  1. I took a couple of pics of the scratches and replies to the For Sale thread letting the seller know what I thought.

A bit unkind perhaps, but I tried to be polite and just let the seller know that packing things well would be appreciated by me and every other buyer he dealt with.

As panerai153 said, just imagine someone playing footie with the package - would the contents survive intact and in perfect working condition? I know a lot would say "They'll never treat packages like that!" but just do a search on YouTube, there's lots of videos showing delivery people throwing packages around, into the back of trucks, out the back of trucks, other boxes landing "Thump!" on top of your little box.

  2. Thanks for your advice :)

These were NOS, they all looked brand new and unused - no dirt or marks from being pulled or used.

Seller said he's got a few hundred right now and has sold thousands with very little returns, thinks he may have a bad batch.

I love those water proof " do not take near water" watches :)

  3. I bought 3 cheapy quartz ISA 1198 movements the other day as I want to build a couple of beaters that I don't have room for on the winder. (Well, I say cheap, $12 a piece)

    Got them today.

    Oh. Dear. God.

Movement 1. Date wheel jammed. Date wheel ratchet spring disengaged. Fixed the spring, freed the wheel. Date does not change when advancing the time.

Movement 2. Date does not change when advancing the time, adjusting the time the crown is that stiff it unscrews the crown from the stem!

    Movement 3 is ok.

And I haven't even put a battery in any of them yet!

Seller is sending out 3 replacement movements and has asked me to send these back. Send them to the bin more like it.

  4. What happens when a flower blooming in the forest and no one praises it, no one knows the scent of it, no one came by and said "Nice!", No one will enjoy its beauty, the joy of it - no one to share. What happened to the flowers? It is death? It is not painful? It has become bewildered fear not? It is not suicide?    Yep one born every minute  :good:

Xin vui lòng không ăn troll  :bangin:

    WTF?

Can I have some of what you've been drinking? :)

  5. That's the same one as Harbor Freight sells in the U.S., and I have mentioned a few times in other threads. It really does the job for those of us who don't plan on making a living with it. If you go to Harbor Freight make certian to get the online coupon, usually 20% off. That brings the price to around $10usd.

Looking closely at the pictures on EBay it seems that there are at least three sizes of the same tool.

This is the largest looking one I can find, comes with dies upto 40mm and I ordered a set of extra large dies for it too that go upto 53mm.

The smaller models I don't think you could even fit a 45mm watch into them, never mind press out / in the 40mm crystal.

So definitely watch which one you buy.

  6. Hahaha, if I want to post / see lots of that I go and visit the loonies at chew-the-fat.org.uk :)

The right tools make any job alot easier. Imagine if this is working smooth for you how the better quality stuff is. Its a smooth as a 21yr olds freshly shaven...... maybe thats alittle too much. I know some ppl here are alittle prude here lol

Haha, I think that stuff isn't allowed in the General forum!

  7. The selita movts are true super copies of the eta movt, they have one extra jewel (26j) compared to the eta 25j. The brand new ones ive seen have been oiled well and are clean. The parts are good quality just like eta. For 135$ i would say you have a great deal or the company thats selling them is selling the chinese eta copies and not telling you.

Now that i read the post again, for 135$pounds (200$us) isnt the best price. I think if you order directly from the company (not sure if they will let you) they'll be alot cheaper. But again they are a great movt, i want to say they are better then the eta movts.

    Thanks Mike.

I read on TCs blog that he couldn't make a deal with Sellita as they wouldn't sell him the small quantities he wanted, and he'll order far more than I ever would.

I'm talking with TC and he's said that the movements he has made are clean and properly oiled, so they sound ideal. Maybe not ETA or Sellita top grade but the reviews certainly put them above average ETAs, Sellitas, etc.

He replies to emails in normal human time, and I'm very, very tempted by his TC Factory Rolex YM, so I'll see if I can get one of those and two movements ordered for a couple of $ off :)

  8. I don't think there are dozens of places to see them. I don't think there are any places to see them that are vendors.

If we could walk up town and look at, handle and feel high quality reps why would we all be buying from around the world and taking risks on customs confiscating our new toys and having to wait weeks sometimes before getting them?

I think your only bet is to turn up at the next members meet up and see what people have bought to that. If you're new don't be surprised if some wont show you their really high end modded reps :)

Keep your eye in this general forum for an announcement of the next M2M meeting in your area. (Or country)

  9. All dealers carry the same watch they take from various factories.

Noob n H fact are just 2 more popular factories that make gd quality reps.

No dealer favour any particular brand.

Every dealer have their pros n cons, everyone has a gd and bad story to tell about each, luck of the draw.

Advise : stick to a dealer u r comfortable with. Dun be too affected by couple of bad buyer reviews, pple dun bother writing good ones cos they have come to expect AD svc from TDs

From what I have read off a few people here, Andrew and Angus do prefer to sell stock from a particular factory, Noob or H. I can remember which way around it is though.
