Thanks, Slay.
River and I had discussed this in the past- Back when I was first getting started on this project. I am not sure that he can source the rotors anymore...
-
Hmmmm. I just can't decide....
-

That's the coveted Explomariner!
-
Man... That movement is just
I may be mistaken, but the recessed pin fix may be a simple matter of simply cutting down the minute hand to allow it to sit a little lower... At least, I thought that this is what davidsen did on the 009's with the Swiss 6497's?
-
Heehee... Well, sorry to say, but I have a feeling that the 16520 will be a keeper I'll be handing that one down to my son when he's of age
-
Oh... And I have my eye on a pair of Diesel X-rotuck 796's too
-
Well, I had to raise a little cash to fund some other projects...
Daytona w/ genuine El Primero 400.
But, fret not! I'll build another 1680 some day. For now, this one takes precedence.
-
LMAO...
On one of mine, the chronos work perfect; time keeping is to +1 sec/day... Only problem is it slips when it winds!
-
Thanks, Chris! This Daytona will be my grail franken once it's completed! It's been a long time in the making; I'm looking forward to seeing it's completion
BTW- If you or JB come across one of these, please let me know...
-
I was planning on feeding it a lot of cough drops!
-
Heh, heh... The 'brushed' finish was actually done with one of those drywall sanding sponges I used it to scuff the case up to give it that worn, aged appearance:
I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the WM Kustom you got from Spags. Personally... I LOVE those fat hands!
-
What do I have to do to get one of these koalas? Do you offer wallabies too?
-
I have some hands here that came with my case kit. But... Perhaps we should talk.
What color dial do you have? In my possession is my black dial... And also a white dial, though it's seen some better days.
-
No way I'm keeping them! Future projects, if you will The goal will be to make them a little more reliable in the long run, so that someday I will be able to enjoy them on a more frequent basis...

The idea here is not something like the 47mm models with the Moljina movements and the riveted straps, but a little more civilized and smaller-wrist-friendly watch, such as a standard 44mm Radiomir case with display back...
I have to concur- I myself prefer the smaller 45mm Radiomir case due to having smaller wrists. This one fits me well, but I never seem to wear it...
For what it's worth, the dial on this one was originally meant for a 47mm case. It was trimmed down and fit my 45mm Radiomir case instead (fits pretty good too with good position on the indicies). WM provided the dial and caseback only- The case was from a PAM183 rep, and the Swiss 6497 was sourced from a different watch with the seconds hand trimmed off. So... It may be possible to custom build one (similar to what I did) if you can get a hold of the 2533 dial

For those who get it...
-
This one will be the ultimate, I could not wait for a bridge or rotor...
Only the movement is not gen rolex part?
That's correct- The movement is a standard issue 31j 36.600bph El Primero cal. 400 from an Ebel- Chris hooked me up with this beauty! I had been waiting and holding out for the right movement to come along for my case- Lots of 17j models came and went... But when this one surfaced, I knew I had to jump on it!
Oh... And the dial is a refinish on a genuine blank! Other than that... Everything else is gen
-
Micha- You finally got it?? Very nice!!
Doc- Love that DRSD! Seeing your pics again makes me realize that I need to add one to my collection as well
-
Thanks, guys As much as I love these beauties, I just never wear them.
For those asking offline about what makes a DW 6263 so much different than your typical 6263 rep- All of the answers can be found here:

Some old pics...
Taken about a year ago when I first started this project...

Indeed! I finally got my mits on a 31 jewel El Primero 400
This one is almost done. I'm currently searching for a genuine rotor and bridge for the movement...

Daytona With Secs @ 9

Modern Daytona with sec @ 9:00 would be a ref 16520. Unfortunately, there aren't any good production replications of this model out there. Best bet would be to build one...
