This was in the family since the 1930´s and just given to me. They really knew how to make watches with running seconds at six back than. Gave it a wind and it runs like a charm keeping COSC time - incredible as it was in a drawer for ? Years. 24 hour scale on the outer rim, I like the gilt hands on it. Have yet to figure out how the backcase opens.

Vintage madness is there any hope for me?
Nightwatch replied to droptopman's topic in The Rolex Area
Just getting there as well. Since the arrival of the Mini-Egi PAM and the 5513 with 3 6 9 dial I find myself always coming back to these and the urge to buy something new is simply gone. When looking into more vintage builds - that´s a different story altogether - and more rewarding fun, to be taken with time and ease. Haven´t seen that Doxa Aqualung for quite some time Nanuq, still great as ever. -
Here is the nice and calm place to be. Abundant and qualified experience around, substantial well-founded knowledge and friendly, helpful members. It´s always like coming home after a stressful day at work. Always something to learn as well. Thanks All for making this such a pleasant, easy place. I like it here.

White Mansions is a 1978 album by various artists documenting life in the Confederacy during the Civil War. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22DmyDovq9Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb4dZGuTwiQ -
Thanks Ihooq, that was a great tip, visiting their site right now. Apart from Martu straps the best priced with quality I´ve seen. This will be fun:)

It´s the 7th so it´s superrep day

Amazing collection of Chronos that came together here. Just wonderful, now I have to come back here and study several one by one again:) But it will be fun . Great leatherstraps Ihooq, love them. Stormtrooper: the RO is a slim watch 11,4mm, elegant microstepper quartz with small ticking secs at 6 (non-disturbing) locked main seconds at 12, this sweeps like a 21j if the Chrono is on. It´s very nice and solid, annoying point is the duplication of subdials at 6 for seconds and the same at 9 for minutes. I read Trusty has also one without this duplication but haven´t had a look yet. it´s even lumed but wears off relatively fast (unlike the Explorer or others) the hands remain barely readable in a dark room.

Good to have several to train:). Thinking of filling the lugholes with cool weld once I get it and redo those to see what it looks like.
-
IWC CD 2008 - it´s a beautiful one and the PAM 212 Flyback with domed chrystal and 1950´s casing All others are quartz like this TAG with swiss ronda, so You really can use them or diving watches with the unidirectional bezel, fastest for counting minutes anyway:)
-
It´s got the nice, clean sandwich dial including running seconds at nine, these belong on a dive watch to always check if it´s still running, a hefty cg-lever and the unique and typical PAM - crownguard, a nice engine in the back and lugscrews to comfortably change the strap. So Yes, get it, it´s all what PAM´s are about, when handwound the better, so You have the chance to use the cg-lever more often.

Thanks, this was the first case I started working on with the Dremel and it was real fun. Overdid it a bit with scratching and repolishing and still filing on the lugholes, but this little watch meant something like my exit from overpriced super-reps. It works reliably and flawlessly with a good power-reserve from the little 21j, it sits well on the wrist and I really love to wear it. Difficult to put something else on:) Before/after

Check out Toros site as well, he carries both versions, Supermirrors can get them too (but has no site, just a section on here). The movement in these are decorated A7750´s, not the most reliable of all so just keep in mind it may need a repair once.

Maybe try Jacksonste or TSwatches, look in the TD section if they are there, for unbranded ones watchbandcenter.com is also fine.

Day Phase (Sun-Moon Phase) with a smiling sun
Nightwatch replied to aww's topic in Other Brands Area
Hi and welcome. You could try Vacheron Constantin and look into IWC, Breguet, Patek Philippe, A. Lange and some others. It will take some time to browse the TD sites. Maybe try it on Trusty, they carry many: http://www.trusty-watch.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=moonphase&inc_subcat=0&sort=3a&page=4 Lemania and 23j are both reliable movements to start with. Good luck -
Hi, fantastic project You´re starting there. I was looking at throwing a Yuki gilt dial and hands together with the athaya crown in this 5513 Cartel (unbeatable price from Sead) but in the end it´s working so well and it´s so nice to wear with all flaws included that I just left it beaten up as it is before breaking anything. Meanwhile even on old gens I have also seen mix-ups of all kinds of parts (those available, not exact replacements) so 4me it really doesn´t matter too much. One day still might replace the crown, age the insert and maybe relume the dial but for now it´s like this:
-
Somehow these 3 6 9 dials in an old, beaten up casing are incredibly nice to look at
-
And great pics they are. Thanks for putting them up. Simple, understated and beautiful - I love this watch. On leather strap it´s 10x more comfortable and super-easy to wear in any occasion (95 gram with strap included instead something like 200 or more). Never put the bracelet on again - You should try it without - to wear it more:) It became my go-to watch and always take it along when travelling.

TC V6 delivered in EU: $548 + $22 = $570 Andrew delivered in EU: $508 + $70 = $578, it´s more expensive, optical window dressing. TC not only looks, it IS way, way better and 9 out of 10 are good (estimate) vs. probably 3 or 4 good 3 or 4 medium and 2 or 3 very bad (estimate) from the other maker. Only thing I liked was they tried to put a serviced ETA in it (is it?) without all the colourful decorations - and that´s a good thing. Look at how thin the TC is - height between caseset and bezelring Tc always on the right

interesting "air-fix" on the balance spring. Thanks, might come in handy somewhere in the future and doesn´t cost a thing:) Seems huge but interesting that U-42, the more so with a 6497 in it. Is this superlumed? Wear it well.

Hi, have seen it just once otb on a members pic and it looked good. It´s the only vintage sub Toro carries, so it was probably chosen for a reason.
