  1. Actually these where fun to look at and good prices as well. Thanks for the idea. Some casesets look good imo and the crowns are thinner than some Cartel ones, fine. Does this have any lume at all? Or maybe excellent lume? Is the case quite thin or do You maybe have the mm? Congrats, nice beater, with lugholes they really would be quite perfect (and maybe modable with dials etc.)
  2. Hi, that´s bad luck right on 2 of them. Did You try wearing the explorer for a few hours just to see if maybe it picks up? Wait for somebody to come up with a US - watchsmith. Nowadays I just think the easiest is to throw in a new us-bought movement from O. Frey and have everything changed over. Next time try Supermirrors or Toro, hopefully with better luck.
  3. If it is 7 days ago he can send one e-mail asking if everything is fine, maybe just to get a reply. If he already mailed no need to send more.
  4. Hi, the GMT is completely different (easier) to fix. You get brand new replacement movements for $120 if it´s the ETA and cheaper if the 21j, than it will run for the next 5-6 years and much longer. Where to buy/ who can do/ depends on location, just a question of time.
  5. Hi, give Torobravos a try, he has the Noob version A2813 for $138 and undecorated Asian eta for $238 and is a reliable TD. Price has a role in this because visually it´s the same, the Asian ETA seconds hand moves (a tiny bit) smoother and is more agreeable on the wrist (rotor swing) - but at the price of the 2813 You could (should) almost choose a second watch in the same order.
  6. As Mob said the biggest pressure increase is when You hit the water or get hit - pressure increases instantly. When jumping into the pool or slapping the water hard, You may get over 10 ATM. Multiple jumps increase the pressure build up, which is highest direct from the surface down to 3 and 10 meters. I have a lot of fun using divers reps that passed the 30m test for light swimming without any issue. These are $300 watches,, so even if something happens it´s much cheaper than to repair a gen.
  7. Hi, don´t wind it. Give it some gentle shakes/twist and it will start running. Use it gently, in my opinion they are not very shockproof. Date setting: never set the date between 10 and 4 positions because the datewheels are engaged (to change time at midnight) and may break. Best is to manually set the clock to 6 hours and than set the date, than adjust time. Chrono: don´t use it often, the problem is stopping and resetting, if You want to, You can have it always running but the power reserve will be lower. Also never touch the reset button at 4 if the chrono is running, always stop it first, than reset. The best position for stopping is between 50´and 10´. First stop button, than reset button. Have fun with the Navitimer.
  8. Almost 9 weeks for a TC, once 8 weeks from China for 2 reps, fastest with transhipping was 21 days, normal is 3,5 weeks. Fastest ever was 4 days from the UK, by coincidence Sead had what I wanted over there and it arrived "immediately". And from Creation Watches Singapore once purchased on a Saturday afternoon and arrived Tuesday (!) half around the world and through customs. And: 1 strap from the US: 7 weeks shipping; another hand-made strap from the US sets the record: ordered end of May, arrived beginning October:)
  9. Thanks panermania, that´s a fantastic DIY solution posted there which actually looks feasible and safe. This may be something to build in the long term.
  10. Except for new/used Rolex I´m totally out of the gen-market, specially in that price-bracket. Everything else is a money-pit, just gets monotonous after 10 years, takes an eternity to re-sell, even at a huge loss, and anything related with service does cost a small fortune too. (Well, there are still some interesting sub-$1.000 ones)
  11. Hi, specially the Asian 7750 I try never to wind it, pick it up give it some twists and it should run. Winding will grind the transfer wheels on this over time and leave fine metal dust all over the movement. But than it´s the secs at six Daytona, a well-known problematic watch, it´s because of the risks that I don´t have one. Lots of threads about it. When sending back with TT count on a runaround of 2-3 months and if it´s just repaired instead of exchanged it may have problems again as well-looking as it is. Sorry to say but best will be to start ordering another non-chrono watch with undecorated Asian ETA, while trying to sort it out and get this one exchanged, otherwise You won´t stop thinking about it. If You are in the EU a somewhat expensive modification is possible if You want to go that route.
  12. $40 sounds like a lot but it isn´t if it´s a professional test to 10 ATM and more. Maybe You find the simple and faster 3 atm test at some shop for much cheaper, if it passes for me it´s good for a swim.
  13. Very interesting story and post. Always thought that would be PAM´s. Will check this video and the expedition out later. Don´t know much about Bremont except they have partnerships with several military airsquadrons, but I do like the design and GMT function of that watch pictured. Another brand to look in as well, so it will be fun to read about expeditions, adventure and watches. Thanks for sharing.
  14. PAM-day sent via Firefox. Since upgrading to IE11 can´t post pics/paste links anymore on this forum, cleaned the cache, deleted cookies and history, the page just freezes in IE - any other trick or suggestion, please?
  15. Looks like a great watch at that price. Congrats
  16. Well-built, solid quartz moonwatch with some inacuracies but a perfect speedmaster bracelet
  17. Titanium and kind of PVD, really well done lightweight, but solid, PAM386, there are some similar like the 504, think the 441 as well
  18. +1 4 gens to the right, 8 reps to the left.
  19. Hi and welcome. You will like them. Wish You nice ones. Have fun.
  20. Finally got the logical choice, 24mm Bradystrap for this and it´s fine. Not (yet) todays pic, but the monday-watch
  21. Oh - the idea behind was to get her 2 right from the start. With lots of activity going on, it will fail, just a question of speed and high energy vs. mass, no matter what movement is inside:) Sometimes I like to sit back and appreciate the smooth-sweep of the highbeat from near, but when I just have a watch on the wrist and run around doing my business, as long as it doesn´t tick like a quartz and the 21j rotor has a tiny drop of oil on it, I really don´t care or even notice the difference. Point was that the exterior look of the watch is the same.
  22. Those listed are all Asian ETA´s, the 21j ones look the same and as beater watches sometimes are even more reliable. In this case I´d say quantity over quality, the 21js often really take incredible beatings, even being handled carelessly or thrown on the marble floor or banged into a wall (no warranty but...) Either Trusty or ask Sead to get the Cartel versions, often at (much) better prices and he had nice Datejusts. Started with 21js (all running) tried out the hyperexpensive and after having my share of nice ones into 21js again, if it brakes a new movement costs some $30-$40 and that´s it. There is a quartz Cellini without seconds hands as well $128
  23. Sead/Supermirrors is a TD over here and not over there, it goes both ways. Some TD´s also don´t even bother or ask to be listed, as much as I know.
