Well, first let me say that replies such as were made to chads post are pure and undisputable thread crapping for me. I don't know who benefited from making such malicious comments. I do not consider myself noob any more, but I was some 18 months ago. If anyone offered me back then to have watch I wanted with mods that are considered necessary for it (e.g. AR for HBB lites, ETA DWs on IWC chonos ...) and to have it right away, shipped w/o customs risks, and asked some premium over dealers prices - would I consider it rip-off - you bet I wouldn't, and would be very grateful to have it. Nowdays I would probably do all the stuff myself, but that is not the point here. And yes, when I was noob I spent days and days studying all data available here before making any purchases - and if anyone is lazy enough not to do that - well he has it coming. And, why do some people here think they have the authority to judge if price is fair or not, and if there are enough mods done (or is it "just AR") to be allowed to make some premium over dealer price. And, BTW, our dear dealers have over 90% markup on HBB w/AR compared to HBB Lite (wo/AR) - taking Ice Bang for example. So why is there not sticky warning noobs about that ? And why nobody posts in dealers sections when they advertise such watches ... oh, I remember - because you can't post into dealer threads ... nuf said. And, I even don't want to touch "gen-ceramic-bezel-drives-price-up" topic because it would take discussion into wrong direction. regards

Great info, thank you. But, now I'm even more confused - this means Asian clone has Incablock shock absorber and Swiss have Novodiac, and based on info I found around, Incablock is better system, and Novodiac is their "budget" system I wish some movement expert would comment on this. You are right, it will be hard .... regards

So, I noticed one of our collectors Eurotimez stated following:

Subdial spacing is off, but that was to be expected since its based on completely different caliber. regards

Well, this is funny since I was at recently open AD this morning, checking out this piece, and contemplating about buying gen (nice lady there offered me nice discount for cash) - and I come home and find that Joshua have it Of course there is one thing that coud be done better - rotor. On gen it has really specific and very nicely done rotor. Of course movement is completely different, since it's Ebel in house, but gen-like rotor would be really nice. Nonetheless, I'm getting one ... well, still can't decide red or yellow ... maybe both regards

Great watch man, it was my first rep, but I sold it because of rep rubber strap - I have a small wrist, and it really doesn't look good on small wrist because it is so stiff. Where did you get it, and how much did you pay for it ? regards

Great link, this really made my day ... I was thinking how nice would croco look on my Ingy for looong time @Pix - please keep us posted about results of your inquiry. regards

IWC Portofino Chrono.. Cream Gold Dial
z3k0 replied to lanikai's topic in The Two R's Watch Reviews - Lani & Ubi
Nice watch Lani, I think I'll add one to my IWC family quite soon Just one question - you say that you got cream dial version, and these is pic of the cream/gold dial Josh have on its site: And, this is one that is listed as white/gold: I must say that watch on your pictures look much more like white dial one ? Of course it could be because of lightning in the picture, but difference seems quite extreme. And since I REALLY love watch in your pictures, I would like to be sure what version it is regards -
Yup, I would agree, I used to have such 090 and it worked exactly like that. I think I'll go with new Portofino chrono for dress watch, although I would prefer this one, but these little things REALLY spoil it for me regards

Yes, rotor is nice, it would be even nicer if they managed to spell "reserve" correctly And this sunken datewheel really looks cheap ... maybe it'll look better in person. regards
-
Nice watch, where did you get it if I may ask ? regards
-
Well, filing down (or drilling maybe) existing tube first came to mind. If someone already went this way, it would be nice to know what diameter should tube have ? I guess I'll wait for the next weekend to take some action. In the end I can always send it to The Zigmeister, but I'm so in love with this watch right now, I want to wear it regards

So, I got one of the gen crowns from Kruzer, and since they are not able to go into handwinds due to stem problems, i decided to install it to my new shiny 229. Of course it doesn't fit tube on rep case - it is too thick. How complicated is it to replace crown tube on this case ? Where can I get one ? Any help is greatly appreciated regards
-
Well, not really, at least not Grahams - Chronofighter Oversize is out, Chronofighter/RAC is not. And that is ok if you like oversized watches But me, for one, would prefer regular one ... Oversize is really too much for me, and I kinda like to have date on my watches. regards

You can replace it with Miyota 8215, since DG 2813/4813 is actually copy of that Miyota. If you don't mind 21600 beat rate. That would be improvement as far as movement quality is considered. regards

If you ever decide to sell the strap - let me know regards

Yes, I have also replaced some parts on A7750 with swiss parts (e.g. hacking lever), but escape wheel is completely different, it has different gear and different shape. I'll try to post some pictures tonight. I'm really not sure if pallet is different - maybe different shape is just because of different manufacturing technique. But different gear is still problem. regards
-
Excellent review ! I wonder how two SIMs function ? Can you use both simultaneously (e.g. can you be connected to two different networks at the same time) or you have to switch between them ? regards
-
Is it possible to source escape wheel for new A7750 ? ETA part can't be used, nor 21600 A7750 part. Please Help regards

Got one on eBay for 125$ express shipped from USA. If it gets safely through customs it will be ~60% saving Tnx everyone for help. regards

I'm stuck - despite all my efforts my lady is stubborn and she wants to buy guess watch She saw it at local shop, and it costs ~300$. Since I think that is insane amount for quartz watch I presume there must be a way to buy it cheaper - so, that is where I need your help - does anyone know some reliable site that sells Guess watches for normal money (lets say US-like prices will do it for me) ? regards
-
I would say Swiss, with Panerai engraved plates on top. Notice that shock protection is Novodiac, not Incabloc - although I'm no expert, but I think asian 6497 use only Incablock, and I've seen Swiss with both. BTW, this one have OPII style bridges, so closed caseback is best for this (or 036). regards

It is closer to Ceramic Doppel because of center seconds hand shape, but still wrong size - 3786 is 44mm. regards

Nice to have Stan here. I'm already owner of few of their straps, and I must say their price/quality ratio is great. Only place I found that have straps for my AP ROO EoD for decent price. I'm sooo using 20% off promotional coupon And yes, shipping speed is incredible, few hours at most after receiving payment. regards
