  1. I hear ya, buddy. I spent years splitting firewood with an old timer who wore a 6536/1 every day. I commented on it a few times and he would complain that the "turny thing on top" was always coming off and he had a brass trim ring stuck on instead of a bezel. When he passed on his widow gave it to me. It was beat nearly to death and took 20+ years to pretty much get it right again. You have no idea how many times I've walked his property and searched his garage and wood splitting yard for that bezel.
  2. The red triangle on the bezel is probably faded from mechanical wear. Under the crystal it can only happen from UV light and the reds are very very durable. The red letters on this one have been exposed to trillions of watts of UV light over the decades and it's still as red as new.
  3. It's... it's... it's the famous XXL TRL DRWWW!!! Long may it reign.
  4. This is why many mechanical devices are referred to as "she".
  5. Short answer: "yes" Long answer: https://rwg.cc/topic/188429-a-brief-history-of-the-replica-watch-forums/
  6. I spent some time on the Isle of Man with someone from the forum who I discovered is on a first name basis with performers you wouldn't believe in the rock industry. And he never mentions it. That's the mark of true talent. Do the gig and let the word get out on its own.
  7. Advice: make a 2nd bank account and feed it a little at a time. Work only from that account. Otherwise you'll wind up with a cardboard sign on a street corner... "Will work for Rolex parts"
  8. That's a fine introduction, welcome aboard! I think you'll find your path closely parallels that of many, many members here. We start off tinkering with watches, then comes the day we take the back off and successfully get it back on, then before you know it you've taken a movement out... and boogered up a keyless works. You figure that out, then you're looking at swapping dials and hands... and you're hooked. Welcome to the madness!
  9. And what an unexpected pleasure to see YOU here, HH! Wow... it's been awhile. Quelle magnifique!
  10. Okee mcdokee, here's midnight last New Years eve, with just a hint of northern lights ... same angle, same view.
  11. That's the thing, I live in the mountains so we are used to having them around all the time. We have wolves, bears, Lynx, moose, you name it. I'm really lucky to live here. Another "almost" midnight photo, it's 11:30 and the sun is up, my friend down the mountain is running his chain saw, I have my guitar and a nice Malbec on the deck, it's a warm evening (60 degrees still!) and it won't get any darker tonight. This is heaven on earth. This is how bright the yard is when I don't point the camera at the sky. It's as bright as noon on winter solstice.
  12. I think both, it's like popcorn at the movies!
  13. Yep, it happens all the time. Not a big deal.
