  1. Take a look at Martu straps. Nice lady ships fast within 2 days, handmade and best quality/price relationship in my opinion.
  2. Hi and welcome. The vintage Daytonas are quite fine and specially reliable reps. The handwound movement is nothing to put You off, its even real fun to have it that way. The modern looking Daytona is one of the most desirable but also the most unreliable rep You can buy. It´s much too thick and anyone will notice that if he´s ever seen a gen. The movement is not made for supporting the constantly running seconds at six (missing jewels despite the publicity) so it puts a lot of strain and wear on the movement itself. It´s a question of time (a few hours, a few weeks....) until it breaks down (or is worn out). The watch will not run any more at all and is just an expensive paperweight. The only somewhat successful solution is to just wear it for a few hours a week and than stop it as soon it´s off the wrist. For someone new, there are too many things to look at in a first qc-picture session from misaligned engravings to wrong positioned markers and non-resetting to 12 subdials and main hands. Another Rolex is a better and more reliable choice You will be able to enjoy for a long time. The advice would be to get another one first so You have a running watch. Than later, if You still decide to risk it, get it, when it breaks You already have another watch.
  3. Hi and welcome. All TD´s listed here on the forum are trusted. All not listed are not and may be a risk. In the $268 range You get the best value for money in my opinion, at least in the beginning don´t go below $150 and not for te ultra-expensives either.
  4. Maybe take a look at the 372 or 203 even:)
  5. It will be a fantastic week-end. Enjoy it well (and pls post the pics when You´re back)!
  6. Appreciated this review, interesting read. Congrats. Very satisfied myself with the divers like the Superocean Steelfish and more even with the SO Abyss 42mm. Are there some specific functions You are using most on the Navitimer? - just curious about. The bracelet should improve a lot with a thorough oil-bath, bought a very nice Breitling-style leather on strappedfortime.com for mine.
  7. small Egyptian - from Sead, really happy with it
  8. supposing it´s just stiff: flush it under the faucet while turning the bezel several times. Put some gloves on and just turn it until it runs smooth. Actually saw a sales post for a TC once (at higher price): free citation "mods: turned the bezel around 400x for You so it runs smooth......"
  9. Amongst favourites for Ladies is the Chanel J12 white ceramic with japanese quartz, around $160 to $220, in 33 or 38mm it´s very well done and good looking. Imo the rolesium Yachtmaster looks good as well.
  10. Hi and welcome on rwg. Choose a watch from the TDs sites, than do a research on that exact model here before ordering and it will be fine. If You don´t find anything choose something more popular and follow members advices.
  11. As it presses IN: the rep HE valves too often work the wrong way 'round. ie: you can depress the valve from outside the case so therefore they let pressure in but not out. That is the opposite of how an HE valve should work. It could be good to 2 ATM maybe 3 but that´s not a lot. Read that members just glue it with hypo cement or transparent araldite. Of course You can always go with creation watches they ship ultrafast and no extra DHL-shipping fees, as gentle suggested: http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-divers-60/seiko-automatic-divers-200m-jubilee-bracelet-skx009k2-skx009-712.html is a fine one as well.
  12. Hi and welcome, nice intro:)
  13. Good to hear and nicely written breakthrough, great forum.
  14. Hi, You might try Kenny including a re-lume job if You´re going for the expense or SSteel after You are a member for some more time and upgrade to VIP (both are not UK but EU). Before You do it pls check the background info on that HE-valve, I didn´t do it o nsome it is just an outward application (the hole it fits in is not drilled into the case). One of the best for waterproofing imo is the BP Seadweller, its also one of the best looking. I would prefer buying this with the Asian ETA from Intime (good to go with but not a TD on rwg), You could also ask Supermirrors. For double the price the best is the TC Submariner only available from TC with 2-3 months waiting time. http://intime.co/product.php?id_product=1162 http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_8&products_id=10933 also has a HE valve
  15. The movement on this seems to be just held by a plastic movement holder so what I said before about tightening screws does not apply on this special built, here´s how to open it: http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=4685 Checked it out a bit and there is no lume on the 01-92 and the screws are printed. Members send it off for re-luming. Seen the better model with screws go for $400 used on m2m with some straps. Great offer from Dan Migliore:) if it can´t be sorted in another way with Mike´s help.
  16. Hi and welcome, the DSSD looks perfectly fine to me, would wear it. Undecorated movements are the most reliable and the best. For waterproofing on these You just need silicon grease as You´ve already opened it on the o-ring of the backcase and on the o-ring of the screw-in-crown (You may carefully use a toothpick with the crown pulled out totally). (Cousins.uk or ofrey in the states sell specific ones). Do some research on the rep HE-valve, I think (unverified) it´s the only not waterproof part (normally) and has to be glued tight from the inside (which means releasing the stem and unscrewing the movement). I use specific reps for swimming regularly. Just to mention, tolerances are bigger than on gens so it might leak around the glass, the tube of the crown might not be watertight etc. but normally this is not the case, the grease is a must.
  17. Congrats on a beautiful watch with the best movement available. Does the SW200 also "feel" better in a noticeable way? It´s little brother with an Asian move and another shark says hello:
  18. Op has 2 posts, this was the second and as I understand very first rep-watch. . Would like to hear the other part before giving an opinion and was just trying to give some help on really simple to fix issues. Posting a link to another watch by the seller (if its the case) is by no means a correct attitude. But a 100% positive feedback on 12 sales is also normally not given for nothing.
  19. If You do like the size You will be amazed. Expensive but well done and a good TD as well.
  20. Hi, if the situation is as portrayed seller maybe could have handled it better but than we´re "only" talking about $188 usd here. Why send as a gift in the first place - just pay 4% more and done. Rep-strap: these sometimes are so bad they just come apart if You have them lying around for a while. Get a nice strap for the watch from +- $18 watchbandcenter.com The moving dial is just a simple fix - unscrew/open the back in a dustfree environment and with a screwdriver tighten the 2 screws holding the movement, it´s really simple, no previous knowledge needed, sometimes new ones may arrive like that. Buy a watch repair toolkit from ebay or amazon for some $15 to $20 USD as well, always comes in handy. This is just to give You a thumbsup, try to enjoy the watch and take it as some learning money, much worse is to buy a $400 + shipping latest, ultimate model with a misaligned pearl, bad lume application and uncentered rehaut engravings with markers falling off.
