  1. Having upstaged (at least recently) my daily beater, beginning the work week wearing my 6536/1, modeled here by a friend with much nicer wrists Anyone looking to build a similar watch, check out the extra Yuki case I have posted for sale.
  2. I hope you are away for fun & not work. Either way, enjoy your break.
  3. Ubiquitous covered most of the normal issues, but it is impossible to make any specific recommendations based on what you asked. If you post 1 or 2 of your current pics, people can provide more specific recommendations.
  4. There are many rip-off sites, including the 2 you listed. To save yourself some headaches, as maxman suggested, you should buy from 1 of the sellers listed in the Collectors section.
  5. Thanks, but I must have been on that other planet when I posted these this morning. I did not realize that the 1st pic is the wrong watch (not the watch I was wearing today).
  6. Dinner Saturday with a couple of friends - 1 horological & 1 hormonal
  7. I am wearing the old bean-counter today (Saturday)
  8. Beautiful watch. But, then, there are few classics that are better than a pre-Daytona. Ask any man who owns 1 (or 2.....)
  9. Ending the work week with my beater
  10. Beautiful.
  11. Flashing my chs ceramic around the grounds on Thursday
  12. Funny, I was thinking the same thing (about yours & some others').
  13. If you want to hear them, shoot me a PM & I will send you a link.
  14. Looks good. If you expect to be out shopping, you can probably pick up springbars at any watchmaker or shopping mall kiosk that sells watch straps. They may not be Rolex style, but they will work just as well & may even be free. At least until the other bars arrive.
  15. Hang in there, Robbie, & keep searching out more specialists. There is likely someone out there who holds the answer, you just have to find him.
  16. Great pic.
  17. Justasgood has it right, but I will try to clarify - Part 4, the bezel retaining spring (this latches onto the top of the case (around the dial) & secures the bezel onto the case), fits inside a channel that is cut out along the inside circumference of part 1, the bezel. Install 4 into the channel in part 1 (this bezel is from a different watch, but the parts are similar) Place part 2 (the roller guide) on top of part 3 (the spacer ring) & place 2/3 on top of the case (with 2 on top). Then, place 1/4 on top of 2/3 & press the bezel down until you feel/hear it 'click'. The clicking happens when the retaining spring (part 4) compresses & then slips down around (& under) the wide lip on the front of the case. Once there, it expands a bit, locking the bezel assembly onto the case.
  18. Of course, there are always exceptions (to generalizations), but I think the original post makes the point.
  19. I strive for emotion over technique, which is why my shots never approach the quality of any of By-Tor's or some of the other pro-quality photogs here. An old pic, but my favorite wristie (today) I got bored with standard light-box style wristies eons ago, which is why I try to post more out-of-the-box compositions
  20. I would aim at cases (including the caseback) & dials (I have never seen a truly accurate Daytona or DRSD aftermarket dial & the potential market is enormous). If you really want to drive yourself crazy, do a 1:1 riveted 7205/71 or folded link 7835/271 to mate to all of those 62xx Daytonas out there.
  21. It was only after I had seen 1 of my Pams on someone else's arm that I realized how utterly huge a 40+mm watch truly is (& how silly they looked on my arm). I immediately dispensed with my Pams & returned to the classics. It sounds like others may be stumbling upon similar revelations.
  22. You are all welcome. The guy doing Lennon was uncannily good. In b&w, it is hard to tell the difference between him & the gen
  23. exper's comments come as no surprise to me. This rep is so good out-of-the-box that few, if any, gen owners would be able to ID it as a rep. Unless I spot an incorrect handstack, I, too, would have serious reservations about calling someone out who was wearing 1. With a watch like this, issues like missing AR on a cyclops or rehaut engravings are just not on the radar screens of most gen owners. These are truly Super Reps & I love mine
