Updated the dial and handset on this build with a Yuki meters first dial and a TC handset, giving them both a subtle creamy lume. Think I'm done messing with this one now
Another amazing watch hidden away surfaces. This 5517 came up on the Antiques Roadshow a while back, it was valued on the show at £40k and later sold at Bonhams for £120k. The original second hand was swapped at some stage, which wasn't mentioned in the appraisal (starts at 43.30):

The build has a sour side. The dial that was sold to me as a custom dial, is identical to the Helenrou dial. I believe the member I bought it from next door was duped, and subsequently I was unintentionally duped too. You live and learn:

Well, it certainly takes some weight off the lugs optically. Don't forget the new Cartel 5513 midcase is actually the one they use for the 1665, so a little thicker than it should be.
Continuing to tweak this build, I decided to send the midcase to Zocker next door for some lug work. (The standard Cartel lugs are a little plump for my taste). 3 months later the midcase came back with nicely chamfered and brushed lugs.
The Cartel 580 endlinks are open to the springbars on the underside. The WSO aren't, which is how they should be. Here's a shot of the WSO endlinks:
