  1. Hi guys, So, I have been terrorizing rolli for many months now about starting up another pvd run so I can complete my 202/a project. As most of you know, the previous batch was of superior quality compared to anything else out there. What has happened since last run is that the pvd company has been sold to a new owner 2 years ago. Consequence is new (unknown) prices yet and MOQ of 3-4 pieces (single runs not possible). Which brings me to the point - could there be at least 3 other members here that could also be interested in hi-end pvd coating? Reply in this thread in that case. If/when we reach MOQ, I'll ask rolli to get price claim from the factory and then pm you interested. For pics, see this fitch thread: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/176656-pam-pre-v-202a-photoshoot/ Note - can't give any cost ballpark whatsoever here, but please understand that it will be very expensive and probably only for the crazy people here that have already bought rolli dials, w0lf cases or the like. Or maybe someone who'd just like to pimp their Getat case... I kindly also ask everyone to keep it civil here. If you don't like expensive services for rep parts or you don't like the guy offering this service or if you prefer Vacor pvd, perfectly fine - but no need of writing about it here
  2. Have unfortunately not dealt with matt, but he has been very helpful and guiding when I've asked (stupid) questions.
  3. Well, I'd still take cc33's red depth 6538 any day over this, but it sure looks great. Furthermore blurs the borde between gen/franken/homage, which perhaps is good for us.
  4. What a shock!! All my tools come from Alan, will treasure them even more now and keep his memory alive. My thoughts to his family.
  5. Cost estimate on this? $10k?
  6. Understand what you mean, maybe I'm damaged. Max 1k euro for a JJ modded 1655 rep with a so-so Yuki dial and WSO bezel or a 3.5k euro gen. Of course it's a big difference, and if you can live with a 6mm crown then you're all good.
  7. If going for a birth year watch, why not go gen? A 70s 1675 is still fairly "cheap" if you can use that word with vintage Rolex. Otherwise it looks as you got it covered - use the cartel 1675 base and either mod yourself or have JJ put his magic touch to it. Just remember, the gen isn't that much more expensive.
  8. Irate - that dial is BEAUTIFUL!! Great work. What dial base did you use?
  9. Your mother is in my prayers Mickey. Wish the best for all of you. Even though difficult to communicate, make sure you say all things you might feel a need of saying now.
  10. Nice Nanuq! Will need to try this with my Yuki.
  11. Oooooh, that case damn!!! Pcg at its best [emoji7]
  12. In my book, this is good enough for me to drool over. PM incoming...
  13. Very very sad to read this Micky. I had to say farewell to my grandmother a month ago, these things are never easy and for me many tears with the family were needed. Don't mind about watches now mate, there are things much more important in life such as family. Enjoy the Aston ride btw
  14. Exactly my experience too Nanuq. To me it's just a rumour that Yuki has had a 2mm version to sell previously - but could be wrong...
  15. Fitting the gen dw on the rep movement is hard, but has been done (user bmw760 with help of modder rbj...). On the 5002 the difference is not mainly font serif but SIZE, the gen is noticably bigger.
  16. Do you mean you have previously bought yuki 7206 that accepted gen spec bars?
  17. Thank you for those kind words! Can take no credit for this one, all I did was slab on a gen bracelet... It's based on a heavily modded MBK set, crystal/crown/insert gen. Dial is old school NDT.
  18. Looking good! Matt seems to be a go-to-guy, might have to beg for his help with a 6564 that I bought for the movement but happened to "borrow" to my wife while waiting for other 6538 parts...
  19. There are no good out of the box bulbs. All different versions have their flaws. Either you decide what you can live with most, or you send the bulb around to 10 different forum modders before you install it. You don't want to get called out when you light up.
