  1. B, thanks for that awesome story. Indeed many, many thanks to our Veterans. I can never put into words the gratitude I have for our service men and women and the sacrifices they endure to protect our freedoms.
  2. Love this one. Isn't this the model with the ultra rare 33 date function ?
  3. Not sure on either. I have not seen a maxi dial for sale recently.
  4. Nice. Outside of the gilt 5513's the mark v maxi is my favorite.
  5. Looks good T. For 81 a gen Maxi dial would work great but good luck finding one.
  6. Luke, how the hell are you? Been a long time. Yes I am still searching...been close a couple of times, but the hunt continues.
  7. Similar journey, Small gen collection when I got here. Rolex wearer since the late 80's. Joined here to try some of the new modern Rolexes with the idea I would test them and buy the gen of the one I really liked.....and at one point had about 20 reps with pieces coming and going all the time. Then the franken phase of doing moderate to high end builds. Then lately back to gens. The "taste" that changed the most was the shift to vintage Rolex. As long as I have collected watches, I could have saved myself a lot of money if I would have known I loved the vintage pieces 20 years ago when you could still get them for reasonable prices. As for others noticing my watches, it rarely happens. My friends and co-workers know I am a WIS and frequently ask, but in public it is pretty rare. I do a lot of presentations in front of large groups and every once in awhile someone in the audience will ask about a watch or on the rare occasion when I run into another WIS. Usually that happens when traveling. I do tend to only wear watches that I can afford whether gen or build. Even when I was buying OTB reps, I usually wore models that I could afford to wear the gen of. Not that I really care, or that most people would even know the difference. Even as a WIS, I never really knew how much PP cost until I did some research, I mean I knew they were expensive but in reality many models cost more than I would have guessed.... Wear whatever you like!
  8. Back on the rivet [emoji869]
  9. Awesome find. Case looks to be in great condition. This is going to be a great build with loads of character and a really cool story.
  10. 2893 are actually somewhat hard to find and if I remember takes some work to get them to fit/work correctly depending on the case set and hands.
  11. Changed up after noticing it was a hooked 7 day so GMT.
  12. Premiers tonight in the US. Taking the wife to the "dinner" theater. LOL, going to sport my Tudor Black Bay Black on a RAF nato.
  13. Any more news on this? A friend just asked me to source a Hulk for him. If this is not out yet, I assume the latest Noob is the best one then?
  14. Nice, super domes rule! That is looking really sweet my friend.
  15. Negative, I was not the buyer. While I was highly tempted and this is a very nice piece. When I said I know the answer...the answer is to be wait for the gilt 5513. Appreciate the discussion.
  16. You guys know I love these afternoon shots in my office
  17. @jmb that looks good. You know I am nuts and always end up going overboard with gen parts on the builds to the point it becomes close to the cost of a genuine watch. Kind of defeats the whole purpose and concept of doing a build and my OCD gets in the way of doing budget builds. So of late the logical choice has been to just buy a gen watches...I do miss the process of the builds. I will probably take on a 6542 build here in the near future if I can ever find a decent white dial. @StoneP agreed, I have dealt with him too, he is a great guy and I like to buy from him. It is a little high but it is a very nice example in excellent condition with "original" parts. At least parts that would have come on it originally. The market on these has turned up of late, and even more so after the Black Bay Black release. Tudor is pretty hot right now. I know the answer, but sometimes just need to get it out there and hear what my brothers have to say.
  18. It is a birth year thing...I know it is stupid, but it has to be a 1966. For Rolex 66 is a cool year with the transition from gilt to matte. If you have not figured out yet, I tend to be impulsive...I get sick of patiently waiting for the watch I really want to show up. I just need to be patient. Even though a GMT wears better on me because of the flatter case back, the 66 5513 Bart Simpson is my all time favorite Rolex. I just need to be patient. Actually I think I need therapy for my watch addiction.
