  1. It's a stunner, but no way would I pay that much or buy one in that perfect condition. Its condition is good enough he can demand big money, but then you'd never want to wear the thing for fear of scratching it and losing some value. Then, what's the point? Watches are supposed to be your traveling companions and they should get beat up as much as you do. I'd rather try the one posted in the other thread at $2,350USD and have Ziggy fix the dial paint flake, then wear the hell out of it, and use the money I saved for a couple diving trips to Hawaii.

  4. Ahhhhh, things are working out as they are intended. You see, what you really want is a vintage gilt, tropical 1675. The King of GMTs.
  5. Please don't think we are disparaging your new watch. It's just that it's up there in the stratosphere of builds, being a very rare watch and it's made from exceptionally fine parts. When we point out tiny details, it's because we have a very keen eye that way and we are refining our understanding of how one of these "should" look. I see a couple other things I would change if it was mine, but we're talking about the very finest, most subtle details now. It's a very nice build, following a unique path. Please look me up if you ever decide to trade it off.
  6. Yes there are several sources for cases, like Yuki, Phong, Min, Josh, etc. Phong makes a nice case, but the supplier and hence quality vary. Once you get a case, you add parts from other watches, building a "franken-watch". This can be a dramatic, and invigorating experience.

  8. cc33, that's the Vintage Rolex Market. It's a great (and very fast moving) place to get gen stuff. Yep, that Tudor is genuine. With all said and done, after a few iterations of different rep Snowflake builds trying to get just the exact look I wanted, I had spent almost that much. Sometimes if you know exactly what you want, it's cheaper to save up and buy the RIGHT piece, one time.
  9. That's a rare breed, the Ursus BrownShortsus. His training was brief, and focused... now every time I see him I scream like a little girl. Trained? Check. IMHO the safest place to store your watches is in an empty beer bottle in the front yard. Nobody's gonna pick that sucker up.

    I'm glad he's working with you to replace it. Knowing that, I feel better commenting on a couple other things: The "H" in COSMOGRAPH is too close to the "P". The coronet is a fraction too high on the dial. Just like DW's were. The text beneath the coronet appears to be slightly offset to the left, not quite centered. Have him send QC photos of a handful of dials and post them here... we'll pick out the best for you.
  14. I have the same hands on my 'Flake, with the long-tail seconds. They've passed muster by Ubi himself and my watchmaker buddy down at the AD.

  19. Verrrrrrrrrrrry nice! Although, I hate to say it. There's one more detail you've missed. It's a show stopper in my book too. How do I break this to you? It's on the wrong wrist. It should be on MINE.
  20. I cut it down with sandpaper glued to a flat surface. The 9411 wants a T125 cyclops crystal but the T19 fits too and looks great! That's how I built that watch Asimplefarmer sold you.

  22. Agreed. Doxa is a "Swiss" brand but their movements and other components come from China.
