyone wants to let go of theirs, it'll really make my 2014!
  2. HackR try flat gunmetal paint from Testor's. Or gunmetal plus flat coat. Better yet get flat black and silver then try to match the shade by mixing it yourself.
  3. Great roundup Pete! However, I really wish the makers would tackle the classic 024/025.
  4. That is sweet! Could you post a wristie?
  5. Ha ha. No I'm fine the way it is Pete. BTW, I picked up this '2nd gen' from you at 'Risti! Sent you a pm.
  6. It's not a bad primer for someone new to the brand. Thanks for sharing this.
  7. Grim: Find an old H-fact 005 case-set, they make for a passable 6502 case. You want that slightly curvy lug as seen in the pic below. Noob 111J on top, H-fact 005 on the bottom. You want the lug profile of the bottom 005 case-set for a 6502. If you polish the corners of the lugs around the lughole with a dremel and some polish, you'll get even closer to the softer edges of the 6502. Even better, get a Kuvarsit v1 DLC case (which is actually PVD'd) (BTW - I learned this from reading W0lf's posts - Thank you sir )
  8. A cool member over at HF (Elias) is making these sewn-in buckles which are great for PreV projects. I just wanted to share some quick pics of these awesome buckles next to some gen buckles. Please note , the angle in which I took the iPhone pics may make some buckles look larger. Rest assured in real life they are sized similarly. 1) Gen buckles on top. Left is a Dirk 2nd Gen (not technically Dirks). Right is Dirk 1st Gen. Bottom are Elias'. 2) A closer look at Dirk 2nd Gen (not technically Dirks): Elias on Left and Dirk 2nd Gen on right. 3) A closer look at Dirk 1st Gen: Elias on Left and Dirk 1st Gen on right. Now I just need to learn how to stitch and swap out some of my buckles. Thanks for looking!
  9. Well done. That new Jacob caseback tops it off quite nicely.
  10. What do the experts think about the new vintage FF released by DSN? Finally, 2 piece casebacks! I've got a dial ready to go!
  11. Top notch. Another build to aspire to. Thanks for showing the way.
  12. Got mine today. My pic doesn't do this dial justice, but all my FGD's came out to welcome the new Rolli/FGD masterpiece to the pamily. Now the only question is SS or PVD?
  13. I'm late to this thread, but never too late to be inspired! Thanks for posting this, it's now on my to-build list.
  14. What a great post! Thanks for the effort you put into this and for sharing.
  15. They're very nice no doubt (I have a couple), but you're a bit generous with superlatives. Southy and FGD dials are each equally good in their own way. Now don't screw this one up by spraying T-79 on it, don't need to. Neither do FGD's dials from the second run onwards. And yes I've seen gen PreV dials live and up close.
  16. Nice, but what did you do with your original vintage 6538 project with the gen movement?
  17. The PVD finish is sublime and love the shade of those 202/a indices!
  18. Very nice! Great shape to the case and a perfect PVD finish! I vote to let it age naturally.
  19. Is this our friend from Chile? The purveyor of the Angelus 240 Bridge for stem wind version on the bay? Anyone know which other parts are required to complete the conversion from key-wind to stem-wind?
  20. I have been educated! Thank you sir!
  21. I really want to order this from DSN but the midcase (lugs and low crown height position) keeps holding me back. Do the experts think it is possible to transplant the bezel assembly to a 029 midcase?
  22. + 1. Me too please. Edit: Just read the previous post. Bummer.
  23. Very nice. I need an Aquanaut.
