Great story and great Daytona, a shame if this really is the last... The aged subdials and gen coronet on the dial and the clear crystal really makes this pop!
That my friend is a beautiful sm300! Would you mind sharing specs? Have been thinking about buying a gen a couple of years too long now , ie since when they sold for around $2k lol...
You already have the Yuki 5513 caseback? Maybe easiest if you get that one modded according to your instructions. Phong, NZ and JMB are the names I come to think of.
Recognize the picture, think this is the third time it's out for sale. Think he started at $1450, now down to $1350.
Cheap? Must say I'm not really sure and that it depends on your trust of the seller and the claimed service. A few weeks back a bought a complete Rolex 6564 (with a "recently serviced" 1030) for $1250. It seems to work well, but it's amazing that almost every movement for sale on ebay is just "recently serviced".
Why spend $1000+ on a fake case for a gen model that can be had for say $4-5000? My recommendation would be that you start with the cartel 5513 or HR as a base. Yuki would be my option of you're gonna work with a gen dial (and of course also gen case). As you mention, MBW (and also DW) good - if you can find. Search around build threads - all cheaper options have flaws, you need to decide which ones bug you the most (and if you can't tell, go for the cheapest option and enjoy!)
WOW, you guys rock!!
The larger gen DW font, the better defined hands - and of course the variable PR and the big crown do make a difference. Also interested if this set you back gen price or not, but regardless again - great work [emoji106]
There is great variation on the originals (they didn't "come with one type of strap") and after ev military use and 60 years of age they're now mostly also replaced (by the makers I mentioned in previous post).
Not sure what you're looking for, do you have a gen ref picture? If you're after a vintage style leather strap in 26mm, then there are some great options (Wotancraft, Simona, Kostas, Malio, BETMAN, Gunny just to name a few).
I'd recommend Neckyzips in the US. Nightwatch is in the UK and could have massive queue, but regardless he has great parts if you plan to use the Silix 3646 as a base.
There you go, perfection. Love the pvd coating from rolli's old factory. Should according to plan get an identical specs build myself (rolli dial to replace one of yours actually).
If you're not on the 1:1 path and looking to do a (fairly cheap) fantasy build, I'd say the Tiger is great. A lot of members over at homageforum has gone this route (here I believe people like JoeyB). Be observant (or ask) about dial sizes of the specific model you're after, also decide eg if you want sapphire or plexi crystal.
